Chapter 635: Chapter 636: Mr. Davies
The moment her body sank into the soft bed, Mira nearly melted from comfort.
Soon afterward, surrounded by warmth, safety, and the lingering feeling of family affection she had experienced for the first time in years, Mira quietly fell asleep.
The next morning, Mira woke up early and quickly prepared herself to leave.
However, the moment she arrived at the breakfast table, Mary suddenly dropped a shocking statement calmly.
"The day after tomorrow, I will personally accompany you back to the orphanage."
Mira instantly froze.
"Why?" she asked in confusion.
Mary calmly took a sip of tea before replying,
"Because you are not going back there to continue living."
Her voice was gentle yet firm.
"You have already found your family now."
Mary looked directly at Mira.
"So how could we possibly allow you to continue living in such a place?"
Hearing those words, Mira instinctively opened her mouth to refuse.
However, Olivia suddenly interrupted calmly.
"As for your studies, do not worry. I can use my connections to get you into a good university again."
Lucas casually nodded afterward.
"I have already transferred your monthly allowance to your account."
Meanwhile, Adam coughed awkwardly before taking out a bank card.
"There is some emergency money inside," he spoke gently while handing it to Mira. "Use it whenever you need help."
Adriana calmly joined in as well.
"I already ordered several batches of proper clothes for you. They should arrive sometime this afternoon."
Then Theodore suddenly coughed dramatically.
"As for me..."
He thought very seriously for a while before proudly declaring,
"I can get you any entertainment tickets you want. Movies, concerts, theaters... even private bookings if necessary."
Then he suddenly paused.
After realizing his gift sounded much weaker than everyone else’s, Theodore immediately became serious again.
"Wait." He narrowed his eyes toward Mira. "Who is your favorite actor?"
The sudden question caught Mira completely off guard.
"I-It is Liam..."
The moment Theodore heard that answer, he instantly looked heartbroken.
"I thought you would say my name."
Everyone immediately burst into laughter.
Theodore then dramatically sighed.
"Fine then. I will arrange for Liam’s signed merchandise for you."
Mira sat there completely stunned.
’Is this... what a real family feels like...?’
How was it possible that within only one night, she had suddenly gained such warmth?
Her eyes gradually moistened again.
Still trying hard to keep her voice steady, Mira softly spoke,
"You all truly do not need to accommodate me this much."
She lowered her gaze slightly.
"Being welcomed warmly like this... and having people care about me already feels more than enough."
Those words genuinely came from the bottom of her heart.
Hearing her soft sincerity, everyone subconsciously smiled.
Meanwhile, Aurora quietly chuckled from the side.
"You are our family member now," Aurora spoke naturally. "So you should stop trying to run away from everyone’s affection."
Then she suddenly turned toward Mary.
"Mother, I will accompany Cousin Mira back to the orphanage."
Hearing those words, Mary thought briefly before nodding in agreement.
After all, she trusted Aurora’s maturity deeply.
Meanwhile, Aurora herself became slightly stunned.
Her mother did not even question her decision.
That only strengthened Aurora’s growing suspicions internally.
Still, she temporarily ignored those thoughts.
Instead, she turned toward Mira before suddenly holding her hand gently.
"Cousin," Aurora spoke sweetly while blinking innocently, "would you bring me to see the place where you grew up?"
Her tone sounded unexpectedly soft and spoiled.
"I truly want to see your childhood home."
Mira instantly became defenseless against such tactics.
Especially because Aurora looked far too cute while acting spoiled like that.
Mira’s mind was filled with only one thought.
’This little cousin of mine really resembles a spoiled red cat.’
Aurora’s beautiful eyes were shining brightly while she held Mira’s hand with an innocent expression.
The way she acted cute so naturally made Mira almost lose control for a second.
She genuinely had the urge to pinch Aurora’s soft cheeks.
However, Mira forcibly maintained her calm facade and merely nodded.
"Sure," she replied softly. "Let us go."
Soon afterward, the two of them arrived at the orphanage.
The moment Aurora stepped out of the car and looked at the building before her, she fell silent.
The orphanage looked old and worn down. The walls were cracked in several places.
Rust-covered parts of the gate, while weeds had begun growing around the corners of the courtyard.
Several children were quietly playing nearby, yet their clothes were old and patched repeatedly.
Aurora’s eyes slowly swept across the surroundings.
Then... she remained silent for a very long time.
Seeing this, Mira immediately became nervous.
Her fingers unconsciously tightened slightly.
A trace of fear even appeared inside her heart.
In a slightly trembling voice, she carefully asked,
"What happened?"
Then, after hesitating briefly, Mira nervously added,
"Do... do you dislike this place?"
Her gaze lowered instinctively.
"If you want, I can pack everything quickly so we can leave immediately."
Aurora finally snapped out of her thoughts.
She slowly shook her head before revealing a faint smile. "No."
Her voice sounded unusually gentle.
"I just admire you a lot."
Those words instantly stunned Mira.
Before she could even react, Aurora had already stepped inside alongside her.
The orphanage itself was incredibly small.
As for Mira’s belongings... There was not much at all.
Some old sketches are carefully preserved inside folders.
And a tiny box filled with personal memories.
With Aurora’s help, everything was packed rather quickly.
Once they finished, Aurora suddenly looked toward Mira seriously.
"Cousin," she spoke softly, "from now onward... let us live a good life."
The moment those words entered Mira’s ears, her eyes immediately became moist.
She quickly lowered her head slightly before softly nodding.
"Mm."
A warm feeling spread throughout her chest.
For the first time in many years...
She genuinely felt as though her future no longer looked dark.
With that, Mira immediately prepared to leave together with Aurora.
However, just as they reached the entrance, someone suddenly stopped them.
"Mira."
The moment that voice sounded, Mira’s body visibly trembled slightly.
Standing before them was the orphanage director.
Mr. Davis was a tall man with a pot belly and gold-rimmed spectacles resting on his face.
His neatly combed hair and scholarly appearance easily gave others the impression that he was a kind and educated gentleman.
However, Mira knew very well how disgusting this man truly was beneath that fake exterior.
Her expression instantly stiffened.
"H-Hello, Mr. Davis."
Mr. Davis immediately chuckled warmly.
"Mira," he spoke kindly on the surface, "where are you heading with all your luggage?"
Mira hesitated briefly before answering honestly.
"I found my family members," she replied softly. "I am returning with them."
Hearing those words, Mr. Davis narrowed his eyes slightly.
Then he chuckled again.
"But you have not yet repaid the debt you owe me."
The moment those words were spoken, Mira froze.
Her thoughts immediately drifted toward the emergency card Adam had handed her earlier.
However, she did not even know how much money existed inside the card.
Moreover, she did not dare expose it carelessly.
Thus, she softly replied,
"I... I will repay it soon."
Unfortunately, Mr. Davis merely laughed mockingly.
"Soon?" His tone became colder. "How long exactly do I need to wait?"
Then he slowly stepped closer toward Mira.
"You know very well that I am not a patient person."
As he spoke, he extended his hand toward Mira’s shoulder.
However... before he could even touch her... a slender hand suddenly shot out and grabbed his wrist tightly.
The next second... Crack!
A horrifying cracking sound echoed loudly. "AAAAAH!"
Mr. Davis immediately let out a miserable scream.
His face turned deathly pale from pain.
Meanwhile, Mira stood there completely stunned.
Her eyes widened in disbelief as she stared at Aurora.
Aurora had actually twisted Mr. Davis’s wrist so forcefully that his entire arm bent unnaturally.
Yet Aurora herself merely chuckled lightly.
"It is nothing serious," she spoke casually. "I am simply dealing with a pest."
Then she slowly lifted her cold gaze toward Mr. Davis.
"Keep your filthy hands to yourself."
Mr. Davis immediately nodded frantically from pain.
The moment Aurora finally released him, he hurriedly stumbled backward while clutching his injured wrist.
His entire face twisted from agony and humiliation.
Still gritting his teeth, he glared toward Aurora angrily.
"Who are you?" he shouted furiously. "I can sue you for assault!"
Aurora merely chuckled.
"And I can sue you for harassment."
Her smile gradually turned colder.
"Would you like me to publicly release all evidence and formally file a case against you?"
The confidence within Aurora’s demeanor instantly caused Mr. Davis to reevaluate the situation.
He hurriedly examined Aurora’s outfit carefully.
The moment he recognized the luxurious designer brand she was wearing, his expression immediately changed.
Cold sweat even formed faintly on his forehead.
He instantly realized something.
This was definitely not someone he could afford to offend.
At the same time, however, he inwardly cursed Mira repeatedly.
’How the hell did this orphan suddenly become acquainted with such a powerful young lady?!’
