Chapter 316: Azarex Evolution
"A-Another core... sorry to say this, Aurora, but I don’t think I can absorb any more cores..." Azarex coughed while saying these words.
When he found that his words weren’t having any effect on her he even tried to show her his core but again failed.
Even Dhruv ignored him as he looked at Aurora and asked, "Do you have a Tier IV epic core? And even if you have one, why do you want Azarex to absorb it? Is there any particular reason?"
He asked, knowing that nothing she did was without reason.
"Yes, Master, I have a few Tier IV epic cores, and the reason I want Azarex to absorb one is because it will increase the chances of him getting an epic evolution option tremendously."
Aurora explained why absorbing higher and better-tier cores is important and how it affects one’s evolution.
"Ohhh! Is that so..." Muttering these words, Dhruv looked at Azarex with a devious smile.
"I think you should absorb the core as well..." he muttered shaking his head.
"B-But the p-pain, Master..." Azarex shivered.
No matter how much he wanted to get away from the situation, there seemed to be no way of escaping this. In the end, Azarex couldn’t help but agree to absorb the core.
Nodding her head, Aurora moved toward one of the chests placed in the room. Opening it, she pulled out a core shimmering with golden light.
Azarex couldn’t help but gulp a mouthful of imaginary saliva while looking at the core. The size of the core was that of a football, at least. For some reason, he began regretting accepting the deal.
"A-Are you sure that thing will fit inside of me? I mean I can absorb it." With a hint of fear, Azarex asked, looking at Aurora. No matter how much he hides his eyes were pleading for mercy.
"You don’t have anything to fear, Azarex. The core comes from a monster that was extremely big thus the size. After you absorb it, it will automatically fit your size..." Pausing for a bit, she added, "...probably."
"W-What do you mean by probably..." He was about to question it when his master meddled in between cutting his words.
"Now... now, this is enough chit-chat. Let’s go to the room and start the process as soon as possible." Drhuv sighed while taking a peek inside the chest.
’Woah! There are another four cores inside and this one is the smallest. Hehe! Vexar and Alaric can have one as well,’ Dhruv thought as the smile on his face broadened.
After inspecting the room a little Dhruv and his guardian moved toward their next destination.
"So, Aurora, what is the use of the object placed in the evolution chamber?" Dhruv asked, remembering the weird-shaped object in the room.
At first, he had thought it was just another item for decoration but he was proven wrong when after the the evolution, he felt something inside the item. There was some sort of letter written inside of it.
"Ohhh! That. It’s an aura suppression item," she casually said another thing that Dhruv had no idea about.
"Aura suppression!?... what’s that?" Dhruv asked not understanding even a bit about what she was talking about.
"I suppose you haven’t seen one yet.."
"What i’ve not seen?"
"Tier 4 evolution. Have you seen any tier 4 evolution."
"No... i’m the first one to evolve to tier 4."
"Worry not. So, after tier 3 evolution, the egg begins to affect not only itself but also the surroundings as well. During Tier IV evolution, the egg begins to leak a high concentration of the owner affinity mana, which is usually called an aura."
"...If it is not properly suppressed, the aura could have a bad effect on the environment around you. Well not only bad it could also have good effects. Many shops in the cosmos will pay you to evolve in their designated location,"
Aurora muttered, giving some more hints about how the cosmos works.
"Well, isn’t that fascinating..." Looking at Azarex, Dhruv asked, "So Azarex, how did my egg affect the room?"
"Your egg master. Huh! After you become the egg small minerals had begun to grow, small fires were dancing around as well, and yes the whole thing was glitching..."
Azarex explained the mystical things he had seen during Dhruv’s evolution.
’Ohhh! So Master possesses three affinities... Fire, Metal, and Glitching Yes Illusion. Well, that’s quite good,’ she thought, confirming the exact affinities Dhruv possessed.
Some more talk happened during their journey as they eventually reached the room. Reaching its door, Aurora handed over the core to Azarex and signaled him to proceed forward.
With a bit of hesitation, the undead lord moved forward. Reaching the plate, he sat on it after removing every piece of clothing.
’Man, he is beaten to the core...’ Dhruv couldn’t help but think as he looked at Azarex’s broken condition. For some reason, even Aurora felt bad looking at him.
’I guess there is no other option then...’ Azarex thought as he looked at the core in his hand. It was so big that he was struggling too grab it with his one hand.
After staring at it for a second, he opened his status and clicked on the evolution menu.
[You have reached the maximum level for your species. Do you want to evolve?]
[Yes/No]
Keeping it open, he looked at the core and thought of absorbing it. A whirlwind of energy appeared as the core disintegrated. Without any command, the energy began moving toward his core, filling it further and further.
Argh!!
Crack!
Azarex gritted his teeth as he felt the ribs around his core cracking. As more energy filled his core, its size began to increase as well. The ribs were on the verge of separating from him when Azarex felt something.
The absorption was completed. Without any hesitation, he clicked on the yes button as the pain began to ease. The vision around him blurred as his body began to melt.
Within seconds, he turned into a dark goo as it collected itself. A pitch-black egg appeared inside the plate.
