Chapter 314: Core Saturation

’Trial, dungeon boss, mutant, True Rank skills... so much information, but none of it is of any use to me.’ Even though Azarex was listening to their conversation, the more he listened, the more he felt that all this information was useless to him.

None of it was of any use to him. Azarex felt he could use his time better elsewhere. He could practice his undead magic or, even better, he should evolve.

’Yes, I should evolve as soon as possible,’ Azarex thought, knowing that they were going to fight a Tier V monster pretty soon, and he had to step up his game to help them in battle.

’Well, looking at my situation... I don’t think I will be of any use...’ Azarex sighed as he looked at his condition. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦

One of his arms was broken, cracks were spreading in his skull, and his ribs had suffered some heavy fractures. All in all, he was just barely surviving.

Even though he wanted to get out of there, he couldn’t just meddle in the middle of their conversation. With some hope, he began waiting in silence for a perfect opportunity.

Eventually, it came. Without any hesitation, Azarex opened his jaw and asked, "Master, if it’s not disturbing, I want to evolve so I can be of use in the battle as well."

Hearing his words, both Dhruv and Aurora turned to look at him. As the weight of their gazes pressed on him, Azarex felt uncomfortable for some reason.

He could understand why he felt like this toward Dhruv, but Aurora... he couldn’t understand why he wasn’t able to face even her.

"You want to evolve... well, perfect. I have to wait sometime to get familiar with my abilities as well, and it would be the perfect time for you to evolve too," Dhruv nodded, approving his request.

Saying these words, Dhruv got up from the throne and began moving toward Azarex. He was going to accompany him to the evolution chamber.

When Dhruv reached him, Azarex turned around and began moving toward the evolution chamber. When they were in the middle of their walk, suddenly Aurora spoke, breaking the silence.

"How much have you saturated your core, Azarex?" she asked, a smile appearing on her face.

"One hundred percent," Azarex answered without any hesitation.

Even before coming to this dungeon, his core was already filled to eighty percent, and with all the cores he got during their journey and in the town, it was enough to fill him up completely.

"Only one hundred percent... why not two hundred?" Aurora asked. Moments after asking the question, she understood the reason on her own.

’They did not know about it...’ She sighed, expecting a follow-up question.

"Two hundred percent. Can we do that!?..."

Aurora was right; Azarex asked the exact question she was hoping for.

"Yes, we can do that... not only two hundred percent, we can do even more. To tell the truth, there is no physical limit to how far you can saturate your core. You just have to know when to stop,"

Aurora answered, giving yet another groundbreaking piece of information.

"Does that extra saturation provide extra evolutionary energy during the evolution or not?"

Dhruv was the one to ask this question. For obvious reasons, he was feeling pain after hearing the words ’evolutionary energy’.

"Yes! The more you saturate the core, the greater the amount of evolutionary energy you will get. Well, in honesty, most of the monsters only saturate their core because of the extra energy..." Aurora explained.

"Most of the monsters use it to increase the energy, then what other uses does it have?" Azarex asked.

Hearing the question, Aurora went on to further explain how core absorption works. She explained that the more one absorbs cores, the further the size of their own core increases.

This means two things: first, the larger the size of your core, the larger your mana pool; and second, as she just mentioned, it helps increase the evolutionary energy.

"It’s nice and all, but we don’t have more than twenty of some Tier II cores."

Dhruv admitted, remembering how most of his core supply went to increase his own saturation. Some were even used during the fight.

Hearing the words, a smile appeared on Aurora’s face. Looking toward her master, she expressed, "Well, you don’t have to worry about that, Master. I have plenty of those."

Saying these words, she began to lead the group. The duo followed her as she eventually led them to her bedroom. With a smile, she went toward the left wall and began murmuring something.

’She’s casting some spell,’ Dhruv thought, familiar with her murmuring.

His thought turned out to be true, as the moment she stopped murmuring, the wall in front of her moved.

Crackkk! Crackkk!

Cracking from the middle, it began to move toward both sides. It stopped when the gap between the walls was wide enough for a person to enter.

"Come, Master. This is my treasury..." With a smile, she signaled them to enter the area.

With a bit of hesitation and full of curiosity, Azarex and Dhruv entered the room. The moment they entered, they were forced to cover their eyes as a blinding, shining light hit them.

"A-Are- are those cores!?" Dhruv asked, looking at a literal mound of cores. Hundreds upon hundreds of cores were just piled in the corner like worthless pieces of crap.

"Yes, Master, they are indeed cores... just that they are Tier I and Tier II; very few of them should be Tier III," she mentioned, gesturing for Azarex to move forward and start absorbing the cores.

"A-Are you sure I can absorb them... I mean, this is your treasury, right?" Azarex asked, still hesitant about absorbing the cores.

"Yes, you can absorb as many as you like... we are family after all," she said, a smile appearing on her face.

Listening to these words, Azarex looked toward Dhruv. Only after seeing him nod his head did he begin moving forward.

While Azarex was absorbing the cores, Dhruv turned to look toward Aurora and asked, "Talking about core saturation, I’ve noticed that you have reached full saturation yet you haven’t evolved. Was there any reason for that?"
