Chapter 301: Evoltion’s Ends
’What happened... why is my evolutionary energy so low?’ Dhruv frowned looking at the evolutionary energy bar.
He can see that he had even less evolutionary energy compared to his 3rd tier evolution. It wasn’t just less... he has only about 30 percent of what he had gotten during the last evolution.
’Cosmos, why did you have to do me like that... all my plans just went down the drain...’ Dhruv sighed while trying to think of the cause.
Ouchhh!... Midway through his thinking a stinging pain appeared in his chest.
Not having much time, Dhruv began multitasking. While going to the page where he could change his available organs to be mutable ones, he thought of two possible reasons that could have contributed to this.
First and most likely absurd was that the cosmos didn’t like what he was doing and punished him by removing most of his evolutionary energy. Even though he ’himself’ had come up with this, he didn’t buy this explanation.
’I mean, Cosmos didn’t be this petty, right?’ Sliding his finger across the screen, he thought.
The second reason he had thought energy was directly proportional to the size or purity of his core. Because his core was destroyed all the energy must have been lost in the process.
And the only energy he was getting was from the fragments of core he was able to fuse. This explanation wasn’t perfect either but Dhruv was leaning toward this as it seemed logical.
’Well, this makes even more sense when considering that the evolutionary energy depends on how much the core of the monster is filled and so on...’ he thought, nodding his head.
Knowing if he thought any further he would be stuck in this loop forever, Dhruv turned his head around to focus on something interesting appearing on the panel.
[Mutatable organs:
- Hair
- Stomach
- Liver
- Blood
- Skin
...
...
...
...
...
...
- Phoenix wings
- Spider’s eyes
- Goblin’s Hide
- Crystalline’s Horn]
’Ohhhuh! I can even make the organ of my other form mutable.’ Dhruv thought as looking at the bottom of the list. There were some really nasty stuff that he could mutate as well but he didn’t focus on them for the moment.
Looking at the names for a few seconds, he thought about whether to choose these organs or go with the plan he had made.
While he was trying to come up with a decision something appeared in his head.
Dhruv remembered his fight with the queen... especially the last part remembering his fight with the queen. From the fight, he realized he was an utter failure in using his monster form.
The form which was much stronger than his human self. The form which was made to kill.
’I have to perfectly master that form of mine... and to do that, I’ve to constantly fight in it. And if I were to do that, why not improve the skin I was going to fight in first...’ Dhruv concludes.
Feeling the pain increasing, he clicked to check how much energy it would take him to increase one of the organs.
’Whaaaatttt! This is daylight robbery, cosmos.’ He almost spat out blood looking at the price for just making the organ mutable.
Almost 65% of his energy will be needed to make his phoenix mutable. 50% for Crystallce’s horn and 16% for each spider’s eyes and goblin’s hide. And this was after applying his 25% discount privilege.
"I can’t even make all four of them mutable at the same time... Why this injustice toward me, cosmos? What I’ve done wrong. I only cheated a bit but that’s all there is no reason to punish me this much.." Dhruv whispers looking at the sky.
Knowing he wasn’t going to get an answer anytime soon, he began deciding which three of them would become mutable.
’Huh! So, wings will give me mobility... eyes will increase my visibility, and skin will increase my durability. And what will the horn do? It will increase my coolibility,’ Dhruv thought, making fun of the horn which was only for show.
’On a serious note, I’m sure there will be some usefulness of the horn. But for this evolution, it had to be left alone.’ Shaking his head he clicked on the other three organs.
[Do you want to make your Phoenix wings, Spider’s eyes, and Goblin’s Hide mutable?]
[Yes/No]
Nodding his head, Dhruv moved to the next panel where a list of organs was displayed. Looking at all the shiny and powerful organs he could have had but wouldn’t be able to now... he was on the verge of tears.
The only saving grace for him was that he could at least have a free organ.
There were hundreds of options to select from, but because he didn’t have enough time, Dhruv decided to choose the best organ he could think of:
[Perfect Stomach: A stomach perfect to hold an increased amount of food. The efficiency of essence extraction from the monster meat is increased. The size and efficiency will increase with each mutation.]
The description was simple and exactly what he wanted.
’Huh! With this, I can eat as much as I want and can get enough essence to increase the tier of my organs. And with so many new organs in the mix, this is the perfect time to buy the organ.’ Without any hesitation, he bought the organ.
With this, the organ-buying part of the evolution comes to an end. Now, Dhruv will have to decide how to invest his stats in proportion to his body.
Like in the last evolution, Dhruv invested a very small amount of strength to increase his height, while the remaining was used to increase the muscle density.
He divided agility into 50% for speed, 25% for accuracy, and 25% for perception because of the spider eyes.
For stamina, he chose the ratio of 40-60: 40 for toughness and 60 for stamina.
Lastly, all his magic power was used to increase the speed of his brain.
With that, Dhruv was finished with his manual work. Looking at all the decisions he had made, he clicked on the ’Yes’ button.
The realm began to move as the light in front of his eyes faded into darkness.
