Chapter 264: The Power Of A Tier I Core
Hearing the satisfaction in their voices, a smile appeared on Devid’s face.
In hope of addressing them, Devid turned his head to see their reaction. The moment he looked at their faces, Devid could only find one emotion, and that was greed.
The only difference he found was that the truly veteran ones were able to hide their emotions pretty effectively, while some were somewhat good. On the other hand, the third party wasn’t even trying to hide them.
No matter what they used, Devid was able to see them very clearly. After all, he was someone who had attended these things from the moment he was born.
Looking at the greed in their smiles, Devid’s face only increased as well. Glancing towards them, he muttered, "Calm down, guys... You will get the chance to do business... but at least let me finish demonstrating it to you."
Saying these words, he turned his face and looked at the gun with a serious expression. Looking at his creation with proudness Devid opened his mouth,
"...After each fire, it is recommended to let the Mega Destroyer cool down for a minute before firing another round. If you don’t have that time, you can still continuously fire four rounds without worrying that the gun will be damaged... but after that and the destroyer will begin to get destroyed as well.."
Looking at their expression, he added, "If you have someone with ice or some type of cold-related affinity, then it will be better to keep them along with you. Ice or water don’t have any negative effect on the machine so you can use it as much as you like."
After explaining the limitation of the gun, Devid quietly looked toward his butler and signaled him to do something. Nodding his head, the butler moved from his location a bit and called someone who was already waiting for the signal.
"While he is preparing for something special... let us begin the process of readying the Mega Destroyer for another round." Saying these words, Devid opened the lid of the loader and placed the second core in it.
Closing the lid, instead of pressing the button, Devid began to wait for something. He didn’t have to wait for long as two people entered the room while dragging a cage.
The cage was well-covered with a sheet of clothes to protect the content inside from other views, but in the era of mana, it is almost impossible to hide anything with just this measly protection.
Knowing that those with mana sense would have already made their guesses, Devid quickly moved toward the cage and removed the cover from it. The moment the cover was removed, everyone else was able to see the contents as well.
In the cage lay something that everyone present here knew too well about.
"A monster..." Someone from the group gasped as they saw the monster.
"It’s safe, right.." Max muttered as he looked at the monster with fearful eyes.
"Yeah! I think this place is the safest place on the entire earth after all the strongest members of humanity are here.." Devid muttered, looking in a particular direction.
"Well, they are in the cage so we should be good.." Noticing the gaze, Magnus chuckled while replying.
"Huh! Isn’t that the famous species of [Rino-raptor] known for its defense..." An individual muttered as he recognized the monster in the cage.
"Huh, it is indeed that..." Others quickly agreed with the man.
Noticing the murmur of the crowd, Devid turned around and muttered, "The famous hunter, Aidan, is correct. It is indeed the Rino-raptor, which is famous for its defensive mutation. The one in front of us is a tier 2 monster..."
Addressing the man with his title, he quickly explained to everyone about the monster briefly.
"So, what do you think will happen if I fire the concentrated mana at this tier 2 monster who is heavily mutated in defense.." While pressing the button of the weapon, Devid asked this question while looking at all of them.
"Probably be half dead... after all, we are only using a tier 1 core," Magnus spoke after thinking for a while.
"No, I think it will be dead... as a mage, I know how much power those concentrated spells hold... so I think it will be game over for the monster," the famous hunter replied with a smile on his face.
"I reckon that.." Max agreed with the man.
"I guess I don’t clearly know enough about these things.." A woman muttered as she looked at the monster with a questionable look.
Everyone else had different opinions on what the effect of the weapon would be on the monster, but nobody was a hundred percent sure. Looking at the uncertainty on their faces, Devid replied with a smile, "Why not see it for ourselves.."
Saying these words, he quickly released the button of the Mega Destroyer... letting all that concentrated mana land directly on the monster’s stomach area.
Woooshhh!
Nobody was immediately able to see the result as smoke was covering that part of the room. But when the smoke dissipated, all of them released a collective gasp!
"Fuck! Is this for real?..." The hunter said as he looked at the destruction. Even though he had said that the beam would be able to kill the monster, he wasn’t sure that the destruction would be this bad.
Everyone had the same reaction as they saw that where the beam had been fired, now there was nothing but a gaping hole. An entire portion of the monster’s body was gone for good.
"Well, ladies and gentlemen, what you are seeing is not an illusion but a reality... a reality we can achieve from the new synergy that is called mana." Devid muttered as he quietly placed the gun back on the table.
"We can use a tier 3 monster as a test subject because all of you already know how powerful they are... but I assure you that the full power of the blow can kill even a tier 3 monster if used correctly," Devid added with a proud expression.
He wasn’t just pulling facts out of thin air either... no, this is something he had tried and has been successful in. The Mega Destroyer can really kill a tier 3 monster in one hit and seriously injure defense-related tier 3 monsters.
"Hmm! I don’t understand how a tier 1 core can kill a tier 3 monster... I can understand a tier 2, but tier 3 isn’t that something fantastical..." Someone from the observer area opened his mouth.
With a warm, polite smile on his face, Devid replied, "I see how you can think this... but the thing is, you guys are forgetting how powerful cores are. See, a single tier 1 core is something that holds an entire monster together for the rest of its life without a problem if they don’t use their mana for any other source... I don’t want to go into the really scientific area, but just imagine how much power that core has to have to hold that being together..."
Pausing to take a break, he muttered, "It isn’t just holding either... It is storing all its information as well... its memory, its past evolution... its possible future evolution... all the skills and whatnot."
"Sigh! If only we humans had a core for ourselves..." Devid sighed as he found himself very unfortunate.
Realizing that he is going into a different route altogether, Devid quickly calmed himself and muttered, "The only thing you have to know is these cores are very powerful and are capable of doing things far beyond our imagination. Even at this moment, I don’t think I’m using even 20% of their energy efficiently."
Devid finished his words with somewhat of a sad expression. As a craftsman, he wants nothing more than to create something that is 100% efficient... but alas, even he knows that it is something that is impossible.
"I think we have had enough of our shows... let’s get down to some business talk." Saying these words, Devid signaled toward his butler to handle everything business-related.
Even though he is someone who has mastery over the business, he didn’t want to involve himself in that... this is more true after the evolution when he had his hand in so much to play with.
Reaching the room, the butler stands beside the chair on which Devid would have seated and muttered, "Sir and madam... I would first like to express my gratitude for you having taken some time to attend this meeting."
Everyone nodded, not buying any of that bullshit.
Seeing their reaction, the butler opened his mouth, "As you have already seen the potential of the weapon... so, I think the price would be something that you find worth it."
Pausing for a bit, he added, "To buy the weapon, you have to pay a total of 500 tier 1 core, 90 tier 2 core, or 10 tier 3 core." Saying these words, the butler kept his mouth shut.
A shocked expression appeared all over their faces as almost all of them thought simultaneously, ’Why is it so cheap...’
