Chapter 213: How Dungeon Keeper Works
Seeing the notification in front of him, a smile appeared on Dhruv’s face. After getting the ability, he began to understand more about the ability than what was shown in its description.
The very first thing he found was that his inventory was way smaller than that of Grek’s. Where Grec’s inventory has a size of 1M cubic meters, his only possesses a volume of 1K cubic meters... which is a very disappointing thing.
’This is bad but the good thing is that it won’t be like this forever... Ugh! there is nothing to worry about; it will increase after I evolve to tier 4...’ Dhruv convinced himself that it isn’t a bad thing.
After getting over this, he began to understand the second main feature of this exclusive ability. Its ability to store anything... well, almost anything.
’Hmmm! The time and space inside of the inventory is frozen... and all the items sent inside the inventory will remain in the same condition no matter how much time has passed in real life.’
’..There isn’t any limitation on living beings as well. Huhhh! This place could serve as an interesting prison as well...’ Dhruv giggled as he imagined situations where he would capture people and put them inside of this ability.
After a minute of absorbing information, he was able to figure out another thing. Because there wasn’t any concept of time and space inside... he won’t be able to store energy in its raw forms.
This means he wouldn’t be able to store his or even his opponent’s spell inside the inventory and throw it whenever he wanted.
Taking another few more minutes to understand every other minor detail, he turned to face Grec. Following his promise, he quickly removed his ring from the finger and began to extract all of his items from it.
His spear, the normal stuff he had bought, numerous health and mana potions, dungeon core, monster cores, notebooks, pens, glasses, rope, a dice, a bottle filled with crimson liquid, and many more items began to pile on the ground.
Looking at the items in front of him, Grec couldn’t control himself and opened his mouth,
"Master, can I have them...?" he asked with a smile on his face.
Listening to the demand of his fourth guardian, Dhruv wasn’t surprised one bit. Turning his head around, he answered, "So, you don’t want the ring and now want any one of the items here..."
"No, that’s not what I mean, Master... I was wondering if I can get anything for free..." Grec’s voice becomes quieter at the end as if he has some kind of difficulty in talking.
"I mean, you can get the rope and dice..." Dhruv said as he gave three items in exchange for the exclusive ability.
To tell the truth, he didn’t need to give anything in return... the reason he had initiated this trade was so he could teach the monster a thing or two about fair trade.
While Grec was placing the items inside his inventory, Dhruv asked him a question, "So, Grec, can you explain to me how the third exclusive ability of yours works?"
Even though he had figured out how this ability might work, he was still not satisfied with it. In the end, he couldn’t stop himself and asked Grec directly.
"Dungeon keeper?" Grec asked back.
"Yes.."
After confirming, instead of immediately replying Grec began to focus on something. After a minute of silence, he opened his mouth.
"Master, can you see the screen in front of me..." the green monster muttered as he pointed toward the area in front of him with his finger.
"Huh!!" Dhruv blurted out as he wasn’t expecting this kind of answer.
Hearing that his master might be confused, Grec was about to repeat the same thing... but Dhruv was one step ahead.
"Yes, I can see them. What is this exactly?" Dhruv asked as he was confused about the origin of the screen in front of him.
"So, this is the screen that lets me control the dungeon..." Grec explained.
...
Dungeon Keeper: Grec
Dungeon Tier: 3 currently (Will Be Reset)
Dungeon Type: Jungle
Dungeon Main Monster: Goblins
...
"So these four sections are something that I can’t control... it also shows the overview of the dungeon.." Grec explained.
’Interesting...’ Dhruv thought as he read the information about the dungeon. Looking at the second section, a question pops up inside of him.
"Grec, what does it mean by it will be reset.." Dhruv asked.
"Ohh! Because you have extracted the core one time, this dungeon has been registered as almost completed. After fusing with the core, I got the ability and became the boss of the dungeon..." Grec paused as he thought for a second.
"...When I leave this place, the dungeon will be reset... only then will I become its real owner." Grec tried to explain as clearly as possible.
"Hmm! So does that mean the main boss also has something like this? Interestingly, these things are far more complex yet simple at the same time," Dhruv thought of a few questions but kept them to himself... for now.
"Okay, I understand... what are these sections..." Dhruv asked as he showed the section below these four.
...
<Monsters Store>
<Building Store>
<Location Store>
<Item Store>
<Ore Store>
Dungeon Essence: 1000
...
"These are self-explanatory... as you can see, these are the sections where I can use my DE or dungeon essence to buy anything that is available from the store... Do you want to see what is inside of them..." Grec asked.
"I sure want to take a peek at what is inside of them.." Dhruv answered with a smile on his face.
Hearing the affirmation, Grec clicked on the <Monster Store> Button. In just a single second, a list of numerous monsters began to pop up in front of them.
...
[Goblins]
[Wolves]
[Monkeys]
[Ants]
[Normal Trees]
[Magic Trees]
[Monstrous Tree]
[...]
...
’So there is another section inside of the store; here I can choose which type of monster I want to spawn...’ Dhruv thought as he clicked on the goblin section.
...
[Lesser Goblin: 1 DE]
[Adult Goblin: 5 DE]
[...]
[Goblin Mage: 25 DE]
[Goblin Shaman: 125 DE]
[Goblin Witch Doctor: 625 DE]
...
All types of monster forms began to show in front of Dhruv. This time, besides the name of the monster, the DE required to buy them was also mentioned.
Looking at the boxes in front of him a thought began to appear inside of Dhruv’s head...
’What is this... I thought it was real, but now... now it seems nothing but a game... are we even real... is there any meaning in doing all of this.’ All sort of thought began to fill his brain.
