Chapter 202: Lesser Venomweave Arachnox Boss
’What...’ Thala exclaimed as he saw the name of the monster. Rubbing his eyes, he looked at the notification once again. As always, there was no change in the notification.
[You have killed a unique monster, Lesser Venomweave Arachnox Boss.]
[You have earned Experience.]
[You have earned 50,000 CC.]
[You have leveled...]
[....]
[.....]
[You have leveled up.]
Neglecting the rest of the notification, Thala focused all his attention on the name of the monster. In just a moment he realized that all of their hypothesis about this floor was wrong.
’This is the boss of the monster but there is no concept of a floor in this dungeon. Does that mean we have cleared out this dungeon?’ Thala thought as he pondered over this.
Thinking this, he quickly realizes that this is too good to be true. The cosmos he knows wouldn’t just give them this easy victory.
’There ought to be some catch here...’ Thala thought as he continued to stare at the corpse of the monster.
During the hunting in the goblin dungeon, Dhruv had already shared that the dungeon monsters with "Boss" in their name would drop a core after getting killed. He also mentioned that it is a very important item that should be retrieved no matter what.
"Why are you staring at that monster, Thala?" A voice broke his concentration. Turning around, he found that the old man was beside him.
Without beating around the bush, he simply replies, "This one is a boss."
"..."
Realizing the weight of these five words, he also stared at the monster, " Shit, no wonder this one felt different from other monsters. Uhhhh! What are you planning to do now?" The old man replied, now looking at the monster in a totally different view.
"You guys will go with Olivia to the island and call the lord; I will go and pack everyone else and come back as quickly as possible," Thala replied.
"Right decision, who knows how many of these ones are wandering around this wide cave? On top of being a boss, they are at tier 3. Besides you and me, I don’t think there is anyone here who could take them on... not alone at least." The old man muttered.
He wasn’t praising himself, nor was he downgrading others. This was just a simple thing he knew and thus said because of being in the possession of rational thinking.
Even Thala knew that this statement was nothing but true...
"You are right..." Thala nodded.
Removing his attention from the spider, the old man looked at Olivia and her team members. Grace had placed Olivia on his back, and now they were planning to leave this place.
Looking at the group which was about to leave old man turned toward Thala once again and asked, "Do you have mana potions..."
Knowing that there might be some danger on the way back, the old man tried to get as prepared as possible.
Instead of replying Thala quickly removed a bottle filled with blue liquid from his sack, giving it to the old man he said, "Last one..."
While running here, Thala had already drunk all the other mana potions to be ready to fight anything at full strength. Because he didn’t fight, he was still 100% full mana-wise, thus he had no problem lending his mana potion.
While the others were moving toward the portal, Thala was patiently waiting for the core of the monster to pop up. He didn’t have to wait long, as just a few seconds later, the core popped up.
’It looks different than the core of the goblin ones.’ Thala thought as he picked up the core.
The shape of this core was quite different from the other ones he had seen. Instead of looking like a complete one, this one looked as if a petal of a flower had been broken away from its core.
Instead of pondering over it without any clue, he thought that he wanted to know the description of the core. Cosmos didn’t take long to process this request of his.
...
[Name: Shard Of Dungeon Core (Top right)]
[Rank: Unknown]
[Tier: Unknown]
[Type: Artifact]
[Description: The Shard Of Dungeon Core is a fragment from the original core of the Spider Dungeon. A mysterious and dark crystal, it carries the essence of the cave dungeon and holds untold potential for those daring enough to wield its power.]
[Enchantments: Mindweb Infusion, Dungeon Resurgence]
[Mindweb Infusion: By consuming this fragment, the bearer gains the skill of [Minor Monster Mind Control]. This ability allows them to influence the thoughts and actions of small monsters within their vicinity. However, the survival rate of those attempting this ability is notably low, as tapping into the dungeon essence comes with risks and unpredictable consequences.]
[Dungeon Resurgence: When attached to the main dungeon core, the Shard Of Dungeon Core has the power to recreate the original Spider Dungeon core.]
’Wait, this core could provide me with an ability... a mind control ability nonetheless.’ Thala thought as he read the description of the core.
If Olivia were here to see this she could have one of her questions answered, but unfortunately, she was unconscious.
’Well, it isn’t without risk either. One could die just after trying to cast the ability...’ Thala sighed as he read the last part of the enchantment. He didn’t know how that worked but he didn’t have any plan to become the gunnie pig either.
Even before knowing the risk, Thala didn’t have any greed to consume the core in front of him. He knew that this core was going to be a great asset in closing the dungeon, and he didn’t want to be the guy who would destroy that.
Before he could even retrieve the monster core of the monster, he heard the sound of multiple footsteps approaching him.
’They are here...’ he thought while looking in the direction where the sound was coming. In a minute, All the others who had come into the spider dungeon were in front of him.
Addressing all of them, he began explaining what had happened and what their plan was moving forward.
"Yay! We should take any risk and get out of here as soon as possible," a member of his own team said.
Everyone nodded, agreeing to his proposal.
"You guys go; I will come after retrieving a core from the monster," Thala addressed. Knowing the value of a tier 3 core, he wasn’t going to leave it there, where any monster could come and absorb it.
Thinking about this, he began to move toward the spider. Activating his mana sense, he retrieved the core. Placing the core in his pouch he began to move toward the place where he had killed that bat.
The chances of core being there are very low, but Thala didn’t want to give up without trying.
’She should be alright, right... Lord and priestess is here there is nothing to worry about.’ With a bittersweet smile, he continues his walk.
