Chapter 107: Acid Slime
After pushing Dhruv into the line of people, the gang member quickly explained that he had to kill the monster that would approach the tracks.
Once he had explained this, the gang member simply departed from the area and started guarding the stairs they had used to reach this location. Although he had left, there were still some guards remaining at the hunting ground, keeping a watchful eye on the people.
One of the guards signaled to Dhruv, urging him to get into action and start hunting. Dhruv understood the guard’s intention and began to move toward the edge of the area, where the others were already engaged in hunting the monsters.
Upon reaching the edge, Dhruv noticed that the group had organized themselves based on their class. The magicians were positioned at the very front, with those skilled in ranged attacks just to their left. On the far left were the individuals skilled in melee combat.
The line was strategically designed so that any monsters approaching from the tracks would first face the mages, then the rangers, and finally, if any were left, the melee fighters would take care of them at the very end.
Although Dhruv could both use melee and magic as well he decided to go as a mage and moved to the very front of the line. When he arrived in that area, he finally discovered the type of monster they were hunting.
After killing all those monsters now I have to hunt these pesky little slimes... Yes, you heard me right, Now I have to kill the monsters who were crowned as the weakest type of monsters.
Dhruv promptly joined the line and observed how everyone was dealing with the slime monsters. As he had expected, everyone was performing exceptionally well. They followed a systematic approach to attack the slimes and would kill them very efficiently.
While they were effectively killing the monsters, Dhruv noticed that the time they took to kill one slime was much longer than he had expected.
Dhruv could take out almost all the slimes in front of him with a single spell. However, when he looked beside him, he was surprised to see that the old man next to him needed at least three spells to kill one of the slimes.
Not wanting to stand out too much, he signaled to the group to cast their lowest-level spell. He followed suit and cast metal bullets using the minimum amount of mana. After preparing the spell, instead of immediately casting the spell, he waited. When the old man cast his spell, Dhruv cast his spell at the same time as well.
Even after using the lowest-level spell with minimum mana, he killed the slime in one hit. After killing the slime he looked at the notification to learn the real name of the monster...
[You have killed the monster, Acid Slime.]
[You have gained exp.]
[You have earned 20 CC.]
’From the amount of coins they had dropped they should be at Tier 1. Is there a crack from which they are emerging? But even if there are cracks, shouldn’t they have stopped coming out by now?’ Dhruv pondered.
While contemplating this, Dhruv surveyed his surroundings and noticed that all the slimes looked the same, indicating that they were all at Tier 1.
’Even if the monsters are still emerging from the crack, shouldn’t they be at Tier 3 or even Tier 4 by now? Why do they all appear to be at Tier 1?’ Dhruv wondered, struggling to make sense of this situation.
Even while thinking he continued to cast his spells and kill the slimes. After another minute of killing them a sudden realization struck him.
’Don’t tell me they are reproducing,’ Dhruv thought, considering this seemingly crazy idea. However, the more he thought about it, the more it seemed like a possible explanation.
After this realization, when he looked at the slimes closely, he noticed that after killing a slime, it would leave a jelly type substance as a corpse. While most of the slimes were still attempting to attack them, there were also some that seemed to be transporting this jelly-like substance back to where they had come from.
’Doesn’t that make this an infinite Coins glitch.’ Dhruv was shocked by this revelation but he couldn’t do something about it and continue killing the mosters.
...
’Man! The time it takes for this old man to cast one spell, I could cast three spells in that timeframe,’ Dhruv thought to himself, growing increasingly frustrated by the old man’s slow casting speed.
"You know, it’s rude to stare at someone, young man," the old man remarked with a calm expression.
Dhruv looked at old man and after seeing that he was addressin him he apolized, "Sorry, my bad,"
The old man nodded and acceptance his apology.
Seizing the opportunity for a small talk and hoping to gather some information, Dhruv asked, "Say, old man, what are they going to do with us after we’ve killed the monsters?" he was eager to uncover the true reason behind this facade.
The old man listened to his question and thought a bit. After casting his spell he looked at Dhruv and said.
"After we’ve killed the monsters, they will come and collect all the coins we get from killing," the old man explained.
Curious about what they could do with the coins, Dhruv inquired once more, "What are they going to do with the coins?"
After hearing the question, the old man cautiously glanced to his left and right to ensure no guards were nearby. Satisfied that no one was beside him, he whispered, "I don’t know all the details, but after collecting the coins, they would transfer them to one of the major families."
Dhruv’s mind raced as he considered this information. ’Transfer coins to one of the families... Is he talking about one of the major families?’ Dhruv wondered as a list of various prominent families appeared in his mind.
"Which one?" Dhruv whispers.
