Chapter 161: Enter Two New Teachers

As soon as Nate and Sam entered the room, they saw two very beautiful teachers standing in the front of the club. Since this was an afterschool club, not a class, there were only a few handful of students who showed up, all sitting on the floor.

The place was wide open, but a little smaller compared to some of their other classes. On the walls were mirrors and punching bags, as well as a slightly cushioned floor common in these types of classes.

However, Nate didn’t seem to care about the lower student count, as he was far more preoccupied with the two teachers at the front. The way their long, golden hair flowed, their smooth skin, their gorgeous green eyes, and their symmetrical faces... Needless to say, Nate had hearts in his eyes.

’But wait, I heard a student say one of them is a girl... which one is the girl?’

"Is this the martial arts club?" Sam asked.

"It is," Pai, the longer haired one out of the two, monotoned, and glanced over to his sister, "I believe this is everyone."

Vicky smirked, "If that’s the case, then let’s get started! Would any of you be my first willing..."

She snapped her fingers, trying to find the right word, "... Participant."

Nate immediately raised his hand, "I would be willing!"

"Great!" Vicky grinned widely, showcasing all of her teeth, "Just get up here, and join me on the mat. Our first lesson here today will be how to immediately disarm someone in a fell swoop."

"Huh? But I’m not using a weapon?" Nate pointed out.

Pai leaned against the wall, and muttered, "Careful, Vicky. Make sure you don’t do that literally."

Vicky mimicked talking with her hand, "Don’t worry about it Pai, I don’t wanna get arrested on my first week out."

"I did warn you sister," Pai whispered as he decided to watch the lesson carefully. Knowing his sister, he would need to play referee.

"They’re joking, right?" A student whispered to her friend.

"There’s no way the military would hire someone who would harm their students," he replied.

"Now then," Vicky started her lecture, "I want you all to watch my moves closely, and take notes. I’ll slow down to make sure you can keep up."

Sam took a seat on the floor with the other students, and flashed a worried look to Nate, who just gave him a silent thumbs up.

’This better not be his attempt at shooting your shot, you can’t date a teacher, man!’

Nate lowered his body into a fighting stance, and immediately began activating his ability, "Now, don’t get upset when I—"

Before he could finish his sentence, Vicky swung a kick into Nate’s left arm, and, maintaining the momentum, hopped onto her other foot, and bashed his other arm with her right leg. He fell on his back in what was a single second of standing.

"Nate, are you okay?!" Sam called out.

Nate slowly lifted his body, and glanced down at where he was kicked. Even though he intended to use his ability on his arms to pack a stronger punch, he couldn’t help but feel like he had just narrowly kept his limbs attached by doing that.

"I’m fine but..." Nate attempted to lift his arms, but they limply flailed.

Vicky dusted off her hands, and turned to her students with a condescending smile, "Now, did you all catch that?"

All of the student’s jaws were on the floor, too shocked to even respond. One of them had a speed ability and he couldn’t even keep up. It made them all wonder just what she was capable of.

"...I’ll take that as a yes, now, are there any other volunteers?"

In doctor Hayley’s office, Quinn, Merah had taken "Vorden" to be checked up, but after some inspection, it was clear that there was nothing physically wrong with him, aside from a few mild wounds from their earlier spar.

Meanwhile, inside of their mind, Vorden was in the back with Raten, trying to figure out how to get control over the little one. He was still on the chair, but instead of using it like how Raten or Vorden did, he had reverted back to his very stiff state. The only change now was that the little one was tearing up.

"We finally get him to move, and I don’t know if it’s better or worse than before, but I’d say this is worse," Raten scoffed.

"Quiet, Raten," Vorden said, "Don’t upset him more than you already have."

Then he added, "And don’t even say that ’he can’t hear us’ because he clearly did see you fight Quinn just now."

Raten shot his arms up, "Well what are we going to do?! We both know that neither of us can take control of the chair while he’s on it."

Vorden sighed, and walked over to the little one, trying to see if he can get through to him. He didn’t appear to be responsive, his head drooping as he was staring at nothing in particular.

"Hey, are you there?" He carefully asked.

The little one blinked, and Vorden took it as a hopeful sign.

"If you were worried about Quinn, then just know that we didn’t break him. We were trying to be careful on purpose."

The little one sniffled, and Vorden put his hand on his shoulder.

"See for yourself, he’s fine."

In the little one’s vision of the outside world, his head slightly lifted to find Quinn talking to Hayley. The curly haired boy seemed to be standing, and breathing just fine, but kept glancing over at him, clearly worried about his well being.

The corners of the little one’s mouth curled slightly. He was safe and alive.

The little one’s spirit body fell limp, knowing that he could rest, and Vorden caught him before he fell off the chair.

"Hand him to me," Raten said, taking the little one off of his arms, "You just go and do your talking thing or whatever."

With the chair now free, Vorden immediately got back on to hear the trail end of whatever Hayley was saying.

"—kind of reaction only comes from intense trauma."

Internally, Vorden grimaced a little, ’don’t talk about me like that!’

He shifted his body to sit upright, causing Quinn to hear he was moving again. From what Quinn saw, Vorden was no longer in a ’dazed’ state, and appeared more lucid.

Vorden wiped his tears. His eyes stung, and he had to figure out in only a few seconds how he was going to explain all of this.
