Chapter 137: Arrow Shower

A boy with silvery skin and nose piercings charged at Erin, shifting his arm into a blade and slashing at her.

She leapt back from the strike but had to sidestep again as he thrusted a second blade arm. Thankfully, Erin was much faster than the hardening user in front of her who seemed to be a level 3, but she was still at the mercy of the sun.

Her rattaclaw chest piece was too damaged to properly cover her arms now, meaning she wouldn’t be able to strike back without getting exposed to the sun.

’It’s a risk to drop my umbrella, but I would still be faster than a normal person, and my weapon would give me stats,’ Erin contemplated as she leapt out of the way of a pair of giant hair fists attempting to grab her, ’But even though no one here has beast gear, they’re just too many people to dodge.’

A guy in a blue sweater was standing a bit further away, intending to provide support from the back. He threw a stone spear at Erin, which she promptly dodged, following up by sprinting up to his face, eyes glowing.

"Go to sleep!"

Immediately, the guy’s eyes glossed over, and he fell to the ground, no longer conscious.

There was now one less person in the fight, but Erin couldn’t celebrate for long as a sand filled gust flew at her, coming from a pair of girls combining their abilities together.

[All stats will be reduced by 70% while in the sunlight]

The intense wind caused her umbrella to blow out, unable to properly cover her.

She felt the effects of the sun immediately, her movements growing sluggish. Despite her best efforts to push through the wind, Erin was finding it difficult to stay firmly grounded. Her strength was at a 10, but it was only due to her beast weapon that she could stay standing.

’This damn sunlight is ruining everything again,’ Erin thought, trying to endure her conditions.

Layla, despite not being affected by the sun, was struggling in a different way. Surrounded by several targets at all sides, she couldn’t fight like normal using her bow. Speed archery wasn’t something she had practiced as well.

’I can’t draw an arrow in time!’ Layla thought to herself.

One thing that was helping, however, was her slightly improved speed, as she was finding herself able to dodge the onslaught of a few of the attackers.

Jumping out of the way of a green energy blast, Layla began to draw an arrow but had to duck under a massive hair fist before she could get the shot off. Glancing over, she saw a girl with long, red twin pigtails that extended to form the fist that attacked her.

Just as Layla was about to get up, she heard the sound of liquid metal rushing behind her and tilted her body just in time for a silvery spike to barely scrape her arm.

’Crap! That was close!’ Layla nervously gulped. She really didn’t want to get impaled again.

Layla narrowly jumped out of the way of a wind slash, but as she did, the side of her ribcage was struck by a silvery fist, causing her to fall to the floor. Even though she was now faster, she wasn’t as fast as Erin’s full speed.

’I don’t have a suitable weapon or ability I can use when I’m surrounded!’ Layla frantically thought, ’What can I do?’

Then an idea popped in her head.

Using her slightly enhanced speed, she rolled away from the others just enough to give her the time to grab a handful of arrows and aimed up in the air.

’I hope this works.’

The flat side of her ring touched the ends of a few of her arrows, giving a few of them a flaming effect. Then, she let go, and the arrows shot up high into the sky

A few of the fighters saw what Layla had done, and tried to retreat, including the two girls blowing Erin with sandy wind. Meanwhile, the girl with the red pig tails threw them towards Layla wrapping her in a cocoon.

"You’re not getting away from your own arrows!" The girl shouted, gritting her teeth.

Layla glanced up, then back at the girl holding her with a determined look, "I wouldn’t have fired them if I was going to shoot myself!"

The pig tailed girl growled, and threw Layla at Erin with all her might. Thankfully, Erin had managed to fix her umbrella in time, and caught Layla with one free arm, dropping her sword.

With Erin preoccupied, the attackers who retreated briefly contemplated returning into the battle, but then the first arrow embedded into the ground next to the boy with silvery skin.

"Just one arrow?" The girl using the wind ability raised an eyebrow, pointing at it.

Right then, a flaming arrow lodged itself into her outstretched arm, and she screamed in pain.

Several more arrows fell from the sky, and the fighters began to try to avoid them. The boy with the green energy ability saw an arrow right above him, and tried to run out of the way, but it was as if it followed where he was going, and crashed into his back.

While they were preoccupied with the arrows, Erin charged her rapier into the silver skinned boy, aiming for a part where his ability didn’t cover his collarbone. When he saw her in the corner of his eye, he tried to activate his MC there, but just as he thought it, the paleneedle had already pierced him.

’So that’s what it’s like... to be stabbed...!’ The silver skinned boy thought, before collapsing.

Erin kept rushing the fighters, too distracted by the falling arrows that Layla began adding to, constantly shooting up in the air. One by one, all of their opponents kept getting injured, except for one.

A boy of the group who wore a scarf over his mouth stood a bit further away from the others, keeping watch of how Erin and Layla fought.

’According to the records, that level 2 is named Layla, and has a telekinesis ability,’ He thought to himself, ’But... Erin... Why isn’t she using her ice ability?’

As she cut down each member of his group, he had come to a single conclusion.

’We have all the evidence now, I need to tell Mono immediately.’
