Chapter 468: Chapter 60 - Teasingly Mio
I held the last report paper, which made me silent for a moment.
Once my mind entered focus mode and my eyes were in a slow-moving time zone, it helped me to complete the written report compiled by Madam Estelle in fast-paced.
The last report I was reading had a special note from Madam Estelle and Lisa, a note that was deliberately left in red ink and a danger mark that no entry was allowed.
In other words, it is a forbidden place that cannot be entered, and those who violate the prohibition will receive an unwanted nature surprise. Like a poisonous air from plant pollen and nests of monsters immune to the plant’s poison. Just that little bit of that information will make my mother happy, and she will do some research on the poisonous plant.
Given the current circumstances, take a sampling the poisonous plant would be quite a challenge for the exploration unit.
However...
"They’ve got the plant samples, huh?" I grumbled, staring at the glass jar marked with a red lid and a magic seal that reinforced the glass jar’s coating to make it impact-resistant.
My eyes immediately looked at the map and search the plant codes, then my hand moved to drawing a mark that indicated danger location on the map.
Srreeettt...
Srreettt...
By drawing a mark with skull symbol, I’ve marked the area on the map as a forbidden place and dangerous to enter.
No matter what preparations Madam Estelle and Lisa have made, they’ve managed to obtain a sample of a deadly, poisonous plant and put it on sealed glass jar.
As I completed the final report in my hand and marked its location on the map, my vision, which had been in a slow time zone, returned to normal. My concentration while working seemed to have inadvertently activated a focus ability equivalent to Mio’s danger detection ability.
Whether it was Mio’s ability or the ability of the other women who had formed a Linked Ritual with me, it was a great help to me, who wanted to finish my report before midnight.
"Finally, it’s finished," I said while glancing at Mio, who looked confused when she looked at me.
"Is there something wrong with me, Mio?"
"Why are you looking at me like that?"
With a shocked look in her eyes and a wide open mouth, Mio was seen standing frozen, and her hand was holding a spoon filled with food for me to eat.
Choommmp...
Choommmp...
I quickly ate the spoonful of food and woke up Mio, who was standing frozen beside me.
"Lily-sama, I didn’t misunderstand... what you did earlier, did I?" Mio asked, looking at me with a faint, doubtful smile.
"W-What did you see earlier?" I replied, looking at Mio with a confused expression on my face.
"U-Uuhh... Ummm..." Mio looked confused as she answered my question and put down the plate she was holding, her hands immediately reaching for several sheets of report paper that I had been reading.
Mio’s gaze shifted from the report I’d read and gotten my signature on. As she read, she occasionally glanced at the small code written on the map and the samples on the table.
"Lily-sama has matched the location report and the samples, right?"
"Lily-sama didn’t just randomly sign this report, right?" Mio asked, picking up another report at random to double-check it.
Somehow, I felt like Mio was doubting me because my work was finished quickly.
"You know... I can’t possibly just sign something carelessly when it comes to the potential nature resources that the Marquess Rommel family could exploit in the future, can I?" I replied, placing the last report onto the pile of papers Mio was holding.
"I-I didn’t mean to doubt Lily-sama’s fast work performance, just trying to be more sure and thorough without any mistakes," Mio replied while glancing at the map displayed in front of me.
I think, I understand what Mio is thinking.
To a normal person, I might appear to be doing my job carelessly, merely signing off on a legitimate report. However, I was working in a slower time zone and reading every report Madam Estelle had compiled.
"It’s true... My work performance is faster, that’s because I confirm the location based on the paper report and numbering code of the samples that have been taken. If there is a number code and sample results that have been found, I will just sign it as a complete report," I replied as I stood up and took a glass jar containing a sample of a dangerous plant.
It might look like I’m doing a sloppy job in Mio’s eyes, so I’ll prove to myself that I’m not doing a sloppy job by taking some samples of mildly poisonous plants.
Taaakkk...
Taaakkk...
While standing and remembering the glass jar samples containing mildly poisonous plants, I separated some of the glass jar samples in front of me and glanced at Mio.
"With a simple plant code and a sample of the plant, it actually proves Lisa’s information, because we have the sample on it. What we need to do after that... is to focus on how to determine whether the sample is dangerous or not," I continued, taking a sample containing a mildly poisonous plant.
Based on the information left in my head, the plant sample should have a mild, non-lethal poison.
"The report I read... these plant samples contain a mild poison that can relax the body’s muscles to the point of unconsciousness. Want to try it, Mio?" I said teasingly and took out the plant sample that had a number code attached to the center of the glass jar.
Mio’s panicked and her eyes immediately searched for a number code that matched the number code attached to the glass jar, I hold.
"L-Lily-sama..." Mio looked panicked after seeing the glass jar I was holding, slowly open.
Poommm!!
By opening the lid of the glass jar containing the mildly poisonous plant sample, I quickly plucked one of its rough-tasting leaves and ate it.
Choommmp!!
"LILY-SAMAAAA!!" Mio’s face turned into panic after seeing me daring to eat a mildly poisonous plant.
"There’s no need to panic, Mio. This is a mildly poisonous plant that isn’t fatal. Isn’t that right, Lisa?" I asked Lisa, who was nearby and busy talking with Madam Estelle about military report writing techniques.
"Yes, no problem, Lily-sama. As long as you don’t eat the roots, which are filled with concentrated poison," said Lisa, who glanced at me and looked at the glass jar I was holding.
"It’s not fatal... it just causes temporary paralysis," Lisa continued, and went back to her business.
I quickly glanced at Mio and smiled softly.
"Did you hear that, Mio?"
"Lisa said it was safe and not fatal. I actually read the report paper that I signed, Hahaha!!" I said teasingly to Mio, whose face was now pale with panic.
Swooppp!!
"LILY-SAMAA!! DON’T JOKE AROUND LIKE THAT!!" With a quick hand movement, Mio managed to grab the glass jar that I was holding and closed it tightly again.
"I-I understand now!!"
"Lily-sama has worked diligently, and there’s no need to doubt it!!"
"More importantly, I’m going to get the antidote right away!!"
"So wait here! Don’t go anywhere! And don’t touch anything related to poisonous plants!!"
Booossshhh!!
Swoooossshhh!!
With fast running footsteps, Mio immediately left the Central Command tent and seemed to be in a hurry to get the antidote potion.
Seeing Mio leave quickly and filled with panic, it made me smile.
"What a funny panic face," I muttered as I leaned back against the back of my chair and enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere after finishing my work.
While waiting for Mio to return and enjoying this free time to relax, I glanced at my twin sisters, who were busy reading a scroll containing a nature magic incantation.
"Nature magic spell, huh?"
"I can use nature magic spells without being taught by the Forest Elf race with the help of the Goddess of Nature’s blessings, though..."
"But to cast nature magic without the aid of the Goddess of Nature’s blessing, it seems I’ll have to learn the basic techniques first."
"Waiting for Mio to take the antidote potion will definitely feel long... I’d better use this free time to relax and learn new magic," I decided on my course of action and immediately stood up from my chair.
Srraaakkk...
Cttuuunngg!!
Ctttuunnngg!!
As I stood up from my chair, I suddenly felt my leg muscles tighten and stiffen.
"The poison’s effects have spread, huh?" I grumbled softly, trying to fight the poison that was starting to spread through my leg muscles.
I had eaten a small amount of leaf pieces, so the active poison effect in my body should not be too much and still bearable for doing small activities.
Tap...
Tap...
My steps felt heavy and shaky, but they still felt normal and not like I was poisoned.
If I’m not mistaken, I have poison resistance from Yulia. As a doctor working for Marquess Rommel’s family, she possesses a higher level of poison resistance than the Black Maid unit.
I don’t know why... I should be able to endure this mild poison, after it feels too heavy to move.
Did it happen because I wasn’t used to my body being poisoned?
But I’ve been through conditions worse than poisoning, and I’ve still managed to survive until now...
Uuhh, yeah...
It wasn’t poisoning, but rather corrosion caused by a dark magic unknown in the past, but now that it’s been revealed, it’s a magic that originated from the mother monster who stole the Goddess of Destruction’s vessel.
Compared to the poison that torments the blood in the body, the corrosive black magic that destroys a magic core it is far more deadly and painful.
