Sei hadn't been this stressed in forever and a day.
Tonight was Malachi's birthday dinner, and she had volunteered to cook everything herself!
For some god forsaken reason, she'd stubbornly argued against hiring a caterer when the others had suggested it.
Her fiancé only got one 23rd birthday in his life and she was for damn sure going to make sure it was special for him!
The only problem with this desire was that Sei was a bit out of practice when it came to cooking.
Unintentionally, Malachi had ended up taking over most of the cooking these past few weeks. His longing for 'tastes of home' had been coming out in full force since moving to the Big Apple.
As a result, See had gotten to enjoy a much more leisure life than she was ever used to.
She woke up. Had sex. Ate breakfast. Helped homeschool Cami. Had sex. Went grocery shopping. Had sex again. Maybe read or watched some tv. Ate dinner. Showered. Had sex. Went to bed. And then got woken up with more sex!
Her life was as stress free as it could possibly be! And now that was coming back to bite her in the butt!
She felt a hand graze against her lower back and a familiar worried, albeit very sultry voice played in her ears.
"You've got a lot of fires going here, love..." Joanne surveyed the stove that already had several different kinds of cuisines cooking on it.
The oven was working overtime too…
"Ah, I'm glad you're here." Sei grabbed a clean spoon from the stovetop and dunked it into a pot. "Taste this please."
Joanne didn't really get a chance to object before Sei blew on the spoon and popped the still warm food into her mouth.
Her face turned bright red as she struggled not to burn the inside of her mouth on a spoonful of hot grits.

"H-How is it??" Sei asked- clearly nervous.
Joanne held up both of her thumbs and forced a smile.
"I-It's great. Albeit a hazard to my esophagus."
Sei seemed to only focus on the first part of that comment and sighed in relief.
"Thank goodness... Now get out of my kitchen so I can finish."
"Are you sure you don't-"
"Positive, now goodbye my little angel!!" Sei began forcefully dragging Joanne out of the kitchen.
Ordinarily, she would have stuck around a bit more and tried to help her- but she was honestly afraid of how Sei would chase her out of the kitchen next time.
Since she had already finished setting up for the most part, Joanne wandered into the bedroom where the other girls sat.
Bianca, Nadine, and little Cami were sitting on top of the bed and wrapping their last gifts. Supposedly, Luna and Anna way on their way back home with the cake and everyone else was scheduled to arrive in under an hour.
"Having some difficulty, little miss?" Joanne chuckled as she lay on her stomach in front of Camille and her badly wrapped present.
Knowing Cami, she had stubbornly insisted that she could wrap a gift from her dad on her own and what was sitting in front of her was the result.
But to Joanne's surprise, Cami shook her head and pointed up- at her blonde haired, violet eyed mother who's lap she was currently sitting in.
Nadine's cheeks became flushed and she straightened her glasses. "W-What are you talking about, peach-pie? Oh, you mean because I'm helping you fix your little present?"
Camille turned her gaze back to Joanne with a dry, unamused look.
She then watched their daughter waddle across the bed and pick up another, more neatly wrapped present.
"O-Oh, are you showing her the one we did together?" Nadine smiled bashfully.
Camille continued to stare at Joanne. Completely unamused.
Joanne glanced at Bianca and found her working suspiciously hard not to be involved in the conversation.
"Together, huh?" Joanne smiled knowingly as she pulled out her phone. "Well let me see how you guys do it. Our family album needs more cute moments like this in it."
Nadine's already pale complexion worsened even further.
"I-I would, but I have to go to the bathroom for a bit."
Joanne smirked. "You don't pee."
"I-I'm interested in trying new things today, okay?!"
"Nadine."
"Be right back, I promise!"
Nadine was about halfway to the bathroom door when she suddenly yelped and fell through the floor.
Joanne crawled over the bed to stare at where Nadine had supposedly fallen.
She was nowhere to be found.
"Bianca, tell me something, homey."
"Hm?" Bianca looked up.
"Are all vampires this prideful, or did we just get a special one?"

Instead of answering right away, Bianca crawled towards their young and innocent daughter.
"Why don't you answer that for us, Ms. Mama. You feel prideful?"
"…Heh."
Cami flicked her short hair behind her ear and folded her arms as if she didn't even need to ask.
"Seems like that's our answer then. They're all kind of hopeless."
-
Nadine yelled as she fell through the darkness without being able to stop herself.
She landed right into a pair of strong, familiar arms. They held her firm as she hyperventilated.
"You're so adorable. I had no idea you were scared of a little fall."
Nadine looked like she was going to punch Malachi until she remembered that it was his birthday.
The polite thing to do was at least wait until tomorrow to give him a black eye.
"You… are so lucky I love you." She hissed.
Malachi smiled innocently. "You're lucky I love you too. That's why I want to help you."
"I-I can wrap your gift on my own, I swear!"
"What..?"
"What?"
Nadine blushed and looked away again. Judging by the lost look on her fiancés face, he had no idea of her prior failings to wrap his present.
"A-Anyway, what's up?" She changed the subject in an unusually high voice.
Malachi pointed behind them at Aisha, who was floating through her void with her car on her shoulders.
"This is cool and all guys, but I really think I'm going to be sick! Can we get this over with already and go home??"
Nadine raised a brow. "Over with..?"
Malachi smiled as he pressed his forehead against her.
"Aisha's going to help you now… you're not going to be sick anymore."
