Chapter 69: Meeting Harribel Again

"This way, 3rd Seat Uchiha, please."

The guards bowed deeply and cleared a path.

Yato gave a nod and stepped into the Senkaimon.

The moment he set foot inside, as far as the eye could see, there was nothing but an endless expanse of white desert.

The sky was gloomy, fierce winds howled, and the Reishi density was incredibly high—far exceeding that of the Seireitei.

—Yato had once again arrived in Hueco Mundo.

With a clack, the doors of the Senkaimon closed, severing the youth’s connection to the Soul Society and making his black Shihakusho look exceptionally striking against the white desert.

When Hollows invaded the Soul Society, they were swiftly cleaned up by the Gotei 13; when a Soul Reaper entered Hueco Mundo, the dangers were equally immense.

Even now, many Hollows stubbornly believed that devouring a Soul Reaper’s soul could accelerate their evolution and fill the void in their hearts.

The former had some truth to it, but the latter was pure nonsense.

Yato Uchiha released his Zanpakuto, maintaining the bare minimum single-tomoe state. Following the map’s guidance, he moved deeper into Hueco Mundo.

"I’m getting a little close to Las Noches... But it doesn’t matter, it’s on the way anyway."

...

Ten days later, at the base of a massive sand dune.

A Menos Grande that looked like a colossal centipede reared its head high. Its venomous mandibles spread wide as Reishi gathered within its terrifying maw, condensing into a visible orb of light.

"Cero!"

It roared fiercely, launching the dense sphere of Reishi forward.

This Cero pierced through the sand dune, blasted the ground to pieces, and incinerated the air, nearly reshaping the entire landscape!

However, the devastating Cero simply passed straight through the young Soul Reaper’s body as if piercing a phantom, failing to inflict even a scratch on him.

"Not bad power." Yato Uchiha flicked the corner of his robes. Purposefully mimicking Aizen’s mild, mellow tone, he chuckled softly,

"Want to fire another one?"

The centipede-type Menos Grande recoiled in shock—although its face was covered by a mask, its barbed walking legs uniformly drew back, clearly indicating immense internal panic and fear.

’Damn Soul Reaper... Is this his Zanpakuto’s ability?’

The Menos stepped backward. Though it had only recently evolved into an Adjuchas, its considerable intelligence was screaming at it: The enemy in front of it was bizarrely powerful. It had to flee!

Thus, in the next instant, the bone armor covering its body suddenly cracked open. From its dozen-odd body segments, pairs of membranous, translucent wings extended!

Flapping over a dozen pairs of wings in unison, its heavy body rapidly lifted off the ground. Adjusting its direction in midair, it prepared to fly as far away from this terrifying Soul Reaper as possible.

"It really is a winged, flying-type Adjuchas." On the ground, Yato Uchiha narrowed his eyes, concentrating his Spiritual Pressure into the black pinwheel pattern in his left eye.

"Kamui!"

His gaze locked onto the Adjuchas’s abdomen. At a speed far surpassing any reflex nerve, the space abruptly distorted!

Purple blood rained down from the sky as the Adjuchas plummeted to the ground with a screech, severed into two halves.

But this pain only provoked its feral nature. It opened its maw wide, revealing its venomous fangs, fully intending to drag the damned Soul Reaper down to hell with it.

However, this desperate counter-bite snapped at empty air.

Because Yato’s hand had already touched its bone armor.

"Go inside and sleep for a bit."

The youth’s calm words were the very last sound this Adjuchas heard.

The colossal centipede Menos vanished without a trace, teleported directly into the Kamui dimension.

Yato shifted his eye into the Kamui dimension, confirming that the Adjuchas had lost consciousness.

He sealed the Menos using Bakudo and deactivated his Stage Three Shikai.

"As expected, the Sharingan truly is strongest when you have both eyes..."

He stroked Akame’s hilt, rested for a brief moment, and then headed off into the distance.

Guided by the map, Yato had managed to find all the specific Menos Grande the SRDI had locked onto over the past few days, shoving them into the Kamui dimension one by one.

Even a Soul Reaper stronger than Yato could never match this level of efficiency. After all, once a Menos was captured, they would normally have to return to the Soul Society to hand it over; they couldn’t exactly wander around Hueco Mundo dragging a massive Hollow behind them.

However, despite completing his mission, Yato didn’t head back immediately. Instead, he ventured deeper, sprinting toward a specific destination.

Half a day later, he stopped in front of a low mountain.

His Spiritual Pressure briefly flared up before rapidly extinguishing.

In Hueco Mundo, there was no faster way to announce one’s arrival.

"Bastard! Who’s there?"

A lion-like Hollow with dark brown skin and a golden mane leapt down from the mountain, roaring aggressively.

Yato’s tone was somewhat exasperated.

"It hasn’t even been three years since we last met. Is a lion’s memory really that bad?"

"You..." Mila Rose tilted her massive head. Suddenly, she jumped up, absolutely furious. Her surging Spiritual Pressure shattered the rocks beneath her paws.

"It’s you! You damned Soul Reaper and your cheap tricks! You actually dare to show your face here again?"

"It’s not a trick, it’s genjutsu."

"You bastard! Not only did you trick me, but you also dared to abduct Lady Harribel right out from under our noses! I’m going to take you right now and—"

"And do what to me?"

"Gouge out your eyes, puncture your throat, drain your blood, and hang your corpse out in the desert to dry!"

"Sounds quite fun, but your master might not be willing to part with me." Yato Uchiha cupped his hands around his mouth like a megaphone and shouted toward the depths of the low mountain,

"Harribel, I’ve got something I need to discuss with you!"

"Eeeehhh?! What do you think Lady Harribel is?! Why would she ever meet with a damned Soul—" The lion, Mila Rose, suddenly froze. She perked up her ears, and after confirming she hadn’t heard wrong, her head immediately drooped down.

"She’s letting me in?" Yato found it amusing and patted her mane.

"Lead the way."

"Hmph."

The dejected lion Menos sullenly guided Yato deeper into the low mountain, arriving at a wide-open rocky plateau.

Upon the plateau stood two Adjuchas-class Menos, one on the left and one on the right. One had the form of a python, while the other was a robust elk.

In the very center stood a Vasto Lorde with a form closely resembling a human female. She had long blonde hair, soft and elegant curves, and an overwhelmingly massive Spiritual Pressure.

"It’s you, Yato Uchiha." Harribel spoke slowly, her voice husky yet gentle.

"You’ve become an official Soul Reaper. Congratulations."

"I’m just a 3rd Seat, my training is still lacking." The youth flashed his badge and sighed.

"I came to Hueco Mundo this time specifically to see you."

Apache, Mila Rose, and Sun-Sun all widened their respective deer, lion, and snake eyes, glaring angrily at Yato Uchiha. Yet, driven by curiosity, they couldn’t help but steal glances at the blonde Menos to observe her reaction.

"Oh..." Harribel’s eyelids drooped slightly.

"What is it?"

"I have an enemy. Very strong. I need your help to deal with them."

"Hmm?" The beautiful brow of the blonde Menos furrowed, and a trace of inexplicable irritation flashed through her emerald green eyes.

"What an insolent guy you are, Yato Uchiha."

Harribel shook her head. Her fingers stroked her broadsword as she spoke softly.

"I will help you. But I am still a resident of Hueco Mundo... Do not make things difficult for me."

"Of course." Yato Uchiha grinned, pulling out two prepared portraits.

"It’s someone from the Soul Society."
