A projectile hit a golem at incredible speed, turning the breast plate inside out before catapulting it through a nearby building. It was a scene happening all over the place. Monique took a moment to identify what was going on.
The warriors of the Fang Clan were taking off weighted bracelets or clothing and using them as throwing weapons. Considering the effect. Their weight had to be tremendous. Monique had not foreseen this. Weighted clothing was not displayed as a debuff in the status...
Previously struggling warriors were now quickly overpowering the golems. The enemy force had completely transformed from one moment to the next. Not just martial power, but they started using massive attacks with incredible power that, in turn, leveled the outer section even better than the golems did.
Techniques versus Skills, it was now an even playing field. No, the Fang Clan actually had the advantage, despite the golems having the numbers. In response, Monique raised her spear, her eyes filled with divine lightning.
“Worthy Opponents! I declare this a war!” she exclaimed, and an explosion of silver, almost white, light, expanded from her. It did not damage nor affect the enemy. From the perspective of an onlooker, it was only a faint silver aura that had covered the whole urban battlefield. All buildings, all streets, all ruins were now covered in a slight glow.
<Athena's Battlefield>, a skill that could only be declared when fighting a decidedly equal or stronger enemy. The skill itself raised the morale of Monique's forces and their overall capabilities by 10%. However, it was a divine skill.
The moment Monique activated <Athena's Battlefield>, a reasonably good skill, in combination with her armor, the battle was over. The Golems were enveloped in an aura like silver flames, burning brightly, as their overall capabilities were more than doubled.
This little skirmish...was over.
...
Fang Mo An almost collapsed. Heroes and Fairies of the Great Fang Clan were brutally torn apart with bare hands by these crude savages. Just when they got a second wind and things seemed to develop in his favor, his future crumbled like wet paper.
Their warriors, experts at the Peak of the Golden Core and those with a solid step in the Nascent Soul Realm, were dying without being able to resist. To make it worse, he could only stay and watch. He spat up blood because his own true essence was on the verge of going berserk.
“Elder Mo An, what is going on?!” The serious, accusatory voice of a grumpy old badger was like an angelic choir in his ears. The ugly mug of external elder Lang Lifang was staring into his face, breathing disgusting, rotten air at him.
The man used to be one of his worst enemies, but his power was unquestionable. As an external elder, he was not a member born into the clan, but invited with money, precisely because of his talent, power, and technique. He was one of the people he begged to come for help.

“It's an assault! The enemy leader equals an expert in the Dao Seeking Realm and leads troops that rival spirit severing experts...” Mo An explained in a hurry. Lang Lifang looked at the slaughter below while he talked.
“How could you let it come this far?!” he asked, exasperated, watching their carefully curated troops being turned to minced meat.
“What do you even mean? I was just informed too, and immediately tried my best to assemble our forces, but the enemy is proceeding at terrible speed! It has not even been a joss stick's worth of time since the enemy appeared!” Mo An whimpered. He really couldn't be blamed. Things were just escalating too quickly. While he spoke, other elder finally arrived at the barrier of the inner estate, their reactions similar.
“Calm down, fellow Daoists. What should be important now is to save our seedlings,” one of the elders called for order, as every new arrival exclaimed in shock at the sight and tried to blame Mo An. While they bickered, their troops outside were rapidly decimated.
“ Leave it to me, my Cosmic Brush has 2000 Bristles that can turn into the equivalent of Quasi-Dao Seeking Experts,” one of the elders who had arrived said readily and flew at the edge of the barrier, looking down at the external estate.
Then he brought out a brush the size of a polearm from some kind of storage treasure and swung it in the air, writing the character of “Soldier”, using his true essence like luminous ink. He then stabbed through the shining character.
The bristles of his brush exploded forward, and each bristle turned into and ink black soldier. As he said, each of the ink soldiers possessed the aura of someone just one step away from the Dao Seeking Realm.
The swarm landed in the outer estate and rushed in to intercept the hundreds of battles and extract the wounded and flailing Fang Clan warriors. Although they lacked numbers compared to the enemy, they were quickly able to save the pitiful rest that remained of the hundreds of warriors Mo An had sent to intercept the enemy.
Again, the situation had changed in the blink of an eye. However, now the raging savages were no longer distracted by their warriors, but aiming straight for the defensive barrier of the inner estate. Everyone looked at the elder who had just used his treasure to save hundreds of young fledglings.
“Quick, use the ink soldiers to defend the barrier!” many of them advised once the warriors were in safety. However, the elder scratched his head embarrassedly when the ink soldiers started vanishing instead. The elders looked in shock, asking for explanations.
“What did you guys think? How am I supposed to sustain a force of that size and strength for a longer time? Of course, they would vanish quickly,” he explained, questioning their brains. Even if his Cosmic Brush was a Heaven-grade Artifact, there were clear restrictions. The duration lowered with the number of soldiers.
“If I could create such armies on the go, don't you think I would have already united this province under me?” he asked grumpily when the old codgers still wouldn't stop chewing into him.
“Order, fellow daoists! The enemy is standing at our gates!” the same elder as before called for their attention. The armored creatures had lined up along the barrier. At their helm stood a woman in glistening silver armor. She stopped in front of the barrier, pointing the spear directly at the group of elders floating in the sky.
“Will you come out to play, or do I have to come inside?” she asked cockily, for all to hear. “Doesn't matter, forget that I asked~” she immediately added and stepped forward, stabbing the barrier with her spear.
It looked like a simple motion, but the power hidden within cut through the secondary barrier like it was tofu. Mo An was not responsible for this barrier. This barrier was supposed to even stop the attacks of an immortal momentarily. Yet, it was pierced by such a seemingly simple attack.
As the spear pierced it, the defensive array was overpowered. The whole barrier dimmed before it locally shattered. The southern fifth of the barrier collapsed, opening the way for the enemy army. For a moment, the assembled elders were shocked before they activated emergency alarms across the whole estate.
Things had become serious.
