Chapter 303: Aurel vs. Dark Rebels
Dark Rebels stomped over the corpses of fallen soldiers, wicked grins behind their masks, and bloodlust oozing out of them.
Dark Rebels was a terrorist organization that dreamt of a world where there were no laws and only absolute freedom.
They believed that laws were created to control and oppress people and that freedom was restricted because of it.
"...Huh?"
In that moment, one of the Dark Rebels noticed a woman standing in the distance. She was dressed in armor.
Two swords hung from her hands, and eyes blazed with determination.
"Look who we got here... Aurel the Dancer... King Julius’ very own mercenary, haha... You fight for money, so why don’t you join our side?
"We can afford you."
Dark Rebel said with a smirk.
’I don’t fight for money. I fight for peace.’
Inside Raon’s head, he was able to hear Aurel’s voice, and then he opened the pink lips of the beautiful woman.
"I don’t fight for money. I fight for peace."
Raon repeated her words.
"Hahahaha!"
The Dark Rebels just laughed, like they were inside a comedy club, and heard a funny joke.
"Isn’t King Julius a warmonger? Why don’t you kill him if you’re so passionate about peace?"
’He isn’t a warmonger. Getting rid of you terrorist cells is to bring peace to the whole kingdom, the very thing that you want to destroy.’
"He isn’t a warmonger. Getting rid of you terrorist cells is to bring peace to the whole kingdom, the very thing that you want to destroy."
Fang Raon repeated Aurel once again.
"Pfft."
Dark Rebel scoffed, and then he pulled out his saber sword weapon and walked over the corpses, approaching her.
"Dying for King Julius won’t give you the honorable death that you’re wishing. I bet he won’t even care."
Dark Rebel said.
"You are mistaken. You are the one doing the dying."
Fang Raon said with power behind "her" tone.
Those words were his own, not Aurel’s.
"Hahahaha!"
Dark Rebel just laughed, and so did his skull-masked friends behind him.
"You don’t stand a chance against us."
"Heh."
A smirk appeared on the beautiful face of Aurel, and then she took a step forward and vanished like a mirage.
"?!"
Dark Rebel frowned, wondering, "Where did she go?" but then he felt something behind him.
It was too late, though.
"BEHIND YOU!"
"Beautiful Death Dance."
Aurel swung the sword, and the head of the Dark Rebel rolled off his shoulders and dropped into a mud puddle with a soft splash.
"SHIT!"
Dark Rebels panicked and clumsily pulled out their weapons as they just witnessed one of their fall by the hand of Aurel.
"You’re within my range."
Aurel said softly, and then she again disappeared and appeared in the middle of the Dark Rebels.
She swung the sword again.
Dark Rebels didn’t even have time to raise their swords as their bodies fell to the ground—headless bodies.
"DAMN IT!"
A Dark Rebel screamed, and thrust his sword at Aurel, but with her bare hand, she just grabbed the blade like it was nothing.
Crack~! The blade cracked and then shattered like glass.
"Ah?!"
Dark Rebel paled.
Aurel ran the blade through his throat and then sliced his head cleanly off from his body in one motion.
She walked over the corpse.
Hundreds of Dark Rebel members stood before her—a mighty force, indeed—but they all looked afraid.
"Why all afraid? You came to kill me, yes? I am the only thing standing between your victory and defeat. So... What are you waiting for?"
Aurel said with a giggle.
"KILL THIS BITCH!"
Dark Rebels screamed, charging forward with their weapons drawn.
"Heh~!"
Aurel crossed the swords in front of her chest, and then the left blade started emitting black light and the right blade started emitting purple light.
"Dark Petal Rush."
She swung the swords, but they were nowhere close to reaching Dark Rebels, but that wasn’t her intention.
In that moment.
Dark petals—black petals and purple petals—started to fly out of the blades and towards the Dark Rebels.
Dark Rebels thought nothing of them at first, but then, the petals touched a few of them, and deep stab wounds appeared on their skin.
As if someone stabbed a sword through their bodies.
"Aaaaarghhhhh!"
"I have been stabbed!"
"Avoid those petals at all costs!"
Dark Rebel screamed.
However.
It was easier said than done, as those dark petals moved at the speed of a bullet, and they seemed to be seeking them out with deadly accuracy.
STAB~! STAB~! STAB~!
The dark petals pierced through the army of Dark Rebels, making swiss cheese out of their ranks.
"URGH!"
"Aghh..."
"Gurgle~...!"
They all fell to the ground, defeated and lifeless.
’That was a magical attack. That means if I get legacy, I need to increase my mana attribute as well to use some of these skills.’
Fang Raon thought.
’You are already thinking that you have already received my legacy? Don’t get cocky. The hardest part is yet to come.’
Aurel said inside the mind.
’Hardest?’
Fang Raon frowned.
In that moment.
A black horse galloped towards them, carrying a rider cloaked in shadows. He witnessed the death of Dark Rebels.
The black horse stopped by the corpses. The rider slowly dismounted. Wearing a long black cloak that billowed behind him.
He definitely had black hair, and he was wearing a mask that covered everything under his blue eyes.
"...Indeed, Aurel the Dancer is powerful. I’ve heard great deal about your strength... and beauty."
The man said.
’He is Johan, the mastermind behind Dark Rebels. He is powerful.’
Aurel said.
"Blade Massacre!"
Without wasting any time, Fang Raon leaped forward, the swords slicing through the air, going straight for the head of Johan.
"Hmph."
Johan pulled out his sword and swatted the swords away with ease, like he was swatting away mere flies.
"?!"
Fang Raon frowned.
’You defeated him, right?’
He asked.
’...If you survive five minutes, you pass the second trial.’
Aurel said inside the mind, but she didn’t answer the question, and it pretty much sounded like she failed to defeat Johan in the past!
"I bet if we met in better circumstances, we could’ve been friends, Aurel. I know you have a good heart, even if your loyalty is misplaced.
"I will spare you as long as you let me pass."
Johan said.
’Sounds like a good deal.’
Fang Raon thought.
’You will fight him, just like I did... Five minutes, remember. There is no making a deal with him. You don’t know him.’
Aurel said.
’Yeah, I know. I was just joking.’
Fang Raon took a deep breath.
"Sorry, but I have already chosen my side, Johan."
Fang Raon said using Aurel’s voice and face.
"...Shame."
Johan said with a deep sigh.
Then, he moved his sword-wielding arm and whipped his sword at him, like he was swinging a leather whip.
"Graveborn Counter!"
Aurel gently pushed his sword away and immediately went for a counter with a sudden thrust to Johan’s side.
However.
Johan reacted immediately and parried the blow with impressive speed and precision. The rapier’s blade couldn’t quite reach him.
"Midnight Sever!"
Aurel swung the sword again, and the blade neared Johan’s throat, but as he pulled back his head, the blade just barely missed him.
Then.
Johan inched closer and started raining blows at her, but she then started dancing, weaving through his attacks like a graceful shadow.
"Dance Dance!"
Johan’s attacks failed to reach her as she danced with beautiful grace and elegance that even made him speechless.
"..."
He stopped attacking, and as soon as he did, Aurel also stopped dancing with a calm look on her face.
She didn’t look exhausted, even one bit.
"What a beautiful fighter you are. I will remember this battle for a long time."
Johan said.
It looked like he was going to try harder from now on. No more going easy.
’Four minutes.’
Aurel said inside her mind.
Swoosh~!
Johan dashed forward—the sword held in a thrusting position—he was going to try to pierce her abdomen.
"Dance Parry!"
Aurel flicked her wrist around, moving the sword with speed, not force, and deflected Johan’s attack.
"Black Kick!"
She pulled her leg back and kicked at him, but Johan blocked it with the side of his sword, but he still slid back a few meters.
"Step-in Cut!"
Aurel closed the gap and slashed, but Johan blocked in time and brought her sword down to the ground.
Swoosh~!
He swung the sword quickly and grazed Aurel’s cheek, leaving a thin red line behind, and she quickly jumped back to create some distance.
"You are not going anywhere!"
Johan swung the sword, even though he was nowhere near her, but it didn’t seem to matter as something manifested from the blade.
A slash of light appeared in the air, slicing through the space between them.
’Is that Reach?!’
Fang Raon thought with a shocked look.
Aurel quickly crossed the swords in front of her and blocked the flying slash, but it was immensely powerful.
"Ahhhh!"
She tried but couldn’t hold the attack back any longer and was sent flying back across the battlefield.
"..."
Johan looked calm.
