Chapter 183: Grandma’s teasing.
Seoha’s POV
My grandmother’s gentle hands lead us into the house.
The girls are taking off their shoes at the entrance and I am doing the same, only stopping when I look over my shoulder for Taesan.
He’s not with us.
The big alpha is leaning against the car, watching us with an unfamiliar look in his eyes, and I’m genuinely scared.
Anyone with a sane mind will be happy that their captor seems to be losing interest in them...but not me.
I love my captor, and I need him near me at all times.
Am I stupid? Yes. We have established that part a long time ago. I am a stupid deer that craves the tiger.
Grandma notices that I have stopped moving, so she looks back too, observing the situation.
"What’s wrong?" she asks, letting the girls go ahead of her into the house with her dog.
"I want to call Taesan in" I say shyly and she chuckles, patting my back with each small note of laughter.
"Dear boy...don’t you know? That man is drawn to you like a moth to a flame, just like you are drawn to him like a deer to a headlight" she says and I shake my head at her illustration.
"That’s not a good example Grandma" I pout and she pulls me down to kiss my cheek.
"I know" she says softly.
Her tone is light and weak enough to worry me, so I look at her face...she’s holding back tears.
"Grandma..." I whisper.
"Aigoo, these eyes are acting up" she says, fanning her face with her hands as if it would send the tears away, so I hold her hands to stop her.
She must be really worried for my life; moth to the flame means death, deer to the headlight means death.
And I’m not dying anytime soon, I told Taesan that I won’t end up like his mother, that I’ll survive in his world.
"Grandma, you won’t lose me like you lost my mom"
"I know grandson, I know" she smiles softly, subtly wiping the tears off.
"Then why are you crying?" my voice breaks as I ask the question, and instead of answering, she places her hand on my chest.
"I’m just proud of you, too proud" she whispers.
She slides the hand from my chest to my stomach, and I just watch the act quietly.
Taesan finally joins us at the door. He looks from grandma to me, then looks at grandma again.
"Is everything okay?" he asks and grandma returns to her usual playful self by scoffing.
"Shut up stone, now go in, I need to feed those beautiful babies"
"I’m your beautiful baby too" I say with a cute tone, and she laughs.
"Ah that’s right, don’t you look pretty in these clothes, my boy?" grandma asks, feeling the frill on my top and I smile at Taesan.
"I told you" he says softly, and the way his eyes roam my body makes me blush lightly.
I’m absolutely in love with how he is looking at me.
"My goddess, did you two come to remind me that I don’t have a husband to have sex with?" grandma groan dramatically.
"Grandmother!" I gasp.
"What the fuck?!" Taesan chokes on air.
"Modesty my old butt, now come in, come in" she says, still laughing gleefully as she ushers us in.
In the house, Sooin is staring up at grandfather’s picture. In the picture, grandfather is holding me on his lap.
I was still young, but I remember we went fishing and I wet myself when a fisherman put a living fish in my hand.
I cried so hard out of fear and embarrassment, so grandfather held me in his lap for the rest of the trip.
In the picture, my face looks solemn, my hair was lightly long, and my thumb was in my mouth.
"He looks like me!" Sooin announces when we walk in and I smile at her.
Yes, I see the resemblance, but it will be unfair to claim her when her father is still processing the heartbreaking information of her gene.
"Wow, so similar" Jisu adds, as she goes to stand next to Sooin.
I keep my eyes fixed on it too and Taesan snakes his arm around my waist, pressing a kiss to the side of my head.
"You were a beautiful child" he says.
"Hmm" I hum without having a response, what can I say?
"Why is everyone standing there, stay away from my handsome husband" grandma says playfully and we all slowly sit around the living room.
"This is a surprise visit, I’m so happy to have everyone" she says, passing a box of juice to each of us.
Grandma keeps them for the children that visits and run errands for her on some days.
"Grandma, you’re pretty" Sooin says all of a sudden and we all start to laugh, admiring how grandma looks.
Truly she looks pretty especially today.
Her hair is held back with a pink ribbon, and she’s wearing some red lipstick to match her dress.
"Do you have a date?" I ask and she rolls her eyes.
"Do you want me to tease you too?" she asks.
"I’m not teasing, you just look to pretty"
"Leave me alone, you" she points at Taesan who points at his own chest in surprise, "I didn’t tease you" he defends himself before grandma would strike.
"Who is talking about that? And you, Jiyoon" Grandma points at Jisu.
"Jisu, ma’am" the young lady corrects, and grandma sends an apologetic kiss her way, making me laugh.
’Goddess, I love this woman so much...thank you for giving me this one person even though I’m born into a messy family’.
The brief prayer reminds me of ghost, or rather, my older half-brother Hanbin.
I haven’t heard from him in a while now.
"We will be going to the market" Grandma continues to talk.
"I want to come too!" Sooin says, jumping to her feet and bouncing with excitement and grandma smiles fondly at her.
"Yes yes, little one, you can come"
"I’ll come too" I raise my hand to volunteer for the market trip, but grandma shakes her head.
"No, you stay and you sleep"
"Aw, why?" I ask, dropping my shoulders in disappointment.
"The plan has to be successful" she winks and gets up to leave me all alone in the house with Kumi the dog.
So unfair.
What is this great ’plan’ that even grandma knows about?
