Chapter 180: Family road trip!
Seoha’s POV
I catch myself kicking my legs like a child in the car as I sit with my hands on my lap.
Taesan went to bring the last bag containing our things for the two days break.
We are going to see my grandma; it will be the second time in less than two months.
This means a lot to me because I never got to see her all through the years I spent with Daeshin.
Now, an alpha with bad sense of direction and an empire to run is offering to drive me there.
I can’t wipe the smile off my face, neither can I take my eyes off my mate.
The handsome man is wearing a polo shirt with short sleeves that hug his bulging muscles.
Did he work out this morning while I prepared with Sooin for the trip?
"Dad! Hurry" Sooin calls from behind me.
She’s also bouncing with excitement the same way I am; it’s like we are unintentionally mirroring each other.
It’s so cute.
Sooin is wearing a pretty yellow top with frills and a pair of white shorts that has cute sun and cloud stitches on it.
I am wearing something similar with a little frill but no sun and clouds.
I was shy about wearing something that feels so ’feminine’, but Taesan encouraged it, telling me that he will be the only one looking at me.
That man...
He hasn’t called me by name all morning, it’s all manner of pet names; honey, darling...wifey.
"Why are you red? Are you hot?" the alpha asks when he returns and I shake my head, hiding my face from him.
"Look at me" he orders and my head snaps towards him.
Since I slipped into omegaspace with him last night; my whole body has been in tune with him.
His words feel like the command I crave, and like I’ve always wanted, I want to switch off my mind and let him control me.
But not with Sooin behind us, the child I sticking her head out of the window, calling for her ’Jisu unnie’ to join us quickly.
"You’re blushing" Taesan murmurs, reaching for my chin and swiping a thumb over my bottom lip.
I can’t help but blush harder, the look in his eyes is like he wants to cancel our trip.
"I’m here! Ha! Was I slow?" Jisu yells and Taesan gives me a private smile before letting go of me.
"Is it really okay for me to come?" the young woman asks curiously and Taesan responds by starting the engine.
"Yes, Jisu, having you with us will make it fun" I say.
"Or you just want someone to watch the baby while you-" Jisu’s word end when Taesan suddenly steps on the accelerator.
"Sorry" he says flatly and Jisu and I give each other a knowing look through the mirror.
So what, what if I plan to let Jisu babysit while we kiss for a while? It’s a good thing...no?
"Dad, look it’s a bird" Sooin says after thirty minutes of driving in silence and Taesan hums in agreement.
"It’s pretty, isn’t it?" he asks.
The father and daughter pair start to talk while I just sit there watching and listening.
It doesn’t feel out of place, it feels natural; just a father and child who genuinely love each other enough to have random conversations.
Who would ever think that he just found out that the child isn’t his?
"Daddy, I’m hungry" Sooin suddenly says, hugging me from behind with the car seat, and I look at Taesan.
The alpha is wearing a subtle smile.
Previously, he had accused me of stealing his daughter, now he’s happy that his daughter wants me involved in her life.
"Shall we stop to eat?" I ask and Taesan shrugs, focusing on the road.
"There is a really good fast-food place around that turning" Jisu says and I relay it to Sooin, "is a burger okay?"
"Can I have fries too?" the sweet girl asks and I ruffle her hair, "whatever you want, princess" I say and she smiles so hard that her eyes almost disappear.
"Dad always say that to me!" Sooin squeals, clapping her hands with excitement.
"Hmm, I want to love you like your dad loves you" I whisper and she gives me a kiss on my cheek.
"It’s okay daddy, you already love me big!" she says.
Jisu grabs the bottom of Sooin’s top and make her sit down with a plop.
The act sends laughter through the car and we feel just like a real family on a road trip.
"Here!" Jisu points at the fast-food restaurant.
"Let’s go, let’s go!" Sooin cheers.
"Go on" Taesan says and I shake my head, holding on to the seat belt.
I can’t go out...I’m dressed like this and that picture has been seen by many people...what if someone recognizes me?
"Ya, why won’t you come?" Jisu asks.
She has been watching us like a hawk, and if I didn’t know better, I would say she just wants to see us kiss.
"Go on, you and Sooin, buy whatever you want, Sooin knows my password" Taesan hands a credit card to Jisu without looking.
"It’s my birthday" Sooin whisper yells, and Jisu takes her out of the car into the restaurant.
That’s when I notice there have been men in a different car following us all along.
Two of the men in dark suit get out of the car and follow the girls into the restaurant at an unsuspicious distance.
"Why won’t you go?" Taesan asks and I drop my eyes to the gear where his hand is resting.
"I feel embarrassed" I say, feeling my cheeks grow even hotter and the alpha’s frown.
He is not pleased with my reason.
"Embarrassed?" he asks, and I nod slowly, playing with the frill at the bottom of my top.
"About what? Little deer?"
"I’m a male omega dressed like a woman...they make fun of us enough for having- mmfgh" Taesan shuts me up with a kiss.
His hand rest at my nape as he kisses me, slow and deep.
I almost panic because of where we are, but he doesn’t stop.
"What..." he says, breaking the kiss to look in my eyes, "any motherfucker thinks of you doesn’t matter, I..." he pauses to kiss me again.
"Only I matter"
"Do you understand?" he asks and my breath stutters in my throat.
Goddess, this isn’t pre-heat...is it?
"Do you understand?" he asks again, gripping my neck harder and I nod.
We didn’t notice the girl looking at us through the window with pinched brows and wrinkled nose.
"Um...are you done? Your daughter is in the middle of a restaurant wailing helplessly" Jisu says.
