Chapter 313: The Hong family territory
A huge white Windrend shot through the night sky like a white star. It travelled at a shocking speed that allowed it to cross several kilometres in seconds.
Three people sat on the Windrend’s back as it flew soundlessly, these three were Alex, President Shin, and Lishu.
Alex already knew that magic beasts were able to speak and possess intelligence that equalled that of humans after meeting Alicia, so he wasn’t surprised by the Windrend’s ability to speak.
What shocked him was the Windrend’s playful personality which was very different from Alicia’s. It behaved like a playful teenage kid who was always ready to make friends.
While they travelled, Alex learned that the Windrend was Lishu’s third contracted magic beast. Contracted beasts were different from summoned beasts, they were found in the real world and could stay inside their summoner’s soul sea after successfully forming a contract.
The Windrend was quite chatty, and so was Lishu. Both of them chatted nonstop about things that didn’t make sense to Alex.
The Windrend tried engaging him in a conversation as well but Alex wasn’t interested, he preferred to just watch.
After almost an hour of flying through the clouds, they finally arrived at their destination and the Windrend descended from the sky.
A massive area that looked like a small town appeared in front of Alex’s eyes. Numerous pagodas that were rather small compared to the previous one filled the place, tall buildings and grand pavilions occupied the whole place.
"We’ve reached the Hong family territory!" The cheerful voice of the Windrend rang out.
Alex stared down, slightly in disbelief. All of this belonged to a single family? The Osworth mansion couldn’t compare to it!
Well, it made sense. One was called a mansion while the other was a territory.
While they were descending, Alex released his senses and scanned the place. But his senses were blocked right at the front of the first building.
A powerful formation was protecting the entire place!
"Interesting," Alex mumbled softly. His words caused Lishu and President Shin to look at him, wondering what he found interesting.
"Who goes there?!" A powerful voice resounded through the night sky as several figures appeared outside the massive Hong family territory, as if they had detected that someone was trying to probe into their home.
Lishu and President Shin looked down and then back at Mr Chen.
He definitely did something!
They thought in unison.
The Windrend finally landed on the ground and the three of them jumped off. After which the Windrend transformed into its human form and stood beside Lishu.
The Windrend’s human form was a young teenage boy with a very handsome face and short white hair. Adding his robe that had a similar style to Lishu’s, the two looked like an elder sister and kid brother duo.
President Shin stepped forward and met the people who had come out of the Hong family territory.
"No need for alarm, it’s me." He said calmly.
"President Shin? I know that white Windrend looked familiar,"
One of them, a huge man in bronze armour with dragon carving, voiced out in surprise. He had an arrogant face with sharp eyebrows as he stared at Shin.
Beside this man were four other people in similar bronze armour which was obviously a uniform, all five of them were at the Sage mage rank.
’Using Sage mages as guards, this Hong family is really something.’ Alex thought as he watched the interaction between President Shin and these people.
"Haha, it’s not surprising. Only my Union’s Feng Lishu has a white Windrend in the whole continent." President Shin laughed while bragging about Lishu’s contracted beast.
Lishu, who was standing at the back, blushed a bit with a small smile forming on her small lips.
"Hahaha, that’s right, that’s right. Such a powerful beast can only belong to the Union." The man in the middle laughed as well, and his nervousness disappeared.
It was a good thing that the Windrend belonged to the Union, a beast with such strength would have been a nightmare for Sage rank mages like them. They couldn’t risk letting anything cause a nuisance within their territory.
"But may I ask why President Shin has come to our territory at this hour? I believe you’re aware that visitors aren’t allowed at night unless specially invited? Forgive me but I didn’t receive any news of your visit." The man added after laughing for a bit.
His face held a difficult expression while explaining this. After all, the person in front of him was a Saint and the President of the Union that protected their continent.
But then, their ancestor was also a Saint and a stubborn one at that who wouldn’t give face to even the Union President.
He was only a Sage mage and didn’t want to get into a clash involving two Saints!
"Sigh, I know but the matter is quite urgent and I can’t afford to wait. Let me through and I’ll remember this favour." President Shin said with a troubled expression.
The faces of the five men paled slightly and they glanced at each other.
"President Shin, can’t it really wait for morning? The ancestor..." one of them said and trailed off at the end of his words.
At this moment, Alex stepped forward. All eyes immediately turned to him.
"A Core rank mage?" One of the armoured figures asked in confusion.
"Who’s that?" The man in the middle asked President Shin.
"This is Mr Chen, he’s actually a Saint rank mage and is the reason we’re here." President Shin stated before looking at Alex.
Alex was currently standing beside Shin, the five armoured figures standing a few steps in front of them.
Between them was a near-invisible barrier, Alex lifted his left hand and gently touched it with a finger. Everyone looked at him, confused as to what he was doing.
But the next moment.
Boom!
A loud sound rang out as Alex increased the force behind his finger. But that was all, nothing happened to the barrier.
Everyone present "..."
Did Mr Chen just try to break through the barrier with force?!
Lishu, President Shin, and the five armoured figures were spooked.
"M-mr Chen, please stop!" The leader of the five armoured figures cried out in panic.
"Mr Chen, using force won’t work. Saint Red Sword isn’t only a Saint but a top-tier formation master as well, he had placed this formation here for hundreds of years and not even Saint rank spells can break through it. Trying to use force would only anger him." President Shin quickly explained, afraid that Mr Chen would use a more violent spell on the barrier.
Alex didn’t respond and kept observing the barrier.
’A barrier that can block the mage sense and attacks of a Saint rank mage, truly impressive.’ Alex thought to himself.
At this moment, several more figures appeared, all of them were in bronze armour with dragon engravings and possessed the strength of the Sage mage rank.
"What’s going on?" One of the newly arrived figures asked.
President Shin felt like he was having a headache after seeing this, why did Mr Chen have to attack the barrier?
"Alright, let’s go in."
At this moment, Alex turned and said to President Shin, Lishu, and the Windrend.
The armoured figures "..."
Go in, go in where?!
