Chapter 320: To Each Their Own

After their little tour, Roamer led Axel’s group straight back to the teleporter.

There, the newly furnished laptop worth 100 Quintillion Colts, and a stack of roughly 100 Roomba vacuum cleaners were already prepared and set for shipping. Packed, labeled, and waiting.

Axel was a bit astonished by the number of Roombas given to him for "free," though.

Looking at their stats panel, they were no ordinary vacuum either. They were so powerful, it was confusing why Roamer decided to give them away for free. If sold, each would probably fetch a couple billion, at least! And that was a conservative estimate.

It was no simple toy, but a machine that’s dedicated to cleanliness to the point of absurdity!

[With this, other than Miss Eve’s order that would take a week to complete, everything had been handed over, correct?] Roamer, seeing them off, asked quietly.

"Yes, I think so." Axel nodded. "It was worthwhile trading with you."

Then, he paused, thinking.

About the future. About Trismus and about SunderTECH’s relationship. About the "pile of dirt" he had on hand. And finally, the laptop he just got—now resting inside his inventory.

After a bit of thinking, he nodded to himself and spoke.

"Actually, I have something that could bring Trismus down. However, I’m not sure what to make of it." He said. "If possible, would you be willing to handle it for me, when the time comes?"

[So that’s the reason you want a laptop with an omnipotent data reader. Now it all makes sense.]

Roamer’s little body spun on the ground, the beeping sounds and flickering lights getting faster—as if excited.

[If it’s something critical to pulling Trismus down straight through mud, then I’m all in!]

"That’s good." Axel nodded. "Then, if I find anything, I’ll contact you right away."

Axel, Eve, and Ria stood in the middle of the Interdimensional Teleporter. This time, the coordinates of Axevaria Kingdom—registered as AxevariaMain0905—was entered.

Soon, the formation below them began releasing faint light. Soft at first, then growing steadier. An indicator that all the preparations were complete, and they were ready to teleport at any moment.

"Well then, we’ll take our leave for now."

Axel bowed his head ever so slightly, careful not to look subservient while keeping his dignity as a King. It was already a stretch for him to bow his head at all, given his standing. But the gesture felt right.

Roamer didn’t mind.

Although with their extensive information network, there was no way they didn’t know how a king should behave. Things like etiquette were something they knew inside out.

But despite that, he didn’t say anything to Axel and just watched as the three of them got wrapped in a bright flash of light and disappeared.

After the three disappeared, only then did Roamer speak through his speakers. In an uncharacteristic, emotional voice. One that none of the three were around to hear.

[It’s my pleasure... Comrade.]

The light in his body blinked, and beeping sounds echoed. But now, in its plain, mechanical indicators, there was a hint of fresh interest and loneliness embedded within.

Along with the hope that in the future...

...

Axel slowly opened his eyes.

As soon as he did, a familiar sight welcomed him once more.

"Welcome back, King Axel. Queen Eve. Queen Teruria." One of the members of the Valkyrie Knight Order—tasked to guard the teleporter at all times—greeted them. "While you were out, nothing out of the ordinary had occurred." She reported.

"That’s great then." Axel nodded. "Good work." And praised the soldier.

Hearing the unexpected praise, the soldier’s eyes glowed with emotions. She looked like she was about to cry, but quickly straightened up, giving a crisp salute.

"No, I was simply doing my job, sir!" She replied.

But her voice now definitely contained pride in her line of work.

After that, the three of them split up.

Eve headed for the dwarves, planning to ask them to make another rifle of the same specs. After all, she currently had no weapons available. Her rifle was left in Roamer’s care to be used as a reference for making her "dream" rifle. Until then, she was effectively unarmed—something she clearly wasn’t comfortable sitting with for long.

Ria was headed for the courtyard.

She planned to employ all 100 Roombas and station them all across the kingdom. In her head, it was probably already a done deal—every hallway, every corner, every room getting its own little mechanical custodian.

Of course, she kept one for the castle, and one for herself.

She just sat down with the Roombas all still in boxes and began reading the user’s manual. After all, she had no idea how to unpack them, much less set them up for the automated cleaning! The manual, as it turned out, was also not written with humans in mind.

As for Axel, his destination was decided right from the start.

He rushed straight to his room, closed all windows and doors, and sat before the table inside his room. On top, he laid the newly manufactured laptop.

The design was sleek.

It was thin. About 20 mm on the cross section of the lower part, and about 5 mm for the screen part. It had an 18-inch OLED touch panel screen, along with a built-in standard qwerty mechanical keyboard. Each tap felt satisfying both haptically and audibly.

But that wasn’t the main focus.

As soon as Axel pressed the power button, it was as if a beast woke up with a powerful roar. The fan inside the laptop spun hard for just a moment before easing back down into a quiet, steady hum. Like something enormous catching its breath.

Axel watched the screen for a few moments, worried about some errors that might need fixing.

However, to his surprise, the computer started up without any trouble. He could even log in without any troublesome procedures like making an account whatsoever.

The smooth OS, the feel of the UI, and finally, the absurdity of its features. He couldn’t believe what a beast his machine was. Everything loaded instantly. No lag, no stutter. Just raw, unreasonable performance.

"Now, for the moment of truth..."

At that moment, he took out a familiar pendant once more. He set it gently on the desk beside the laptop, the two objects sitting side by side under the room’s quiet light.

What his intentions were... It was obvious.
