Chapter 247: Chapter 247 - Theo’s Supplies
Nearly an hour passed by as they continued moving through the desert.
The initial excitement over the summons gradually faded as reality set in.
Even with the scorching sun above, none of them wished to use their mana to cool down, wary of having to fight later on.
Fortunately, Feng had helped them perfectly thus far.
’’Ten D-ranks up ahead,’’ it called out.
’’Who wants to take care of these?’’ Theo asked, glancing around.
Iris raised her hand lightly.
Theo nodded once with a smile, gesturing for her to go.
Several blood spears appeared around her as she immediately moved up to Feng.
’Everything’s working well like this,’ Theo thought, spectating the fight.
They’d dodge large groups or stronger creatures.
But those numbering below twenty were usually taken care of by one of them.
Unless they were C-ranks. In that case, they’d only be fought if their numbers were below five.
It didn’t take long before Iris rejoined them once more.
Ten sand scorpions lay dead behind her, blood spears sticking out of their bodies.
’’This heat is starting to become a bother,’’ she said quietly, her face red.
Jim tugged at the collar of his shirt behind them.
’’It’s nuts,’’ he said, breathing heavily. ’’I’d have taken off my shirt, but that’d make me roast even more.’’
Both Lyra and Owen nodded.
Even so, there was absolutely nothing Theo could do about it.
’Jim and Feng could cool off the group with wind and ice,’ he thought grimly. ’But it’d cost tons of mana.’
And a large group of C-ranks or even a B-rank creature could show up at any time...
A few more minutes passed in silence.
The only sounds were their own footsteps sinking into the sand, heavy breathing, and the occasional gust of warm wind.
Eventually, Owen suddenly came to a stop.
’’Hold on,’’ he said, raising a hand.
Theo snapped out of his thoughts and looked behind.
Owen scratched the back of his head awkwardly.
’’Can you use your water element so we can drink something?’’ he asked, pointing at his throat. ’’I could really use that right now.’’
The group came to a halt, each staring at Theo.
After the plane had blown up all their supplies, doubts had crept into their minds.
But Theo had told them he’d take care of the supplies beforehand, which they’d put their trust in completely.
’’I won’t be doing that,’’ Theo said, smiling faintly.
Owen’s eyes widened slightly.
’’Eh? How the hell are we supposed to get drinking water then?’’ he asked, frowning.
Theo’s smile only grew larger.
He reached behind his back before tossing something toward Owen.
Owen instinctively caught the flying object before staring down at it blankly.
’’Water bottle?’’ he muttered, brows furrowing. ’’But how?’’
Before anyone could say another word, Theo pulled out several more and tossed one to each of them.
Lyra and Iris each caught one, feeling it still completely cold, as if it had come straight out of a supermarket.
Jim caught his and immediately pressed it against his forehead.
’’Oh... that’s amazing...’’ he muttered, closing his eyes.
Theo simply unscrewed his own bottle and took a sip.
’’Drink up,’’ he said. ’’There’s plenty more where that came from.’’
Hearing his words, the three of them didn’t hesitate for even a moment.
They immediately began drinking as if their lives depended on it.
Only Owen remained standing there, still staring at his.
’’Theo...’’ he muttered, confused. ’’Where did these come from?’’
Theo only smiled as he raised his shoulders.
’’I bought them before I left,’’ he answered plainly.
’’No, I get that,’’ Owen said, waving his hands in front of him. ’’But where have you been hiding them?’’
Theo’s expression didn’t change one bit.
’’That’s a secret.’’
Owen stared at him a moment longer.
Then he simply shrugged and tilted the water bottle back completely.
Within moments, he’d drained the entire bottle.
’’Do me another then,’’ he said, tossing the empty bottle back. ’’Also, make it a Coke this time.’’
Theo caught the empty bottle and raised an eyebrow.
Letting out a quiet sigh, he reached behind his back and summoned a cold Coke using the ability his system had given him.
As he tossed it back to Owen, a large smile appeared on his best friend’s face.
’’Knew it,’’ he said, catching the bottle. ’’You brought any beers too?’’
Theo shook his head lightly.
’’Not right now,’’ he said, lying through his teeth. ’’But I do have something else I just realized.’’
He reached behind his back once more.
A moment later, several folded pieces of white cloth appeared in his hands.
Without another word, he tossed one to everyone.
’’What’s this?’’ Jim asked, catching it.
Theo unfolded his own with a flick of his wrist.
It was a light-colored desert head covering, complete with a long piece of cloth that hung over the back of the neck and shoulders.
He wrapped it around his head before adjusting it slightly.
’’Put them on,’’ he said. ’’You’ll understand in a few minutes.’’
Lyra, Owen, and Jim stared at him with puzzled expressions.
Only Iris seemed to have seen them before and immediately put hers on.
’’Where’d you even get these?’’ she mumbled, tilting her head.
Once again, Theo simply smiled.
’I know secrets aren’t usually a good idea,’ he thought. ’But I can’t really explain this just yet.’
The others quickly followed Iris’s example, fumbling around for a bit before putting on the cloths.
Just like that, they resumed walking once more.
At first, no one noticed much of a difference.
Then, after only a few minutes, Jim blinked in surprise.
’’Wait,’’ he muttered, touching the cloth covering the back of his neck.
The others gradually felt it as well.
The heat was still there, but the burning sensation from the sun had almost completely disappeared.
’’It actually works,’’ Lyra said, sounding pleasantly surprised.
Owen adjusted the cloth around his head before letting out a satisfied grin.
’’You know... I never doubted you for even a moment.’’
Theo only chuckled at them.
’’Good,’’ he said. ’’Because we’re going to be walking for a while yet.’’
Hours rapidly passed by as they continued walking.
Before long, they came to a halt as the sun had finally set.
