Chapter 183: Chapter 183 - Divine Lightning Storm
Theo glanced past the bone golem for a moment.
Far in the distance, Lucienne stood with a hand planted in the ground.
Their eyes met for a moment.
But even from here, Theo could tell she was smiling behind her veil.
Glancing back at the golem, he found it slowly rising to its full height.
RUMBLE!
Its massive frame cast a shadow over him.
’Now!’
He flicked his finger.
WHOOSH! WHOOSH! WHOOSH!
Eight lightning bolts shot through the air simultaneously, heading straight for the golem’s head.
The golem slowly raised its bone hands, shielding itself.
Pop! Pop! Pop!
Bolt after bolt struck the golem’s hands and arms.
Each hit left behind large dents and massive blackened scorch marks.
Lucienne’s eyes widened slightly.
She was very well aware of her golem’s strength and durability. To see it receive such dents from some simple spells made her grip tighten around her scythe.
For a moment, her gaze fell on Theo.
’I’ll have to tread more carefully,’ she thought, raising her hand.
But just before she ordered her golem to attack, she caught a strange glimpse in his eyes.
’What?’
A shiver ran down her spine as a very bad feeling settled in her stomach.
She quickly glanced around, searching everywhere.
RUMBLE!
Lucienne froze for a split second.
A massive dark cloud had started forming above the battlefield.
Golden lights flickered inside as loud rumbles and crackles echoed through the arena.
’That storm...’ she thought, recognizing the spell.
Without a second of hesitation, she slammed her hands into the ground.
Crack! Crack!
Bones shot up all around her.
They encased her entire body into a sphere before pushing it deeper into the ground.
Just seconds before that, the golem had closed the distance with Theo.
BOOM!
Its fists slammed into the floor, crushing the faint crackles left behind while leaving massive craters behind.
ROAR!!!
Theo reappeared beside it and was immediately met by the golem’s backhand.
He gritted his teeth, water swirling around the umbrella at rapid speeds.
CRACK!
Its fist collided with his umbrella.
The large, concentrated wave washed against its fist, sending spiderweb-like cracks through it.
Feeling no pain, the golem pressed on.
"Fuck," Theo gritted his teeth.
The golem pushed him back with just its sheer physical strength.
Waves of water kept swirling around his umbrella, quickly enlarging the cracks on the golem’s fist.
CRACK!
Its bone finally crumbled apart inside the water.
Using that opportunity, Theo quickly jumped back.
’Now!’ he thought, glancing to his right.
Far in the distance, Lucienne’s bone cage had almost disappeared underground.
Theo frowned only for a second.
The golden light inside the clouds quickly began gathering up.
But it wasn’t in one concentrated spot anymore. Several large spheres of pure lightning sat in the sky.
RUMBLE!!!
The cloud let out one final rumble.
Then the entire arena lit up in a bright golden light.
Gigantic lightning beams began swirling and intertwining around each other, heading for the ground at insane speeds.
BOOOOM!!!
The beams tore into the ground.
An explosion of blinding light engulfed the battlefield, swallowing everything in its path.
Stone exploded into the air as golden lightning erupted in every direction.
Each beam danced wildly across the arena, twisting and leaping from one location to another like living serpents.
Every impact left behind deep, charred craters and rivers of molten stone.
However, all Theo could see were bone-like tunnels that led deep into the ground.
"Tsk," he let out, quickly glancing at the bone golem.
In an instant, the dancing lightning beams curved up, soaring straight toward it.
ROAR!
The golem lowered its body as it desperately held its arms in front of it in an attempt to shield itself.
But it was useless.
A beam struck its shoulder, disintegrating a massive chunk.
Another tore straight through its arms.
Then several more struck it in rapid succession.
CRAAACK!!!
Its body shuddered as chunk after chunk of its body disintegrated.
The blue flames flickered violently inside its skull.
Then the flames vanished.
THUD!
Its body collapsed onto the ground, sending massive clouds of dust into the air.
High above, countless spectators couldn’t help but rise from their seats.
"What kind of spell was that?"
"He had a Silver Core spell for his lightning element?"
Even several instructors leaned forward.
Though their expressions were far more complicated, clearly picking up on things students weren’t.
"That spell..." a man muttered.
Slowly, he glanced up at a woman in her thirties who had a cold expression on her face.
"He was your student, right?"
Elise nodded once.
"My personal student."
The other instructors couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow.
Yet none dared to utter a single word.
"He’s quite impressive," another voice rang out far behind them. "I’ve never seen that lightning spell either... which is quite strange."
A woman with pure blonde hair walked through the doors with a smirk on her face.
"Especially since it seems to be at least a Diamond-grade spell."
Elise turned to the woman, her expression immediately growing colder.
The blonde woman simply ignored her stare and threw herself into a seat at the front, still smirking.
"But if that’s all he amounts to... he’ll never beat my student."
Elise narrowed her eyes.
"Just watch."
In the arena, Theo walked past the golem.
The only sound left was the crackling of fading lightning and the cracking from the crumbling body.
As he reached the place Lucienne had vanished, his eyes narrowed.
’What kind of escape spell is this?’
A deep tunnel made from bone led deep into the earth, far outside where his lightning could reach.
Crack!
A faint noise echoed out behind him.
His instincts flared immediately.
Without hesitation, Theo flipped the umbrella behind his back and popped it open.
CLANG!
A bone needle, barely visible to the naked eye, bounced off.
’That spell lets her travel quite a distance,’ he thought, standing up again.
On the opposite side of the arena, a bone cage had grown out of the ground and opened like a lotus flower.
Theo let out a deep breath.
’I’ll have to do something so she can’t go underground.’
