Chapter 37: Ch77. The day before the return ceremony

Kurt spent the rest of his ’vacation’ looking over his shoulder.

However, there was nothing different around him when he left for his morning run or when he came back home.

He gained several additional stat points after the two weeks ended, because he went out already with his senses sharpened as best as he could, for wanting to try and listen to every conversation or sudden movements around him.

His strength had been lacking growth, because the more he worked out, the stronger he got, the easier the work out sessions would become, and he couldn’t just let Octavius know how stronger he had become, even though his dad was still way stronger than him.

Although it had been two weeks since the last time Kurt had seen him, and even knowing how long Octavius usually took out of home when raiding or dealing with the guild issues...

This time it seemed like something had happened, but someone would’ve come to tell him if anything happened, right?

When he went home, after having a coffee nearby, he went on with his routine, when suddenly a thought hit him.

"Oh, damn... It’s tomorrow, right?"

He was getting a bit sick of talking only to himself, not having any friends or anyone to whom he could talk about anything, but since everything in his world looked different from the other world Kurt saw in the [MEMORY FRAGMENT], he didn’t know how or when things would start to work out for him in that aspect.

His school friends were all gone now that he got transferred to Boston Wielders Academy, so he would have to start everything anew.

’And since I’m stronger than before, at least I think I’m not gonna have any trouble with bullies.’ He smiled, opening his system window to check how much he had improved in the last two weeks.

He looked in the mirror, shirtless, and observed the results of his daily discipline, along with the benefits of the system.

Kurt’s muscles were way more prominent than before.

In the first week after he woke up from the coma, he looked like a scrawny kid who could easily get bullied by anyone who wanted to pick on him.

Now, he even looked taller, almost 5’9, and his arms looked like ready to burst through a door.

"I guess I won’t have any problem with varsity teams, too." He laughed at the idea, imagining how he would fit in a sports uniform now.

But he dismissed the thought, and opened the [QUESTS WINDOW] straight ahead.

[QUESTS]

[An eye for an eye]

[Slight of hand]

"Open [SLIGHT OF HAND]." He ordered, and the sub-window opened.

[Slight of hand]

[DESCRIPTION: Unique quest]

[Difficulty: D+]

[Pick 100 pockets.]

[Pockets picked: 098/100]

"Woah... I almost lost count on it, but there are only two pockets remaining to be picked?"

The smile on Kurt’s lips was so bright that no one would ever believe that he was talking about picking pockets.

He readied the clothes he was going to use the next day, during the return ceremony, and went to his computer, opened a few files, and there it was.

Kurt called the folder <BLACK LIST>, and had put there every bit of information he could find around the web on the two individuals he intended to get revenge on.

It took him some time to find out the information, since he wasn’t around Rhegal or his sons anymore, but he was able to figure it out after some research over the news media.

He opened a folder inside it called <ZAVAL>, and had all the information on him that Kurt was able to bump into.

It wasn’t much, but at least it had the main characteristics that differed him from his brother, Yisal, even when they had their human holographic guise on.

When Kurt compared the pictures of the brothers, he noticed that Yisal had a slight scar above his right eye, while Zaval had a clean face that made him look like he didn’t have seen a battle in forever.

But Kurt knew it wasn’t true.

He also knew that he probably was the very first to be able to hurt the Ishir like that, even though only with the help of the system.

The color of their eyes, the way they smirked, even the way they moved, everything was only slightly different between one and the other.

But it was enough for Kurt.

"One day I won’t need to study these files to kill you."

He closed the files and opened the only other folder inside the <BLACK LIST>.

This one was way trickier.

The name was <ADRIAN COLLINS>, and besides his name and date of birth, there wasn’t much more data with which that Kurt could work.

The CIA agents were tougher to track than anything else, Kurt found that out in the hardest way.

"If it weren’t for this, you would be nothing but a ghost in my life... Son of a bitch!" Kurt held the U-Wallet between his fingers. "If only I knew someone who could hack into it, things would be way easier."

He thought of the other Kurt’s memories, the young woman called Nadia.

Could it be that she existed in this version of the world, too?

Kurt stored the thought in the back of his head when he looked at the window and saw that the sun had already set.

He inhaled and exhaled deeply and went to bed.

"At least from tomorrow on, I’ll have more things to do. Just working out and running every day is becoming boring..." 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦

Sleep slithered underneath Kurt’s eyes with the thought yet in his mind, and when he dreamed, he was standing right in the middle of the Pentagon.

The sky turned dark red, and there was fire everywhere.

Destruction, screams, Beasts overflowing from bubble bursts, and around Kurt, people that only the other Kurt knew well.

Evellyn’s eyes glowed in a golden light while her hands shone and strange warp gates opened around her to evacuate the wounded, while Rodrick took the beasts down with his fists, protected by powerful-looking gauntlets.

And even Nikolai was there, shooting magic blasts from what seemed like customized firearms.

Some other people were around Kurt, asking him about what they should do, when suddenly, his own mouth moved, but it weren’t orders that slipped out of his throat.

"Don’t get near them if you don’t want the same thing to happen here."

And when he turned around, Octavius was there, his eyes glowing in the same dark red as the sky’s.

He looked at Kurt with a grin that covered almost his entire face.

"Guess who came for dinner..." He said, charging with an open maw towards Kurt, who was frozen where he stood, completely unable to move.
