Chapter 120: Ch158. Sickness - 13 (An oracle will always be an oracle)
Days passed and turned into weeks.
Evellyn and Nikolai, accompanied by Rodrick and Toshinori, hardly left Kurt’s side, only when Doctor Lee said it was essential that she had some space to be able to carry out analyzes and take samples from Kurt.
Aside from that, it was difficult for there to be any time when they distanced themselves from the young man.
Some other irregulars also paid Kurt visits, bringing flowers, and some even spent time with him, telling him about how the world around them was changing.
It seemed scary to many of them, but it was true.
The Global Union of Guilds had officially created a task force made up of the best wielders in the world, to hunt for foci of what could become cult centers of the New Dawn guild, in every country in the world.
For some reason, the purist guild seemed to be accumulating overwhelming influence and power, and no matter how hard the world governments tried, it simply seemed impossible to stop the monster that was the fanatical members of that guild.
Some were even starting to call it a religious sect.
But what surprised the irregulars most was that on the internet, many were asking themselves ’Where is the masked hero who clashed with the North American Association of wielders?’
It seemed to be the trend of the moment.
#WhereIsTheHero
And many went even further than simply leaving a tag on social media posts.
<MidDeku: Shouldn’t we give him a hero name? I mean... I don’t know if he’ll show up again or not, but... Heroes don’t disappear out of thin air, right?>
<GodOfExplosions: SHUT UP, PRESSABLE NERD! HE’S GOING TO COME BACK WHEN WE LEAST EXPECT IT, AND HE’S GOING TO TAKE ADVANTAGE AND KICK YOUR USELESS ASS TOO!>
<MidDeku: But...>
<GodOfExplosions: SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!>
<MidDeku: ...>
<GodOfExplosions: That’s how I like it, you piece of shit!>
<MidDeku: I just think, I don’t know... Silence could be a cool name. I mean, we didn’t see him say a single word during the Association battle, right?>
The exchange of heated comments on a very recent post on one of the networks seemed to make everything revolve around that topic.
Silence...
"Silence really seems like a name that suits you, Kurt..." Cinthia said, on one of her visits to the infirmary room. "When you wake up, what do you think about telling us what you think of that name?"
Evellyn entered the room, smiling.
"I knew you would end up liking him, Cinthia." She said, going to a flower vase that one of the irregulars had left there, to change the water.
"Shut up..." Cinthia replied, feeling her face slightly hot. "He has to wake up so I can lecture him and spank him, that’s it..."
"He needs to wake up..." Doctor Lee said, entering the room and observing the two girls. "Because whether you believe it or not, he is our greatest hope against the Ishir..."
"And how do you know that, doctor?" Cinthia asked, raising one of her eyebrows.
Doctor Lee just shrugged, pointing at Evellyn with her chin.
"She believes that, doesn’t she, little girl?"
Evellyn nodded positively, without even blinking.
"An oracle is an oracle, wherever it is..." The doctor said.
"How do you know what my awakened treat is?" Evellyn asked, fearfully.
At that moment, Evelyn had remembered a conversation she had had with Rodrick and Nikolai, with which the two boys agreed in every aspect.

The first time Evellyn had heard about the doctor, she hadn’t felt anything like it, other than the fact that the doctor seemed greedy.
It was a peculiarity of Evellyn’s awakened treat.
When she heard someone’s name, she could perceive something of that person’s nature and character.
But since the first time Evellyn had actually met Doctor Lee, an ominous feeling had come over her.
"She’s not human." She said to her friends.
"You mean she... Is an Ishir in disguise?"
Evellyn frowned thoughtfully.
"No... It’s something that goes far beyond that..."
The girl’s rhetoric was met with a heavy, almost funereal silence...

"I don’t think that’s the right question to ask, but I don’t think that’s a topic for this moment, don’t you think, girls?"
Evellyn shrugged her shoulders, without breaking the eye contact she maintained with the doctor.
"I don’t think so." Evelyn replied.
Immediately, however, she was overcome by a very strong headache, falling into the chair where Cinthia was sitting seconds ago.
His eyes sparkled, and then began to emanate that golden luminosity, typical of his awakened treat.
"Evellyn? Are you okay?" Cinthia quickly approached, touching her friend’s shoulder gently.
"I... I’m..."
"Okay, what-"
But before Cinthia could finish the question, Evellyn interrupted.
And Cinthia realized that her friend wasn’t answering the question she had asked.
"I’m... Seeing Kurt!"
Cinthia and Doctor Lee’s jaws dropped.
"Elaborate..." Doctor Lee asked, with a slight smile appearing on her lips.
Evellyn tightened the arms of the chair, trying to regain control of her motor skills, even if for a few moments.
A few moments passed, in which the girl finally regained some color.
Her breathing stabilized, ever so slightly, and she became able to speak again.
"He... He’s here by our side, but... At the same time... He’s somewhere else... And he... He’s a child... Fighting. No... Running away from. .. Of something, very... Very powerful..."
Cinthia and Doctor Lee exchanged looks.
"Are you sure you’re not having a vision of the past?" The doctor asked.
After a few moments of pause, Evellyn replied in a much more elaborated way.
"Yes, I have. Kurt has never been to the Calamity Crater. And there have never been any reports of creatures... Appearing shortly after the moment of impact..."
The doctor’s eyes widened, and a nervous, maniacal laugh almost escaped from between her lips.
She tried hard to hide the eagerness she felt from her expression.
She breathed in, deeply, and after a long moment of silence, she asked.
"What else can you see?"
