Chapter 91: Ch130. Octavius - 3 (Friends)

Everyone looked stunned when Kurt reappeared in the abandoned underground parking lot.

Even more because Cinthia had her holowatch showing the recording of a live stream that had just ended.

"You guys had fun watching me?" Kurt asked as all eyes turned to him. "Now, is there a healer or anyone who can check their condition?"

Cinthia and the others took a few seconds to register that Kurt was back, and that he actually managed to rescue Evellyn and Nikolai.

A guy in his late teens raised his hand and approached, already taking Evellyn and Nikolai’s pulse.

Kurt looked at them, getting ready to say something, but they just waved at him.

Kurt looked down, gloomy, and distanced himself from them.

’Is Groth safe in my shadow, system?’

[YES]

’What happened to him?’

[GROTH IS IN A LETHARGIC STATE, DUE TO THE LACK OF CONTACT WITH THE PLAYER]

[THE BOND YOU SHARE WITH YOUR FAMILIAR ONLY HASN’T BEEN COMPLETELY SEVERED DUE TO – LIMITLESS CIRCLE]

[BUT IF YOU DON’T FIND A WAY TO SHARE YOUR ENERGY WITH HIM SOON...]

Kurt already knew the rest of what the system was saying, even before it finished speaking.

So Kurt just stopped thinking of it, and approached Cinthia.

She was reading something in her holowatch screen.

When Kurt got close enough, he could see that she was reading the comment section of the live stream that everyone watched until he got back.

And that comment section literally almost broke the internet.

<Sixpips: Why do I feel like I already saw the guy somewhere?>

<DestructionOfHoly: What? You mean someone already tried to take the president down?>

<Noobmaster69420: Wouldn’t we already heard of anything like that? I mean... Everyone who tried is already six feet under, right?>

<Sixpips: Yeah, I’m probably just imagining things... But damn! He held his own very well against The Unrivaled Paladin’s ethereal blades.>

<MaSteR_oF_PitTs75: Is he a tamer? I mean, the dragon and all...>

<♡Mist of midnight♡: I wish I could see under his mask.>

<Justin_case: You and president Blake, girl! The man’s gotta be FOAMING out his mouth, now that someone actually got out alive from a fight against him! kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk>

<MakeObamaGreatAgain: The masked dude, though... Why was he there? And I think no one’s asking the real questions here... Who’s side is he on? Because if he’s as powerful as to get away with whatever he’s done in the Association, we don’t want him as an enemy, right?>

<NickelbackHater689: Who the fuck is Obama?>

"What are you, actually?" She asked him, when she noticed him reading the comments.

"Sometimes even I myself don’t know." Kurt sighed. "But right now... I’m someone who needs to find an expert in familiars." Cinthia raised her brow. "Do you happen to know any?"

She sighed.

"Unfortunately, not. But what’s the problem? Your dragon seems to be doing pretty great."

"It’s not my-"

Kurt immediately felt some hostility emanating from behind him.

It was very subtle, but still, strong enough for him to notice that it was there.

He didn’t want to spend any energy there, so he just moved quickly, leaving a single afterimage of him where he was the second before.

And his jaw dropped low as he saw Nikolai trying to stab him with a knife.

Cinthia looked at Nikolai, and for the briefest of moments, she didn’t move.

But when Evellyn joined the fray, holding Kurt in a headlock that he only allowed because she was just as strong as a regular human, she finally clenched her fists, getting up and glaring at Kurt.

"I’m pretty sure you remember what I told you before, right?"

Kurt just sighed.

"And I’m pretty sure you remember what I said before I got to the Association to save our friends. Right?"

Cinthia frowned, confused.

But Kurt just smirked.

"No. Body. Move."

And everyone froze on their spot.

Even Cinthia, this time.

However, to Kurt’s surprise, Evellyn was still hanging tightly on him, as if his [SHADOW GRASP] hadn’t affected her.

’Fuck... I didn’t know that [SHADOW GRASP] had a setback like this...’

Evellyn screamed and tried even harder to squeeze Kurt’s neck, and Kurt didn’t want to hurt her, so he just let her do that.

But for some reason, her grapple was getting tighter, stronger.

And Nikolai was finally getting back to his senses, watching Kurt’s afterimage vanish, and turning around to see the real one.

He had the knife in his hands, and approached very slowly, step by step.

And Kurt found himself almost unable to move, due to Evellyn’s unnatural and impossible strength.

"How does it feel, Silence?" Nikolai and Evellyn spoke in unison. "To be going to die by the hands of your beloved irregulars?"

But their voices weren’t theirs.

It was Octavius Blake sounding through their throats.

Kurt never felt so nauseated to hear someone’s voice, than he felt by listening to his father’s voice coming from his friends’ throats.

It was like a never-ending nightmare.

First it was that damned dragon-like alien, the commander of the Ishir.

Now, his father.

Kurt felt like it wasn’t going to get any better, but something was surely off in the way everything had been happening.

’What? Everyone has that mind controlling ability, now?’ Kurt huffed, watching Nikolai get closer and closer.

"Not now, friend. I’m sorry."

Kurt didn’t see the look of absolute shock in Nikolai’s eyes, as both him and Evellyn heard his voice.

The only thing that he registered at the moment, was the memory of the feeling he had when he was taken to that world.

The Shadow World.

So, shadows and darkness began enveloping him, along with Evellyn, until they were nowhere to be seen.

***

Kurt and Evellyn appeared back in that same abandoned underground parking lot.

Only that it was all in shades of gray.

"I hope it works, sorry Eve." Kurt let go of her with his strength, and she groaned as she tried to keep her grasp.

As her body crashed on the grayish floor, Kurt reached his hand inside a black, window-sized rift that appeared by his side, and produced a small stone from it.

It was a golden crystal, half the size of Kurt’s fist.

He smashed it in his hand, and his fist became enveloped in that golden light.

"I truly hope it works the way I’m thinking." Kurt hushed to himself, charging towards Evellyn. "Or else, I’m gonna be thoroughly screwed."

He reached her in less than the blink of an eye, and touched her chest.

The next moment, the only color that could be seen in Kurt’s personal world, came from the explosion of golden light that emerged from Evellyn’s body.
