Chapter 88: Ch127. Prisoners - 2

Kurt’s words echoed through the abandoned underground parking lot as soon as he undid his [STALKER], taking everyone by surprise. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦

Cinthia and Robby screamed, and one of the irregulars shouted.

"BREACHER! Positions!"

But Kurt already felt what was going to happen.

"Not this time." He said, mostly to himself, while sensing everyone’s shadow inside the place. "I’m not gonna hurt you all, but you need to be more quiet. I’m not very patient, today."

the people tried moving, but it was as if they all got paralyzed by some kind of spell.

Some tried to speak, but Kurt took a finger to his lips.

"Shhh... Now... What did you mean by Evellyn and Nikolai being taken by the New Dawn?"

He looked at Cinthia, who was the only person able to move in the whole place.

But she just smirked.

"So... The coward wasn’t dead, after all. You were right, Robby. Now, why did you trapped them?"

"I’ll release them, if the one in charge here, whom I suppose is you, tell them to back down." Kurt said, his voice cold as ice. "Like I said, I’m not very patient, today, so I don’t want to fight any unnecessary fights..."

Cinthia looked at him dead in the eye, and after a moment of consideration, she ordered.

"Guys, no one make a single move against him." And as if it weren’t enough. "This is an order."

"Good." Kurt replied, letting them move again.

No one dared to approach him, and even Robby took hs distance. Even though Kurt could see the lightniing in his eyes.

"What was that? And why was I the only one able to move?"

Kurt looked at Cinthia and shook his head.

"First you’ll tell me why did the New dawn get Evellyn and Nikolai. And why haven’t you been able to get them back, yet."

Cinthia stomped her foot on the concrete floor of the parking lot, cracking it a bit.

She glared at Kurt like he was some kind of villain.

She stepped forward, getting closer and closer to him.

Then, she raised her hand, and let it come down in a full-on slap.

But Kurt just used his command over the shadows to restrain her.

She forced and forced to try and free herself from his grip, but the more she forced, the more unable she felt to move.

Until she screamed at the top of her lungs.

Anger and sadness mixed up in her voice as she yelled.

"WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU ARE TO EVEN ASK THAT?! WHERE WERE YOU WHEN THEY WERE TAKEN? WHERE WERE YOU WHEN THEY LOST THEIR POWERS? WHERE WERE YOU WHEN EVERYTHING WENT TO UTTER SHIT?! YOU..." She began sobbing, almost uncontrollably, as she kept speaking. "I knew them since Kindergarten... I played with them and we had fun together more times than I can count! WE COULD’VE GONE TO HIGHSCHOOL, IF IT WEREN’T FOR THAT GOD DAMN AWAKENING SHIT! And then... AND THEN YOU APPEAR ALL OF A SUDDEN, OUT OF NOWHERE, ACTING LIKE YOU OWN THEM! AND THEY FOLLOW YOU LIKE PUPPIES, AND I GET THROWN AWAY, LIKE A BROKEN TOY! Now... Don’t you dare ask where they are, because you weren’t there to help save them when they were caught... You... You..."

Kurt just listened to everything Cinthia had to say, and he didn’t retort a single word.

But there were things that the girl didn’t know, and Kurt wasn’t going to be the one telling her.

Instead, he just asked back.

"Where were you, then? Why didn’t you save them? Why aren’t they in your amidst right now?"

Kurt released his grip over her shadow as she fell to her knees, looking beyond him, desperate, speechless.

He waited for several seconds until he finally spoke again, while Cinthia just hugged her knees, crying, and Robby tried to comfort her.

"I spent three years trapped inside a Nest after my fight with Rhegal Vir’Dun, the Ishir commander. Or as you knew him, the academy’s headmaster, Acacia Sterling. He actually killed himself, and for some reason, a bubble emerged from him, sucking me into it, and the next thing I remember, is the bubble closing behind me."

"Enough of your lies, murderer!" Robby said, rubbing Cinthia’s back. "Can’t you see what you did? Everyone knows that it’s your fault that Simon died!"

"No..." Cinthia said, looking up while wiping the tears off of her eyes.

"What?" Robby asked, looking from her to Kurt, and back at her.

"It wasn’t him who caused the death of your brother..."

"Wha-what do you mean?" Kurt and Robby asked in unison.

Robby glared at Kurt’s surprise, but Kurt’s heart suddenly felt a wave of relief.

And he felt slightly guilty about it.

"It was the New Dawn and the Ishir." Cinthia said. "A werewolf creature saved us, and when I fully woke up, it was protecting us against an all out attack from whom we now know were members of the New Dawn, along with some Ishir... I didn’t know why, but almost half of our group got killed that day, Nikolai and Evellyn were taken, and..."

"And what...?" Kurt asked, putting everything he had in not showing any emotions.

"The werewolf creature was knocked down, and Simon died trying to protect him..."

It was too much information for Kurt to take in, so he carefully chose to not say anything.

Instead, he just looked at Robby, who looked back at him, speechless.

"I... Hum..." He began saying.

"It’s okay." Kurt retorted. "You don’t need to say anything right now. I didn’t know about Simon until you told me, and I felt guilty about it being my fault, so I know how you feel... I lost people dear to me, too. In my past, and in my present. So you don’t have to say anything for now, just take your time, and I hope you forgive the idea of me killing your brother, no matter when."

Cinthia looked at Kurt with wide eyes.

’How come an arrogant son of a bitch like him can be so honestly and genuinely humble...?’

But she couldn’t utter a word.

She felt her pride hurt.

"Well... I see that you guys don’t welcome me here, so, if you’re not willing to tell me where the guild is keeping Eve and Nikolai, I’m going to leave and try to find them myself."

"By... By yourself?" Cinthia asked.

"No... Not by myself. But I’d like to have more help. However, since it’s not the case, I’ll be leaving, then."

Shadows began surrounding Kurt’s body, when Cinthia suddenly shouted.

"WAIT!"

The shadows around Kurt vanished, and he raised a brow.

"What?"

"I don’t believe you..." She said. "But I believe in Nikita. I know he has or had a lie detection ability, so he always knew when people around him were lying or not... And he always believed your every word. So I’m gonna believe that."

Kurt’s lips curled upwards, ever so slightly.

"Thank you, so... Where they’re being kept?"

Cinthia shifted her weight from one leg to the other.

"That’s the problem... That’s why we haven’t been able to rescue them, and every attempt leaves us shorter in numbers..."

Kurt raised his brow, and Cinthia finished.

"They’re being kept in the Wielders Association.
