Chapter 100: Chapter 86: The True King’s Ninth Refinement! Earth Bodhisattva Nirvana! _2
"The top three laws, the True King."
"Agreed~!" Chen Chang’an nodded.
He was somewhat surprised by Mao Ruxue’s choice.
However, despite his surprise, Chen Chang’an nodded in agreement.
"Thank you, my lord."
Upon seeing this, Mao Ruxue immediately bowed.
"Very well, then it’s decided that we’ll use the ’True King’ from the top three laws."
"Everyone stand back for now, allow this seat to activate the altar!"
Upon hearing this, Chen Chang’an didn’t say anything further and spoke to the people below.
Later, after everyone moved far away from the altar, he rose from his throne and descended.
Then, he let out a low roar.
"The world’s great changes are at my disposal, the Great Dao is complete, with my true name, I unite the creation of Heaven and Earth!"
"Open!"
As soon as he finished the phrase, Chen Chang’an formed a seal with both hands.
In the next moment, a terrifying Great Law power was released into the Heaven and Earth, directly falling upon the ancient altar.
Hum, hum, hum~!
As he struck it with that Great Law power, the orderly altar standing quietly between Heaven and Earth suddenly resounded with a roar.
Roar~~!
Immediately after, as if a great terror had descended, terrible phantoms suddenly emerged above it.
One after another, they were all towering gods and demons.
Their figures were majestic, an absolute terror!
One by one, they appeared in the sky above the altar, howling at the sky, their terrifying power sweeping across all nine heavens.
Under their imposing presence, all beings within a million miles centered around the Ghostly Sea, were all prostrating on the ground, trembling.
Meanwhile, some more powerful practitioners involuntarily shifted their gazes towards the Ghostly Sea.
Their faces were all solemn.
Hum, hum, hum~!
After these towering Great Demons appeared, their figures quickly vanished.
One by one, they all turned into phantoms filling the sky, ultimately merging into the ancient altar.
For each one that entered, another god-demon phantom appeared correspondingly on the outer wall of the altar.
This is the manifestation of the path of countless gods and demons~!
Whoosh~!
Among them, the most unparalleled was the illusory image of a fiery phoenix.
With a single cry, its terrifying power swept across instantly.
The terrifying momentum caused the wheel of heaven to tremble.
When it flapped its wings, large areas of space-time were annihilated, as if a real god-demon had descended.
The enormous momentum nearly toppled the entire altar.
Absolute terror!
In the end, this phoenix too, became a totem pattern, attaching itself to the edge of the ancient altar.
However, unlike the ordinary patterns formed by other god-demon beasts.
The totem pattern formed by this phoenix illusory figure seemed much more solid.
Moreover, in front of this totem pattern, a dazzling, strangely blood-red drop of eerie blood floated.
Although the blood was small, it was like a brilliant sun.
Inside it, a fiery phoenix was the sole figure.
Heaven and Earth were lawless, the phoenix descended onto the nine heavens!
The might of the phoenix echoed across all heavens!
"Okay, everything is ready."
"Earth Bodhisattva, if you are ready, come up yourself."
When everything was prepared, Chen Chang’an turned around and spoke to Mao Ruxue, who was standing before the crowd.
"Yes, my lord."
Upon hearing this, Mao Ruxue immediately nodded indicating that he understood.
Having seen Mao Ruxue’s nod, Chen Chang’an also put his mind at ease and nodded.
Then, he looked at Black Impermanence and his companions and said:
"Impermanence, Guard Cheng Huang."
"The three of you are responsible for guarding here."
"Assist Earth Bodhisattva in completing this baptism."
"Yes, my lord."
Upon hearing these words, Black Impermanence and the others immediately bowed respectfully.
"In that case, I’ll leave this place in your hands."
"I have some matters to attend to and will take my leave."
"Guard the altar well. If anything happens, do not hesitate to notify me. I will come immediately."
Chen Chang’an nodded and then disappeared after issuing these final instructions.
No one knew that Chen Chang’an’s departure wasn’t because he had something to do.
Instead, he simply didn’t want to stay here and returned to Dao Mountain to laze around.
"Sister Bai, what should I do next?"
"So I just walk straight into the altar, right?"
After Chen Chang’an left, Mao Ruxue approached White Impermanence and the others, pointing at the altar and inquiring.
"Yes."
White Impermanence nodded, then shook her head once more.
Her voice echoed as she spoke:
"But it’s not as simple as just walking in."
"This altar is all but a facade."
"The Nine Rites of Rebirth, be it the upper three rites of the ’True King’ or the middle and lower six rites, are what truly manifest within the altar."
"You’ve chosen the ’True King’ of the upper three rites."
"Upon entering, you’ll be subjected to the Nine Trials of the True King."
"Every trial of the True King is a matter of life and death."
"If you choose to enter, brace yourself for the imminent peril of life and death."
"What?"
"Every trial equates to a life-or-death situation? I must be prepared for the prospect of life and death?"
Hearing White Impermanence’s words, Mao Ruxue was stricken with shock.
She looked at White Impermanence, asking:
"Sister Bai, if it’s so dangerous, why would you guys even choose to enter? Isn’t it tantamount to courting death?"
Mao Ruxue was genuinely perturbed. Were there people out there who willingly embraced death in this day and age?
Upon hearing this, White Impermanence shook her head, her expression somewhat downcast, but she didn’t offer a further clarification.
She simply replied to Mao Ruxue, "My dear Earth Bodhisattva, there are things you wouldn’t understand."
"Some things don’t afford us the luxury of choices."
Indeed, some things don’t permit choices.
Common knowledge has it that Black and White Impermanence were fortunate to stumble upon Emperor Song.
With Emperor Song’s patronage, they managed to ascend to their current status.
However,
Few knew the story that unfolded behind this.
If they had any say back then, they would not have opted for this path.
Of course, that was all in the past now.
To choose or not, well, this is how they ended up, and White Impermanence had nothing else to say.
"Oh, I see."
Observing that White Impermanence was reluctant to divulge more, Mao Ruxue refrained from probing further, nodding her head as if in understanding.
"What about you, Earth Bodhisattva, do you have a compelling reason?"
White Impermanence was now the curious one.
She had scrutinized Mao Ruxue’s past thoroughly over the past few days.
She learned that this new Earth Bodhisattva was just an ordinary Yin officer who had just barely broken through to the Third Realm.
Prior to becoming the Earth Bodhisattva, she was even stuck at the Second Realm.
Yet, this ordinary woman chosen to go through a field of thousands, to emerge bloodied and battered, then climbed to such heights.
Was it worth it?
White Impermanence was puzzled.
"Huh? Sister Bai, are you asking the purpose of my decision?"
Mao Ruxue was surprised and took a moment to ponder.
"I suppose, I don’t quite know."
"But, if I must provide a reason, would it be acceptable to say that becoming the ’True King’ would make me wealthy and cool?"
Speaking thus, Mao Ruxue flashed a sly smile at White Impermanence before striding into the altar.
Uh.
Hearing Mao Ruxue’s response, White Impermanence remained silent.
Watching the young woman’s slow steps towards the altar, she had a sudden realization that for the very first time among her peers, she couldn’t fathom someone.
At this moment, White Impermanence suddenly felt that perhaps this enigmatic girl might genuinely survive the Nine Trials of the True King.
And thus, truly become an Earth Bodhisattva!
Meanwhile, Mao Ruxue was oblivious to White Impermanence’s thoughts.
At this moment, she had already arrived at the vicinity of the altar.
Then, under the gaze of the crowd, without further hesitation, she stepped into the altar.
Hum Hum Hum~!
The moment Mao Ruxue stepped in, the surroundings of the altar lit up with waves of chaotic aura, completely enveloping her.
The very next instant, Mao Ruxue’s figure completely disappeared from sight.
Only a shadowy outline, a phantom of her physique, remained at its original location.
From the outside, not a trace of her presence could be detected as if she had genuinely vanished from heaven and earth.
But, White Impermanence and others standing outside knew.
Mao Ruxue had not disappeared.
And, it wouldn’t be long before the world bears witness to another magnificent entity.
...
