Chapter 838: Chapter 364: Steam Council (Part 2)
Even though this organization isn’t considered top-tier, with Peace joining, it will become top-tier.
To achieve results in multiplayer team competition games, learning to bond is the simplest and most effective method.
As Peace mentioned earlier, the duty of the Secret Magic Knight Order is to guard the order of the Grimland Extraordinary Realm. Those shady characters are clearly their enemies.
If we can extract some intelligence, wouldn’t it be enough for them to join as a pledge?
Sword Star first released some Energy to attract the Black Robe’s attention, then spread his hands to show he meant no harm, slowly approaching the other party.
It was apparent that the Black Robe had good expectations for Sword Star and Cold Mountain. He willingly revealed himself, indicating a desire to approach them.
He did not stop Sword Star from approaching, but rather, after Sword Star neared him, exchanged a few brief words with him.
After speaking with Sword Star, the Black Robe left the top of the bridge tower without lingering.
"What did you just talk about?" Cold Mountain asked.
Sword Star said, "He said he knows we’re not Stilan locals and that we came with a special purpose as outsiders."
"He gave me a task and said that if we can complete the task, we can join his organization and face the future together."
"He also mentioned that their organization is called the Steam Council."
While the battle was heated on Grimland Bridge, the raging fire at Philip Villa was initially subdued through the efforts of the firefighters.
Wu Chang and Raventon ignored warnings about the possibility of reignition, pushing aside firefighters to enter Philip Villa directly.
Just as the fire subsided, the temperature inside the room was akin to an oven; Wu Chang and Raventon needed to envelop their bodies with Extraordinary Power to avoid being scorched by the remaining heatwaves.
They entered from the villa’s main door and proceeded to the hall.
The fire was thorough, and everything that could burn clean in the room had turned to charcoal.
Wu Chang found the family of Baron Philip in the dining room; from the scene, it looked like they were hosting a birthday banquet.
Baron Philip, the Baroness, and their four children were present, with the youngest seemingly in the middle of making a wish.
The servants and the butler of the Baron’s household were busy serving dishes.
How could he discern so much?
Because the entire family of Philip was frozen at the moment the child was making a wish, were it not for their bodies being so charred, one could say they were "lively as ever."
And all of Baron Philip’s servants, whether appropriate to be present or not, were standing in the dining room, maintaining a celebratory posture.
They didn’t struggle, they didn’t flee, they kept their state at the time, consumed by flames.
This eerie carbonized family portrait scared the firefighters who followed them in, making them sit on the ground, trembling, saying:
"Demons, this must be the work of demons!"
"There are no demons." Wu Chang interrupted the firefighter’s shout, saying:
"This was a meticulously planned murder case. Go out immediately, seal the scene, and call for the Secret Police."
The firefighter didn’t know how to summon the Secret Police, but he didn’t want to stay here for another moment, so he got up and fled outside as if escaping.
After driving off the firefighters, Wu Chang and Raventon searched the villa.
The bad news was, the inside was burned thoroughly; even Baron Philip’s safe was deformed by the flames.
Cracking open the safe, all the documents inside, including paper money, were carbonized at high temperatures, leaving not a single clue.
The good news was, the arsonist did such a thorough job that it left a trace of resentment from Baron Philip.
In the flame-like burning resentment, Wu Chang’s vision shifted, reverting to before the fire started.
His consciousness attached to Baron Philip, dotingly watching his youngest son.
Today was his youngest son’s fifth birthday. To celebrate the day, he ordered a customized birthday cake a month in advance from Grimland’s most upscale bakery.
As the cake was brought up by the servants, the family was immersed in the celebratory atmosphere.
He stood up to offer blessings to his youngest son, who then clasped his hands and began to make a wish.
At that moment, he realized his body couldn’t move; he used all his strength to barely lift his head.
He saw a Black Robe walking into the dining room from outside. His other servants not only didn’t stop him but followed soullessly behind the Black Robe.
The outfit of the Black Robe was similar to what Wu Chang had seen in the Miner Thieves’ resentment, the only difference being this Black Robe held a cane.
The cane’s handle had a special emblem, resembling five steam pipes extending from a continent, with the continent’s outline matching Stilan’s shape on the map.
The instant the Baron saw the Black Robe, his heart skipped a beat, as foreboding filled his mind.
He said stiffly, "Xavier, today is my son’s birthday; if there’s something, let’s talk tomorrow."
The Black Robe called Xavier sat at the far end of the long dining table, directly across from Baron Philip, and said leisurely:
"Sorry, but you and your family won’t have a tomorrow."
Baron Philip became panicked and asked, "What do you mean by that?"
Xavier said, "You should have already guessed it; the Pine Tree Coal Mine incident was exposed. We can’t leave you."
Baron Philip was silent for a moment, then exhaled deeply and said, "I can die, but don’t forget that when I joined you, you promised to take care of my family."
