Chapter 67 - The Revival of Spiritual Energy
After Nebula finished speaking, both Lu Ran and Pluto fell into silence. They both felt that this update was beyond outrageous. The two exchanged glances.
Because this was a major event that could cause global upheaval, they couldn’t offer any more insightful opinions as they were only apprentice beastmasters.
They wouldn’t be able to change anything on the grand scale of things, so their first thoughts were about things happening around them.
“Well, I’ll take my leave now.”
Lu Ran had originally planned to leave, but the update announcement had delayed him. Now, he was even more eager to go. He wanted to leave Limitless City and return to the Blue Planet to see how the world had changed.
Would there be situations like the monster attacks on cities from his dream?
Hopefully not...
In Lu Ran’s dream, some monsters were like mythical beasts. They were tens of meters tall, incredibly powerful, and capable of destroying entire skyscrapers with a single breath. Even now, Captain Doofus didn’t possess such strength.
At its best, Captain Doofus could demolish a small house, but it was nowhere near the level of those monstrous creatures that blotted out the sky in his dream.
Although Limitless City had initiated global evolution, there was no reason for animals and plants to evolve that rapidly.
“Alright Pluto, let’s head back too,” Nebula said, eager to return to the Blue Planet to check on the situation.
The three of them left the Galaxy Guild together.
...
As Lu Ran made his way to his private room, his mind was filled with thoughts. Meanwhile, beastmasters within Limitless City were engaging in constant discussions as more and more people were teleporting out.
Originally, the hottest topic in Limitless City #3 was supposed to be Pedestrian A showing overwhelming strength in defeating a Low-rank Champion raid boss.
Since the announcement from Limitless City was broadcasted, nobody had mentioned that anymore. Compared to a single newcomer’s performance, the global upheaval was clearly more significant.
“The official explanation is that Limitless City is a facility left behind by an ancient civilization to train beastmasters. But now, it’s not just training humans, it’s accelerating the evolution of wild animals that haven’t been contracted.
“This could very well impact the human race. In other words, Limitless City isn’t completely on humanity’s side?
“But if you think about it, it kind of makes sense. Survival breeds strength, and with external pressure, nations will place even more emphasis on the beastmaster profession.
“At the same time, the evolution of the world’s flora and fauna will provide beastmasters with better-qualified familiars and richer resources. Or perhaps, spiritual energy revival is inevitable, and Limitless City is simply accelerating the process, aligning with the world’s natural progression.”
Lu Ran mulled over many thoughts as he quickly reached his private room. Without hesitation, he teleported back to the Rainbow Dojo.
The moment Lu Ran arrived at the Rainbow Dojo, he heard chaos within the dojo.
Knock, knock, knock!
“Junior brother Lu Ran, are you in there?” Senior brother He Dali knocked on the door.
“I’m here! What’s up?” Lu Ran responded.
“There was a small earthquake nearby just now. I was checking if everything’s okay on your end. If you’re fine, I’ll be off,” He Dali said.
“I’m fine,” Lu Ran replied as he took out his phone.
At this point, news notifications began popping up non-stop on his phone.

Similar headlines kept flooding in and in just a short amount of time, hundreds of such news stories had been published. The global evolution’s impact far surpassed that of the black card’s descent or the dawn of the Beastmaster Era.
One particular news headline made Lu Ran anxious. He quickly clicked on it, but after seeing that it involved a male blogger, he let out a sigh of relief. Lu Ran hurriedly called Fang Lan and she picked up instantly.
“Fang Lan, how’s it over there? I was just in Limitless City, and it underwent a second update!”
Fang Lan replied, “I already know! I’m super busy right now. Several of my pets suddenly awakened transcendent powers. What should I do?”
Lu Ran exclaimed. “Damn, are you okay? I just saw news of someone being killed by their own pet.”
“Do I look like I’d be in trouble? None of them could take down Little Blue even if they teamed up. It’s just surprising, you know what I mean?”
Fang Lan’s voice indicated she was in her room, evidently managing things.
“Don’t worry, my pets are very close to me. I can control them. How are things on your end?”
Lu Ran replied, “Nothing much over here. I’m still in Golden Hill, and with the Beastmaster Tower stationed here, even if chaos erupts, they should be able to handle it quickly.”
“Alright, you stay safe. I’ve got to go now. I need to get these little monsters under control!”
On the other end of the line, Fang Lan’s voice carried a hint of excitement.
Lu Ran sighed. Somehow, she seemed pretty satisfied with this global evolution.
After hanging up, Lu Ran started thinking.
Well, with so many animals evolving, the Awakening Leaf and similar higher-tier resources might stop selling, huh?
With that thought, he quickly looked for Sudden Death King. That lazy creature was still asleep.
“Huh?” Lu Ran noticed something different about Sudden Death King as he looked at it.
Its size had increased significantly. Sudden Death King was now as large as his forearm. It seemed this spiritual energy revival had fed Sudden Death King quite well while it slept.
“Sudden Death King, wake up!” Lu Ran called out.
It groggily opened its eyes.
“Waka...”
“Stop sleeping and let’s get our things. We’re heading back to Green Sea City soon.”
Lu Ran was still worried about the situation in Green Sea City. While Golden Hill was a major city with strong military forces, Green Sea City was different.
“You should eat this first,” Lu Ran said, tossing the Lightning-attribute awakening fruit he had gotten from Pluto to Sudden Death King.
“Waka?”
Sudden Death King’s eyes lit up as it stared at the blue fruit, sensing its alluring energy. As a staunch carnivore, it rarely took an interest in fruit.
“Waka!”
It expressed its thanks for the gift, then zipped around the Lightning Attribute-Awakening Fruit like a whirlwind.
In the blink of an eye, half the fruit was gone. With another sprint, Sudden Death King devoured the entire thing.
I’m stuffed. I’m going to explode.
After finishing, Sudden Death King slumped on the floor like an overfed couch potato, basking in contentment.

But in the next moment, its eyes widened.
Zap, zap, zap!
Blue-white electricity erupted from its body as the intense awakening process started. Sudden Death King started fearing for its life, thinking it really might explode.
“Don’t worry.”
Lu Ran observed its condition while checking his phone. Under the blue-white lightning, Sudden Death King looked like a mini dragon bathed in lightning. Although the panicked expression it had didn’t quite match the majestic scene.
Meanwhile, Lu Ran dialed Zhao Chen, Surfing White Dragon’s supervisor.
“Lu Ran?”
Zhao Chen’s voice sounded weary. He was undoubtedly swamped, but he answered upon seeing it was Lu Ran.
“Uncle Zhao, I just got back from Limitless City. What’s the situation around the world?”
“Oh, don’t worry. Although wild animals are mutating and evolving everywhere, the scale of evolution varies. The wild animals near cities aren’t evolving as much as those in the wilderness.
”So there shouldn’t be an immediate threat to the cities. As for the ones near human settlements, the authorities will quickly handle them.”
“How’s Green Sea City doing?”
“Green Sea City is pretty much the same as other cities.
“They’ve already reported to the Golden Hill Beastmaster Tower about four significantly mutated creatures. It could be due to their natural talents or some other fortuitous encounter, but these creatures are far stronger than the others that have evolved.
“No one knows the exact rules of the natural energy eruptions. Not only are animals evolving, but plants are as well, with some turning into resources, including rare ones.
“Creatures that consume these resources or are exposed to more natural energy will experience massive early-stage evolution, some of them even surpassing level 10! The ones I mentioned are suspected to have exceeded level 10.
“But don’t worry, Green Sea City’s armed forces are closely monitoring those four feral beasts, ensuring they don’t go rogue. Even if they evolve further, they shouldn’t be able to withstand modern firepower.
“Of course, there are a few beasts in the urban areas that are harder to deal with.”
“What kind of beasts?” Lu Ran asked.
Zhao Chen responded, “Let me see. There’s a stray cat that’s evolved to the size of a tiger and has gathered a dozen other transcendent stray cats around it. They’ve taken over a seafood market, making them tough to handle, especially since the area still has vendors and is a high-traffic zone.
“In Qingwu Lake, someone spotted a giant turtle surfacing briefly before it submerged again.
“In the skies above the city, flocks of crows have been spotted flying in masses, led by one crow that seems to have awakened the Dark attribute. It’s as large as a hawk.
“And in Red Leaf Park, there’s a giant cricket about the size of a human. It devoured an entire row of plants and even attacked the familiars of a beastmaster before flying into the mountains. These four seem to be the most evolved creatures in Green Sea City.”
“Wait, wait!!!”
As Zhao Chen finished speaking, Lu Ran’s expression grew strange. Why did it feel like he knew all four of these beasts?
“Uncle Zhao, brother Chen, can you contact the authorities in Green Sea City? Please, urge them to avoid direct conflict with these creatures but ensure they don’t harm civilians. I’m heading back to Green Sea City now, and I’ll handle these mutated beasts properly.
“There aren’t any first, second, or third generation beastmasters in Green Sea City, right? Using guns and cannons would just cause collateral damage, especially in the city.”
“You?”
Lu Ran raised an eyebrow.
“Uncle Zhao, don’t underestimate me.”
If it were any other city, Lu Ran wouldn’t be so bold, but this was Green Sea City!
“Who would dare!?” Zhao Chen broke out in a sweat.
