Li Chenlin lay in the hospital, completely on edge. "How much longer is this going to take?"

Lu Tingyan yawned, taking a moment from his busy schedule to glance at him. "Good work takes time. Why are you in such a hurry? Susu hates impatient guys like you."

Li Chenlin stiffened as if Lu Tingyan had struck a raw nerve. He held his breath and lay back down. "Then at least tell me how much longer I have to lie here."

He’d been lying in this hospital bed for days, perfectly healthy and pain-free!

Lu Tingyan glanced at his tail, which was gradually becoming more defined as if about to differentiate, and smiled faintly. "It should be soon. Don’t be anxious."

Li Chenlin was getting annoyed, and he was also a little hungry.

Yelias pushed the door open and came in, carrying a plate of grass and carrot salad. He brought it to Li Chenlin. "Eat up."

Li Chenlin took the salad and snorted. "I’ll put up with this farce for a month, tops. If there are no results in a month, I’m taking my mom and leaving."

Lu Tingyan and Yelias exchanged a look.

Yelias gave Lu Tingyan a look that silently asked if they were really going through with it.

Lu Tingyan’s gaze was resolute. With Susu already staying out all night, what other choice did they have?

Yelias turned to Li Chenlin, his expression calm and composed. "Don’t worry. It won’t even take a month. You’ll see results in ten days, at most."

Hearing this, Li Chenlin finally relaxed a little.

He asked again, still uneasy, "How’s my mom doing at Bai Su’s place? Is she settling in okay? Has she been asking to see me?"

Lu Tingyan said, "Don’t worry, she’s doing great. She’s busy learning to read and watching cartoons. She has no time to worry about you."

Li Chenlin turned his head away and snorted again, but his expression had softened considerably.

As he chewed on the carrots and grass in his mouth, he suddenly caught a rich, fragrant scent.

It smelled like some kind of meat.

Li Chenlin paused. "Where’s that meat smell coming from?"

A flicker of light crossed Lu Tingyan’s eyes. "You must be smelling things. No one is eating meat here."

Li Chenlin sniffed again. He was sure it was the smell of meat.

Only, the smell made him a little uncomfortable.

In the past, the smell of meat and fresh blood would have excited him, but lately, he seemed to be eating meat less and less often.

Li Chenlin suddenly looked down at the vegetable salad and carrots on his plate.

’These are the foods I’ve always hated most. How am I eating them with such relish?’

’And I’ve been eating them for days now.’

Furious, Li Chenlin yanked out the tubes connected to his body. "Bullshit! You’re modifying my genes! What are you trying to turn me into?"

He glared darkly at Lu Tingyan. "You dare to do this behind my back? And after I trusted you so much! What are you trying to turn me into?!"

Yelias blinked and gave Lu Tingyan an innocent look. "Well, since he already knows, we might as well tell him. Otherwise, he’ll think we’re doing something terrible to him."

Lu Tingyan sighed. "Don’t get so worked up. Sit down, and I’ll tell you."

But Li Chenlin wasn’t about to believe a word they said.

He released his spiritual power, rapidly enveloping his entire body and armoring himself completely. "Talk. I’m listening."

Lu Tingyan said, "Don’t you want Susu to accept you again?"

Yelias added, "So we’re just changing you into a form she’ll like."

A bad feeling crept into Li Chenlin’s heart. "What do you mean, ’change me into a form she’ll like’?"

Lu Tingyan smiled. "Susu is a rabbit, so naturally, we’ll just turn you into a Rabbit Beastman."

"In your dreams!" Li Chenlin furiously smashed the cup from his bedside table.

Lu Tingyan frowned slightly. "What are you doing? We’re doing this for your own good."

Yelias said, "Don’t be ungrateful. We’re just trying to help you."

Lu Tingyan continued, "Susu doesn’t like Snake Beastmen, and don’t you want to win her over? If we turn you into a Rabbit Beastman, you’ll be able to please her easily."

"We’re doing all of this so you and Susu can have a better relationship. Why can’t you appreciate it?"

"We’re doing this for your own good, and you start smashing things?"

Li Chenlin’s chest heaved with rage. He gritted his teeth and glared at the two of them. "I’m ordering you, stop whatever you’re doing to me right now, and change my body’s data back!"
