Chapter 155: Chapter 154: Bai Su Gets a New Item

When Li Fengjue arrived at the scene, all he saw was a field of wreckage and ruin.

He looked at Li Chenlin, who was rampaging in the distance, and felt a deep-seated fear of this terrifyingly powerful son.

He never expected that after all these years of driving Li Chenlin out of the Imperial Palace and expelling him from the Royal Family, not only had he failed to suppress his son’s power, but he had allowed it to grow wild.

When Li Chenlin saw his good-for-nothing father approach, a flash of disgust crossed his eyes. He raised a hand, and his serpentine tail shot out, wrapping precisely around Li Fengjue’s neck and tightening viciously. "Is this what you call taking good care of my mother?"

The surrounding soldiers were scared out of their wits.

’This is the king of the Southern Country!’

’If anything happens to him, the entire Southern Country will descend into chaos!’

A flicker of fear passed through Li Fengjue’s eyes, but his expression remained relatively calm. "Panicking won’t do any good. I’ve already sent people out to search. Whatever the issue is, we’ll talk after we find her."

Hearing this, Li Chenlin slammed him to the ground. "Don’t forget," he said coldly, "if Mother didn’t love you and insist on staying by your side, I would have killed you long ago!"

This man, his father by blood, had never shown him a shred of warmth. Since childhood, he had feared his son’s power and tried multiple times to get rid of him for good.

If his mother hadn’t protected him since he was a child, he would have died long ago.

That was why when Li Chenlin came of age at eighteen and became the king of the global underworld, the first thing he did was storm the Southern Country’s Imperial Palace, intending to dethrone his own father.

He just never expected his mother to protect the man with her own life.

Constrained by his mother, Li Chenlin had no choice but to accept his expulsion from the Royal Family.

Li Fengjue had used his mother to control and suppress him for years.

His mother was the balancing point between them.

’If that balance is gone, I’ll tear this so-called father of mine to shreds with my own hands!’

Terrified by the darkness in his son’s eyes, Li Fengjue scrambled backward, stammering, "I... I’m the person your mother cares about most! If she comes back and can’t find me, she’ll be devastated!"

At the mention of his mother, Li Chenlin finally withdrew his cold gaze.

"What are you all standing around for! Send more people out to search!"

Li Fengjue secretly breathed a sigh of relief, then put on a sorrowful expression. "Your mother was perfectly fine. How could she suddenly disappear? Could it be that one of your enemies came to our door, planning to use her to threaten you?"

"I love your mother so much. If anything happens to her, I won’t be able to go on living..."

Li Chenlin only found his words incredibly irritating.

His intuition told him there had to be some other reason for his mother’s disappearance.

But after so many days of searching, there wasn’t a single clue.

Li Chenlin was on the verge of giving up.

Suddenly, a filthy figure from nearby rushed forward, crying, "Little Lin! Little Lin..."

Li Fengjue subtly glanced at a soldier in the distance.

The soldier understood and quickly intercepted the person.

The voice sounded somewhat familiar to Li Chenlin. He narrowed his eyes. "Bring that person here."

Li Fengjue’s fingertips trembled slightly as he frowned in disapproval. "It’s just some beggar off the street. Finding your mother is what’s most important right now. Just give this bum some money and send them away."

Hearing his mother mentioned, Li Chenlin dismissed the thought and turned to leave.

"Little Lin! Little Lin, it’s me, Aunt Mei! Aunt Mei!"

At the name "Aunt Mei," Li Chenlin’s pupils contracted sharply.

He whipped around. "Bring her here!"

Li Fengjue shot a look at the soldier.

The soldier received the command and, using the chaotic scene as cover, raised his gun and aimed in Aunt Mei’s direction, about to fire.

In an instant, Li Chenlin’s spiritual power erupted and surged toward the soldier.

With a loud BANG, the soldier’s body exploded into pieces.

Aunt Mei collapsed to the ground in terror.

Li Chenlin turned his head, his expression unreadable as he glanced at Li Fengjue.

Li Fengjue’s eyelid twitched, and he quickly looked away.

Li Chenlin closed the distance in a few quick strides, rushing to Aunt Mei’s side and helping her up.

When he got a clear look at her face, the icy mask on his own melted slightly. "Aunt Mei, it really is you?!"

Aunt Mei was the servant who had attended to his mother since they were children, having grown up alongside her.

She was a female who was unable to have children.

Forgetting her fear, Aunt Mei grabbed Li Chenlin’s arm tightly. "Save your mother! Save her!!"

Li Chenlin’s expression hardened. "What happened to my mom?!"

Li Fengjue, standing nearby, feigned shock. "You’re really Little Mei? Aren’t you supposed to be in a mental hospital? How did you get out?"

He turned to Li Chenlin. "You aren’t often at the Imperial Palace, so you wouldn’t know. Little Mei was diagnosed with a mental disorder three years ago. I sent her to a psychiatric hospital for treatment. I don’t know how she managed to escape..."

Little Mei desperately tightened her grip on Li Chenlin’s arm. "Don’t believe him! He’s a hypocrite! He imprisoned your mother and has been abusing her all these years! Your mother only snuck out of the Imperial Palace because she wanted to find you!"

"This hypocrite, Li Fengjue, took advantage of your mother’s simple-mindedness! After using her to threaten you and drive you away, he showed his true, villainous colors."

"He’s been trying to get the key from your mother—the one that allows the Snake Beastman Royal Family bloodline to command the Sea Clan. She refused to tell him, so he tortured her every single day!"

"Your mother... She’s suffered so much!"

"The reason she ran away is that she’s been poisoned by the torture and is terminally ill! She has less than two months to live, and she wanted to do one last thing for you..."

"Ma’am, why are you giving me this key?" Bai Su asked, confused, as she looked at the small key in her hand.

It was exquisitely crafted, no bigger than her pinky finger, with a sapphire embedded in the head of the key.

Hua Hua giggled foolishly. "Key. For daughter-in-law."

Bai Su burst out laughing. "You want me to be your daughter-in-law?"

Hua Hua lovingly stroked Bai Su’s small rabbit ears. "I saw. You and my boy, on TV. Kissing. You are daughter-in-law!"

Bai Su froze at her words, her face turning red. "Huh?"

She cleared her throat and asked, a little curious, "And who is your boy?"

Hua Hua: "My boy is my boy!"

Amused, Bai Su tried phrasing it differently. "Then what’s your boy’s name?"

Hua Hua grew even more perplexed. "It’s... ’My Boy’."

Bai Su asked, still puzzled, "Are you sure you haven’t mistaken me for someone else? Was the person you saw on TV really me?"

Hua Hua nodded emphatically. "Yes! It was you!"

On a big boat.

My boy has a bad temper. He even ate a maid, which made his daughter-in-law angry.

She had come to smooth things over.

Her boy was actually very well-behaved; the daughter-in-law just didn’t understand him.

Hua Hua stroked the key in her palm again. "My boy said to give this to you."

She saw her boy say it on TV—that he wanted to give the sea to his daughter-in-law.

To truly possess the sea, one needed the key.

Bai Su was hesitant to accept it. She tried to return the key. "Ma’am, you must have the wrong person."

’This woman seems confused, just grabbing people and giving them things.’

’The key itself is unremarkable, but the gem on it looks very expensive. If I take it, and her family comes looking for her later, it could cause unnecessary trouble.’

Seeing that she wouldn’t take it, Hua Hua grew anxious. "Take it! Just take it!"
