Chapter 213: Chapter 213: As Long as the Family is Together
Just as Yu An was feeling utterly confused, Ao Yin waved his hand. The subordinate he had brought with him last time went out and returned with five people.
"An’an!"
The one at the very front, Ao Wu, trotted over, excitedly trying to hug Yu An... ah, but he couldn’t.
"An’an, why have you gotten so small!"
She’d become so tiny. Forget hugging her; Ao Wu was worried that even if he held her in his palm, she might slip right through his fingers.
"There was a bit of an accident," Yu An said, rubbing the tip of her nose. "Why are you all here?"
"We came to find you," Han Li said as he walked over, glancing at Lord Mo. "An’an, we can’t defeat him, but we have to be with you no matter what."
Lord Mo frowned. "Are you done talking? If not, take it outside."
His room wasn’t small, but with five males entering all at once, it suddenly felt exceptionally cramped.
"My Lord," Ao Yin said, looking at the five newcomers. He suggested, "They’re here for Yu An. Why not let her go with them? She’s useless now anyway."
Yu An shot him a surprised look. ’Would Ao Yin really be so kind?’ she thought.
Of course, Ao Yin wasn’t being kind. He could see that Lord Mo was very indulgent toward Yu An, and since Yu An rarely left the courtyard, it meant he had no opportunity to make a move.
In Ao Yin’s eyes, both Yu An and Ao Jin were stumbling blocks on his path to pursuing Yu Huang. They both had to be eliminated!
Lord Mo hadn’t looked at him at all, but now he finally spared him a glance. "No."
With that, he turned to Mo Yan and the other four. "Go back to where you came from. No harm will come to her."
They didn’t move. They all looked at Yu An.
Yu An had already used up her time to be big for the day, so she beckoned for Mo Yan to carry her over to Lord Mo.
Another round of bargaining ensued. Yu An demanded that Mo Yan and the other four be allowed to stay in the Invincible Alliance. Otherwise, she would stop cooking from now on. In her current soul state, it didn’t matter to her whether she ate or not anyway.
Lord Mo was silent for a moment before agreeing, but he made it clear that the five of them could not live in his courtyard.
That wasn’t a problem. When Yu An had been wandering around earlier, she had seen an empty courtyard right next door.
Ao Yin was dissatisfied, but he didn’t dare make a peep in front of Lord Mo. Frustrated, he had to order his subordinate to clean up the courtyard next door.
With Mo Yan and the others here, Yu An naturally wouldn’t be bored sitting on the table by herself anymore. She was carried over to the neighboring courtyard, cupped in Mo Yan’s hands.
Lord Mo showed no intention of making her stay, only reminding her not to forget to come over and cook.
"Don’t worry, don’t worry, I won’t forget! See you later~"
Her voice was brimming with cheerfulness. After they left, Lord Mo silently closed his eyes.
Ao Yin had his people do a quick cleanup and deliver the necessary furniture and other items. The group then picked a random room and went inside.
Both sides explained what had happened during their time apart. When the five men learned that Yu An hadn’t suffered, they all breathed a sigh of relief.
"An’an, we all know his identity now. The Female Mother said that no one can defeat him."
Ao Wu sounded dejected. "Are we... are we really just going to let him destroy the world?"
He didn’t want to die. Even more, he didn’t want Yu An, the Zaizai, or his other family and friends to die.
They had only just reunited after so much trouble, and they hadn’t even had much time to enjoy their good days before being faced with something like this.
Yu An sat cross-legged on the table, sighing as she propped up her chin. "Let’s just take it one step at a time," she said vaguely. "Maybe things will take a turn for the better later on."
All five of them knew Yu An’s personality. She wasn’t one to sit back and wait for death. Hearing her say this, they instantly understood that she might know something, or that she might have a way to stop Lord Mo from destroying the world.
Yu An winked at them and told them everything she could, such as the bet between the Beast God and Lord Mo. However, to prevent Lord Mo from somehow learning about their conversation, she didn’t reveal a single word of what the Beast God had "privately chatted" with her about.
"Actually, that’s fine," Feng Xuan said, gently stroking Yu An. "As long as our family is together, that’s all that matters. By the way, An’an, can you let the Zaizai out?"
Yu An paused. Because the Invincible Alliance had previously captured many young cubs, she had told the Zaizai to stay obediently in her pocket dimension and not come out. But in all her time here, she still hadn’t been able to find out what the Invincible Alliance was using the captured cubs for.
Guard Captain Zhao and the others were unaware of this; they didn’t even know that the Invincible Alliance was capturing cubs.
They did, however, know that the Invincible Alliance captured ordinary beastmen, fed them poison, and then forced them to swear allegiance to the Alliance.
Guard Captain Zhao had mentioned that as long as one stayed with the Invincible Alliance for two years and swore loyalty, the Alliance Hierarch would provide the antidote.
Thanks to that meal from before, she had managed to exchange a few words with Ao Yin’s subordinate. But the timing wasn’t right, so she didn’t probe recklessly, afraid of arousing the man’s suspicion.
Yu An thought for a moment and said, "I’ll try asking Lord Mo. He might know something."
With this idea in mind, she made a lot of Lord Mo’s favorite dishes that evening. But when she finally asked her question, Lord Mo paused.
"Why are you asking about this?"
"I’m curious," Yu An said, ladling a bowl of soup for him. "I once found a wooden cabin in the Mist Forest. There were flowers with human faces growing there, and..."
Thinking about what she had seen in the cabin’s cellar, she took a deep breath. "And the bodies of cubs. I found some things there that prove the place once belonged to the Invincible Alliance."
Lord Mo said coolly, "I don’t know much about it. But if you want to let your children out, you can. Just don’t let Ao Yin take them."
"Why?" Yu An’s heart leaped into her throat. "Would he do something to my Zaizai?"
"No," Lord Mo said, taking a sip of the winter melon meatball soup. "You and your children are Ao Jin’s descendants. He hates anyone associated with him."
Yu An pressed on, "So you mean Ao Yin won’t capture my children and make them end up dead or injured like the cubs the Invincible Alliance captured before?"
Lord Mo glanced at her, then lowered his gaze. "He won’t."
Yu An became even more certain that Lord Mo knew something, but it was obvious he wasn’t going to tell her.
"Then I’ll let my Zaizai out," she said tentatively. "Lord Mo, can you guarantee that they’ll be safe?"
Lord Mo glanced at the food in his bowl. "As long as they don’t leave the Invincible Alliance, yes."
"That’s good enough," Yu An said, breathing a sigh of relief. She beamed. "Then I’m counting on you for their safety, my Lord!"
With that, she eagerly presented a slice of cream cake. "Dessert! Have a taste. This one is a real pain to make, so I don’t make it often."
Lord Mo couldn’t help but feel that he had just brought a great deal of trouble upon himself. But looking at the beautiful cake Yu An offered, he couldn’t bring himself to refuse it.
"They cannot leave the grounds of the Invincible Alliance," he repeated as he took the cake. "If they go outside, I can’t guarantee anything."
Yu An made a gesture. "No problem, I’ll tell them... Oh, right, I need to go back to my body for a bit."
Although her current soul state was almost indistinguishable from a real person, she still had to return to her original body if she wanted to open her pocket dimension.
’It’s a bit of a hassle. I really wish I could get my body back here.’
