Chapter 600: What a Coincidence
Qiao Sang: !!!
Calling for backup when you can’t win? That’s totally dishonorable!
"Yap!"
Yabao bared his teeth, looking eager to fight.
Qiao Sang sensed Yabao’s excitement and was shocked.
Gray-Painted Sparrow is a high-level pet beast, and you’re still this excited even when surrounded by a whole group of them?!
Just as Yabao was about to gather energy and charge into battle, Qiao Sang shouted:
"Little Treasure!"
"Xun xun!"
Little Treasure immediately understood his Beast Master’s intention. His eyes glowed blue as energy surged wildly within his body.
The next second, he vanished from the spot, taking Qiao Sang, Yabao, and Gangbao along with him.
Qiao Sang’s vision went dark. When the light returned, she found herself in the middle of a dense forest.
"Yap…"
Yabao’s voice came from beside her.
Qiao Sang turned and saw him with drooping ears, looking utterly disappointed.
Little Treasure lay limp on Yabao’s back, looking completely drained.
Meanwhile, Gangbao was the most energetic of the group, flapping her wings and curiously observing the surroundings with an excited expression.
Qiao Sang took a moment to recover, then pulled out her phone and checked the navigation.
A mechanical female voice announced:
"You have deviated from the route. Recalculating your path. Please make a U-turn at the nearest safe location. This area is a wild pet beast habitat with a danger rating of four stars. Please leave immediately. Your destination, No. 106 Awu Avenue, is 21 kilometers away."
Qiao Sang stared at Little Treasure in shock.
"You actually moved us that far in one go?!"
Little Treasure couldn’t even lift his eyelids.
"Xun xun…"
He let out a weak cry, expressing that he had completely exhausted his energy just to escape…
Did he really have to push himself this hard? Qiao Sang twitched her lips.
"Drink some energy recovery potion first." She said.
"Xun xun…"
Little Treasure didn’t even have the strength to nod. He let out another feeble sound, indicating that he was too tired to move and needed a moment.
Qiao Sang: …Fine.
She formed a hand seal, summoning an orange-yellow star formation on the ground. A moment later, Lubao emerged from the light.
Without waiting for instructions, Lubao took one look around and immediately understood that Little Treasure was in trouble.
"Lu."
The gemstone on Lubao’s forehead glowed blue, radiating light onto Little Treasure.
"Xun xun!"
As the blue light faded, Little Treasure was fully rejuvenated.
The weakness from energy depletion disappeared, though his energy levels weren’t restored yet.
Little Treasure quickly got up and impatiently reached into his spatial ring to retrieve an energy recovery potion.
Suddenly, the sound of rustling leaves broke the silence.
Qiao Sang tensed and surveyed the surroundings.
"Yabao, Lubao, stay alert. Our safety depends on you."
Little Treasure had no energy left, making him vulnerable if a wild pet beast appeared.
Gangbao was only a beginner-level pet beast. Earlier, when they encountered the high-level Gray-Painted Sparrows, a whole flock showed up.
Now that they were in a wild pet beast habitat, Qiao Sang instinctively didn’t count Gangbao as part of their combat strength.
"Yap Yap!"
Yabao’s ears perked up, instantly forgetting his earlier disappointment about missing the fight. He looked thrilled.
"Lu."
Lubao’s expression remained unchanged, but her gaze grew more watchful.
The rustling stopped. A small green insect-like pet beast, about twenty centimeters long, slowly crawled down a tree nearby.
Halfway down, it noticed Yabao and the others.
The green insect froze.
After three seconds, it turned around and slowly climbed back up.
Just a beginner-level pet beast… Qiao Sang sighed in relief.
"Let’s go." She said, climbing onto Yabao’s back.
Even though Little Treasure had no energy for teleportation, Yabao could still move.
She raised her hand, preparing to recall Lubao into the Beast Tamer Codex.
"Gang gang!"
But just then, Gangbao chirped excitedly, indicating that her home was nearby.
Qiao Sang paused, surprised.
"What? Seriously?"
"Gang gang!"
Gangbao nodded. Yes, seriously!
What a coincidence… If they took time to find Gangbao’s clan now, she would probably have no hope of making it to the top three in the class ranking.
But if she went straight to No. 106 Awu Avenue, she would be ignoring this unexpected twist of fate…
Qiao Sang hesitated. Then she looked up and saw Gangbao’s eager expression.
She smiled and made her decision.
"Alright, let’s check out your home first."
Besides, Little Treasure wouldn’t recover his energy anytime soon, and they were still far from their destination. No one else would be unlucky enough to run into a whole flock of Gray-Painted Sparrows like I did…
At that thought, Qiao Sang’s mind drifted.
According to the original navigation route, most people should be flying along the same path. Earlier, she had already caught up with several people.
If they continued along that route, wouldn’t they eventually run into the Gray-Painted Sparrows?
…No way. That would be too unlucky.

She shook off the thought. Others wouldn’t be as unlucky as me. Even if they ran into minor obstacles, they wouldn’t get completely thrown off course like I did.
By now, most of them had likely covered a third of the distance. Without Little Treasure's teleportation, even if she set out immediately, she probably wouldn’t catch up. It was better to settle Gangbao’s matter first.
"Gang gang!"
Gangbao’s eyes sparkled as she flapped her wings, no longer holding back her excitement.
---
A gentle breeze stirred the leaves, scattering dappled sunlight across the ground.
Many small pet beasts peeked out from the grass or trees, curiously observing the newcomers.
Gangbao led the way.
Qiao Sang rode on Yabao’s back, with Lubao walking beside them.
She chose not to recall Lubao. In a wild pet beast habitat, summoning a pet beast might take too long in an emergency. It was safer to keep Lubao out.
Plus, there were no other people around, and Lubao seemed to enjoy exploring this kind of environment.
Their journey was uneventful. Most of the wild pet beasts they encountered were small to mid-sized. Sensing that Yabao and Lubao were stronger, they quickly moved aside.
After about ten minutes, dozens of plant roots suddenly shot out from the ground, trying to entangle them.
"Ice Wind!" Qiao Sang, already on high alert, reacted instantly.
Lubao opened her mouth and released a blast of freezing air.
The icy wind spread in a fan shape, freezing everything in its path.
The roots stopped in their tracks, encased in a layer of ice.
Then, a mechanical voice announced:
"Hammersprout, Grass-type beginner pet beast. It disguises itself as grass and dislikes water. When it starts raining, it disappears without a trace."
Qiao Sang turned, suddenly realizing something.
Little Treasure was holding a small, grass-like pet beast in one paw and a pet beast identifier in the other.
"Hammer—!"
A deep, angry voice boomed from ahead.
Heavy footsteps echoed through the forest.
A towering, three-meter-tall, tree-like pet beast emerged onto the path.
"Xun xun~"
Curious, Little Treasure scanned it with the identifier.
"Hammerwood, Grass-type advanced pet beast. It disguises itself as a tree and has a peaceful nature. It doesn’t attack unless provoked and sometimes even guides lost travelers."
Qiao Sang’s eyelid twitched as she realized what had happened.
She looked at the struggling Hammersprout in Little Xunbao’s paw.
…Oops.
