Chapter 81: Chapter 70: Sky Escape Eagle and Dimensional Rift

By this point, the dumbfounded look on Li Qian’s face had vanished, replaced by... shock and astonishment!

Paying no mind to Li Qian’s stunned expression, Chu Xiran continued without pause, "As the de facto managers of the Dimensional Rifts, this is both a crisis and an opportunity for the Beast Taming Universities."

"The Dimensional Rifts are riddled with dangerous areas, but they are also filled with a countless variety of precious resources."

"Having an entire Dimensional Rift as a training ground, with an inexhaustible supply of Beast Taming resources to claim—that is the true foundation of the Eight Great’s power." 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎

"Any other faction that wants to enter a Dimensional Rift must be at the mercy of the Eight Great."

Chu Xiran sat across from Li Qian, holding nothing back as she revealed the inside story. "As everyone knows, the Kyoto and Central Sea Beast Taming Universities have always been the leaders of the Eight Great."

"The underlying reason for this isn’t just that Kyoto is the capital of the Dongxia Federation and Central Sea is its largest city. It’s also because the Dimensional Rifts that these two universities suppress were the first to appear."

"Their level of exploration in these two rifts is far beyond what the other six can match. Naturally, the resources and training they’ve acquired are on a completely different level as well."

"That is the source of their unrivaled status."

Li Qian took a moment to process the information, the initial shock giving way to contemplation. He frowned and asked, "Then what about ordinary Adventurers?"

Knowing what Li Qian was getting at, Chu Xiran immediately explained, "The Dimensional Rifts are open to all Beast Masters. Ordinary Beast Masters can go, of course. Those are the people you call Adventurers."

"However, comparing them to the Beast Taming Universities is like comparing freelancers to a professional army. In terms of both safety and resource acquisition, there’s simply no comparison."

"Most importantly, they have to pay a fee each time they enter—a fee collected by the corresponding Beast Taming University."

At this point, Chu Xiran added another piece of information. "As far as I know, the Eight Great have all established branch campuses within their respective Dimensional Rifts."

"Of course, for new students like you who have just entered a Beast Taming University, it’s something you definitely won’t come into contact with. You probably won’t even learn about it until you’re a junior."

"So that’s how it is." After hearing Chu Xiran’s explanation, it dawned on Li Qian. "No wonder people say that going to a Beast Taming University and not going are two completely different worlds."

Chu Xiran nodded in agreement. "The reason Shazhou Beast Taming University and Kansai Beast Taming University have a relatively hard time attracting top graduates from Beast Taming High Schools isn’t just because of their remote locations. It’s also because the Dimensional Rifts they suppress appeared more recently, are less developed, and are more dangerous..."

"Of course, there are two sides to every coin. A lower level of development also means a higher probability for an individual to stumble upon a great opportunity..."

"That’s why these two Dimensional Rifts are also the most popular destinations for ordinary Adventurers—though the lower entrance fees certainly help."

Finally, she concluded, "This is the deeper logic behind choosing a Beast Taming University."

Nodding, Li Qian finally understood why Chu Xiran had said that choosing a Beast Taming University was equivalent to choosing your future path.

’Think about it: after spending four years at a Beast Taming University, most of your connections and accumulated experience would be tied to its corresponding Dimensional Rift. It wouldn’t be easy to just walk away from all that.’

’If you went to a different Dimensional Rift, you would lose all your geographical advantages and personal connections. Even if it wasn’t starting over from scratch, it would be close.’

’It’s just like how, in my previous life, college graduates often stayed to build careers in the cities where they attended school. The principle is the same.’

’The regional ties forged by the Beast Taming Universities in this world are much stronger than those of the universities in my past life. You could say that unless you reach a certain level of power, it’s incredibly difficult to overcome these geographical limitations.’

"Normally, a recent high school graduate wouldn’t be privy to this kind of information... but you’re not like the other graduates from Beast Taming High School. With your abilities, it was only a matter of time before you learned all this. So, I decided to make an exception and tell you now."

Looking at Li Qian, Chu Xiran’s expression grew complex. "I’m telling you all this because I hope it will help you make a more informed decision."

Not noticing the shift in Chu Xiran’s expression, Li Qian asked another question. "If the Eight Great are suppressing and managing all the Dimensional Rifts on the Ancestral Star, then what about the Beast Taming Legion?"

With a faint laugh, Chu Xiran pointed toward the sky. "Isn’t there another place?"

"The Outer Heaven Battlefield!"

It clicked for Li Qian in an instant. With dawning comprehension, he muttered to himself, "So that’s how it is..."
