Chapter 193: Chapter 175: Beat the Bastard
At an intersection not too far from the Changfeng Cultivation Base, Xu Yue was waiting.
He kept glancing in a certain direction, his eyes glinting with anticipation.
"RING RING RING..." Just then, the crisp sound of a cell phone ringtone suddenly went off.
Xu Yue immediately pulled out his phone to check it.
When he saw the familiar number displayed on the screen, he could no longer suppress his grin.
He answered on the first ring. A familiar voice came through the speaker, "Young Master Xu, we’ve taken care of everything over here."
"Hahaha..." Hearing the familiar voice say those words, Xu Yue burst out laughing.
His laughter was wild and unrestrained.
Still laughing, he made his promise again, "Don’t worry. You’ll get every penny I promised you."
"We trust you, boss," the bald man’s voice replied through the phone.
He then added, "We roughed the target up real bad. He’s still lying on the ground groaning right now. You want to come and see for yourself?"
Xu Yue didn’t hesitate, agreeing instantly. "Good. I’m on my way."
After agreeing, he couldn’t stop the flood of vindictive thoughts.
’So you thought you were hot stuff, you little brat. So aloof, so arrogant, so high and mighty.’
’Well, now’s the perfect chance to see what a pathetic wreck you are.’
’I’m sure it will be a truly amusing sight.’
As he mused on this, the grin on his face grew even wider.
He didn’t waste any time, getting in his car and speeding toward the location mentioned on the phone.
Along the way, he took a mask out of his Spatial Equipment and put it on.
The mask was made of a very special material, looking like a thin film.
Upon putting on the film, Xu Yue’s face immediately began to distort and change.
In the blink of an eye, Xu Yue’s original, somewhat delicate features vanished, replaced by the face of a middle-aged man.
The middle-aged man had high cheekbones, giving him a fierce and rugged look.
In short, with this appearance, no one would ever imagine that he was the same Young Master Xu Yue from before.
Meanwhile, just as Xu Yue was setting off in his car, Li Qian watched the bald man hang up the phone and nodded in satisfaction.
’Good thing I reminded Wu You to watch where she hit,’ he thought. ’If she’d messed up his mouth, he probably wouldn’t have been able to speak clearly.’
’A black and blue face, however, was unavoidable.’
Now, after hanging up, the man sported a face swollen like a pig’s, a sycophantic expression plastered on it as he looked pitifully at Li Qian and Wu You.
Indeed, after a "friendly chat," Li Qian and Wu You had learned everything.
The bald man and his two cohorts had indeed been hired to do a job.
However, they didn’t know who their employer was.
They had met through a middleman and only used codenames when communicating with each other.
This was precisely why Li Qian had asked Wu You to restrain herself and not finish them off outright.
He smiled and walked over to the bald man, watching, unmoved, as the man moaned and writhed on the ground.
’Judging by how skilled he is and the jargon he uses, a guy like this has definitely done his fair share of robbing and hurting people.’
’He doesn’t deserve an ounce of sympathy.’
’Besides, Wu You knew how to pull her punches. These kinds of injuries would land them in bed for half a month, at most.’
He was the one who had walked over to the bald man and told him to call his employer, to try and lure the man here.
At first, the three of them had acted tough, spouting nonsense about some code of honor and how they would never betray their employer.
They made themselves sound so righteous.
Anyone who didn’t know better might have mistaken them for heroes. But all it took was a "cordial visit" from Wu You, and they obediently did as they were told.
’I have to say, their acting is pretty good,’ he thought. ’They have a bit of a Talent for it.’
When the bald man was communicating with his employer, the joyful act he put on was completely natural; you couldn’t detect the slightest trace of falsehood.
As he used the bald man to lure the employer over, Li Qian felt a small stir of anticipation.
He was eager to find out who, exactly, was plotting against him from the shadows.
’To think they hired these three idiots... The employer can’t be very bright either.’
Based on these three morons, Li Qian was almost certain: the employer behind this couldn’t possibly be a Cultist from the Black Divine Teachings.
The Cultists of the Black Divine Teachings were organized and disciplined; their methods would never be so crude and riddled with mistakes.
"S-sir... Ma’am... I called my employer like you told me to. So, uh, can we leave now?" the bald man asked, looking cautiously at Li Qian and Wu You.
The bearded man and the woman with dreadlocks looked on similarly.
SLAP!
But the moment the words left the bald man’s mouth, before Li Qian could even speak, Wu You slapped him.
She glared at him furiously. "Who are you calling ’Ma’am’? Who’s your ma’am? Do I look that old to you?"
"Ouch! My lady, my lady! It was a slip of the tongue, my mistake, my mistake! Please, show mercy!" the bald man yelped, quickly covering his head and changing his form of address as he begged for his life.
"Thinking of leaving? Don’t be in such a hurry," Li Qian said, glancing at them with a sneer. "We can talk about it after your big boss gets here."
