Chapter 181: Chapter 163: Coming to the Door
After breakfast, Li Qian wasted no time and returned to the small white building where he was staying temporarily.
Putting on his VR glasses, he continued to grind through the data on Red Feather Chickens that Gao Yaxin had compiled.
He already had a bad feeling that this data probably wouldn’t yield much Inspiration Value.
But the grind was necessary. After all, in the research of Pet Beast evolution, even one percent of Inspiration Value was extremely precious.
So, even though the data was of limited value due to its research focus, Li Qian wouldn’t give up. He happily dove into it.
At the same time, while Li Qian was grinding through data at Changfeng Cultivation Base, something big was happening over in Lingshui City, at the Jiaoyang Cultivation Base.
"We’re here." Li Qi and Mo Wenbin arrived outside the Jiaoyang Cultivation Base in Lingshui City, their hearts filled with excitement. They couldn’t help but murmur to themselves as they looked at the main gate.
In fact, the two of them had arrived yesterday afternoon, but since it was almost dinnertime, they hadn’t rushed to show up unannounced.
As Security Officers from the Jiangnan Province Public Security Bureau, they had dealt with all sorts of people. Their social and emotional intelligence were not lacking, so they naturally knew that showing up right before a meal would be inappropriate.
So they had to suppress their eagerness and spend the night in Lingshui City.
And so, early the next morning, after a quick bite to eat, they rushed over, unable to wait any longer.
"Officers, who are you looking for?" Seeing two men in Security Officer uniforms standing prim and proper in front of the base, Uncle Zhang immediately stepped out of the guardhouse and asked.
"Could you please inform Mr. Li Chengyang of your base that we’re from the provincial Public Security Bureau?" Li Qi said, his tone quite polite.
"Of course, Officers. Please wait a moment." Hearing this, Uncle Zhang didn’t hesitate. He said a few words and immediately returned to the guardhouse.
Picking up the landline in the guardhouse, Uncle Zhang called Li Chengyang directly.
The response, naturally, was a warm welcome.
In fact, they had been expecting this ever since they began their collaboration with the Jiangnan Province Public Security Bureau.
The only thing they hadn’t expected was how quickly they would arrive. The collaboration was finalized just yesterday, and today they were already here to claim their Pet Beasts.
"This is a good thing. The faster they come, the more it proves how attractive the Cyan-Scaled Flood Dragons and Frostfire Salamanders are." Han Yuqing’s face was all smiles after she heard the news.
After her smiling comment, the two of them immediately put down their breakfast and hurried toward the main gate.
"Welcome." Before they even reached the gate, they spotted the two young Security Officers halfway there. Li Chengyang called out a greeting.
After they met and exchanged a few simple pleasantries, Li Chengyang and Han Yuqing led the two men toward the Central Pond.
"Officers, are you here to claim a Cyan-Scaled Flood Dragon or a Frostfire Salamander?" Li Chengyang asked along the way.
Without hesitation, Li Qi said, "I’m applying for a Frostfire Salamander."
Mo Wenbin gave his answer as well. "I’m applying for a Cyan-Scaled Flood Dragon."
"I don’t have enough Contribution Value to exchange for a Frostfire Salamander." Mo Wenbin noticed a flicker of surprise in Li Qi’s eyes and knew it was because he hadn’t explained earlier. He clarified, "Besides, I think the Cyan-Scaled Flood Dragon is great too. It’s a Wind-Water Dual Element, amphibious and capable of flight, adaptable to all sorts of combat environments."
Li Qi was still a little confused after hearing Mo Wenbin’s explanation. Since they were good friends, he said to Li Chengyang, "Uh, excuse us, we need to discuss something," and then pulled Mo Wenbin about fifty meters away.
"Bro, I can lend you some Contribution Value!" Li Qi said directly once they were some distance away.
Hearing this, Mo Wenbin gave Li Qi a grateful look. "Bro, thanks for the offer, but I genuinely feel the Cyan-Scaled Flood Dragon is the right fit for me."
"The Cyan-Scaled Flood Dragon’s Potential is Tier Five Dominator. Even if you pump it full of resources, at best, you’ll only get it to Tier Nine Dominator. Breaking through to the Emperor Level is basically impossible." Li Qi looked at his good friend and colleague, patiently explaining, "But the Frostfire Salamander is different. Its Potential is Tier Nine Dominator. In the future, as long as you’re willing to invest, breaking past its Racial Potential Limit to reach the Emperor Level isn’t out of the question."
At this point, he suddenly lowered his voice and added, "And don’t tell me you haven’t heard—the Frostfire Salamander has the potential to evolve into an Ice and Fire Giant Dragon. That’s a Holy Spirit-level Pet Beast!"
Although Mo Wenbin was tempted by Li Qi’s words, he still shook his head, his tone firm. "Thanks, bro, but I’m sticking with the Cyan-Scaled Flood Dragon. I trust my gut."
"Alright. I’m sure you’ve given this a lot of thought," Li Qi sighed.
Mo Wenbin patted Li Qi’s shoulder, taking his friend’s kindness to heart. He knew that for Li Qi to offer such advice, he truly had his best interests at heart.
"Let’s go, bro. We shouldn’t keep our hosts waiting." With a faint smile, he was the first to walk back toward Li Chengyang and Han Yuqing.
They continued on, and before long, the four of them arrived at the edge of the Central Pond.
Seeing the eager expressions on the two young Security Officers’ faces, Li Chengyang offered a reminder. "Officers, please show us your application vouchers. Also, I trust you’re aware of the rules here at our Cultivation Base."
"If you want to take a Pet Beast from here, whether it’s a Cyan-Scaled Flood Dragon or a Frostfire Salamander, you must gain its recognition and consent."
Li Chengyang’s meaning was crystal clear: they would not force any Pet Beast to leave.
Li Qi nodded upon hearing this. "Breeder Li Qian has already stressed this point to us."
"We will definitely abide by the rules here. If we can’t even gain their recognition, then we have no right to own a Cyan-Scaled Flood Dragon or a Frostfire Salamander."
Li Qi spoke with great confidence. As he did, he glanced at Mo Wenbin and saw the same overflowing confidence in his friend’s eyes.
"Since you both understand, let’s begin." Seeing this, Han Yuqing smiled and then called out, "Ah Fu, bring them over."
As she spoke, she had already issued the command via Soul Contract to Ah Fu, who was resting in the Central Pond.
