Chapter 2080: Chapter 2099: Xie Yibin
Shen Zian went downstairs and called over Shen Zihang, who was playing with someone, to let the little rascal lead the way.
In the original owner’s memory, despite living at Third Uncle’s house for so long, he hadn’t visited the vegetable garden even once, which Shen Zian deeply despised.
Zhao Honglian’s skill in managing the vegetable garden was mediocre at best, only average. The leeks were mostly cut, but fortunately, this season had an abundance of vegetables; no leeks, but there were still beans, celery, garlic, and so on.
Shen Zian’s eyes lit up when she saw the celery; she loved dumplings stuffed with celery.
"Cousin, is a high-ranking officer coming to our house for dinner?" Shen Zihang, pulling celery alongside, though young, was surprisingly quick.
"Yes! Who did you hear that from?" She didn’t expect the news to spread so widely.
"Heard it from people in the courtyard." Shen Zihang, managing only to pull a few stalks before he couldn’t hold them anymore, placed them on the ground and continued pulling. Watching his cousin’s speed, he felt quite envious. He noticed his cousin had really changed a lot, even working faster.
The siblings were busy when a pretentious voice sounded behind them.
"Is this Little An?"
Shen Zian turned back, and upon seeing the woman standing by the vegetable garden, nearly burst out laughing.
The original owner’s memory didn’t recognize Third Uncle’s vegetable garden, but Gan Yuqin’s face was unforgettable. Scanning her up and down, in her thirties, her skin wasn’t as fair as that of Third Aunt, but she wore makeup, coloring her lips bright red, like she had drunk human blood.
Her gaze betrayed undisguised arrogance and disdain, yet she put on a fake smile that made people get goosebumps.
Shen Zian, half-bent over, tilted her head, taking in Gan Yuqin from top to bottom and almost laughed coldly.
"Isn’t this Deputy Company Commander Shen’s niece, Little An?" Gan Yuqin’s voice was sweet and soft, speaking as if her waist might twist a circle on the spot, "I’m your Third Aunt’s friend; we grew up together. Feel free to come to my home and play. I’m usually home alone with nothing to do, you can keep me company."
Shen Zihang leaned closer to Shen Zian and whispered: "My mom doesn’t like her, badmouths her as shameless behind her back." Unknowingly ratting out his mom.
Shen Zian nodded to Shen Zihang without batting an eye, yet her gaze never left Gan Yuqin.
"Doesn’t your waist hurt twisting like that?" She suddenly asked.
Gan Yuqin froze, realization dawning after a moment that she was being mocked; her face flushed red, teeth clenched secretly before forcefully putting on a smile, laughing awkwardly, "Such a jokester, this kid. I have to go cook, so I won’t chat anymore! Remember to come to Auntie’s for dinner."
With that, she hurriedly left.
Shen Zihang watched, stunned and dumbfounded, as before it was always his mom who got half-mad from rage.
"Alright! Stop dazing, let’s hurry up and get ready to make dumplings!" Shen Zian gave Shen Zihang a pat, picked up the celery from the ground, and headed home with Shen Zihang in tow.

Xue Hongxing’s wife Sun Fang also received the news and took the initiative to come over and help. With one more person, the speed improved considerably. As dusk approached, familiar voices were heard coming from outside; Shen Zian went out from the living room and instantly saw Shen Feihu leading people here, accompanied by Su Hai, Kong Jie, Xue Hongxing, and Shen Weixing.
Shen Feihu’s arrival didn’t surprise Shen Zian at all; he’s an officer who loves mingling with grassroots. The appearance of Su Er was a bit unexpected though, as Shen Zian used to love ranting about capitalism, having never seen him do any dirty or tiring work from childhood to adulthood.
