Chapter 2074: Chapter 2093: Not a Three-Year-Old
Every year when she went back to her hometown for New Year, she always complained that the people there took advantage of them and bullied them on purpose, saying they were worse than pigs and dogs. Yet she never thought of making good relations with any of them to help her speak up; even her son was smarter than her!
At least her son had Little An to help him, so when they went home for New Year, no one would dare to bully them.
In the end, Zhao Honglian’s problem stemmed from her identity; as a city person, she looked down on rural people in her heart. But rural people also care about dignity and respect; if others look down on you, why would you eagerly try to cozy up to their cold indifference?
So, it was no surprise that the two sisters-in-law teamed up against Zhao Honglian.
What a pity that Zhao Honglian couldn’t foresee this.
Shen Zihang was clapping vigorously, coaxed by Shen Zian, "Cousin, did you send Second Aunt home? Why didn’t you help her this morning to fight my mom?" Despite his young age, he was quite astute and found Shen Zian’s behavior that morning very unusual.
"You used to always help Second Aunt."
Shen Zian needed a reason for her change and pondered before saying, "My mom was too fierce. If I got involved, you all would be doomed. If things got worse, it might even cause Third Uncle to get fired, which wouldn’t be good."
Shen Zihang saw her righteous appearance and doubted, "Really? You weren’t like this before. Who are you trying to fool? I’m not a three-year-old kid."
"Yes! You’re not three." You’re seven.
"It’s like this." Shen Zian put away her smile and corrected her expression, "I used to unite against outsiders. When have I ever been harsh to my own family?" This was the main reason she was willing to take on the burden of this big family.
Despite her family not being the best and each being more annoying than the last, they rarely schemed against their own family. Li Erhua and her sister-in-law were not good people either, often quarreling, but if outsiders dared to bully, the two sisters-in-law would certainly team up against them.
The brothers Shen Haijun and Shen Jiefang were the same. Although they often took advantage of their younger brother Shen Weixing, Shen Weixing was the only one among the three brothers to graduate from high school. In the seventies, having a high school graduate in the family was incredibly rare. Without his older brothers’ sacrifices, it wouldn’t have been possible. Perhaps this is also why the third uncle never complained about being taken advantage of.
All with the surname Shen, their internal conflicts and schemes ultimately led to the family’s destruction.
Shen Zian found it hard to accept, but she had missed ten years, and the seeds of disaster were already sown, beyond her power to resolve. Besides, she deeply detested such a ruined family from within, regretting not having dealt with Shen Ming with a shot back then.
Compared to her own family, the original family seemed wickedly adorable.
They couldn’t even be considered bad!
"Cousin You Ping, what are you thinking about?" Shen Zihang called out twice, his cousin didn’t hear him, so he pulled her sleeve a little.
Shen Zian snapped back to reality. "Nothing!" She gathered herself and turned to see Zhao Honglian’s eyes meet hers.
Zhao Honglian looked embarrassed.
Shen Zian greeted her actively, "Third Aunt, were you looking for me?"
"Yes!" Zhao Honglian nodded quickly, "Second Sister-in-law was sent back by you?"
"Yes! I already called my dad, and my mom was in charge and asked him to inform Third Uncle, so I could be at ease." Shen Zian stood up from the ground, apologetically saying, "The things that happened this morning were all my mom’s fault. Her temper is short, and it can’t change overnight. She doesn’t mean any harm, really. I apologize on her behalf, and I hope Third Aunt won’t be upset."
