Chapter 1781: Chapter 1782: Father and Son
At noon during mealtime, Qi Taiguo held Qi Xiaoqi and took Cheng Su by the hand to find a restaurant by the seaside. Sitting down, the view outside was of the ocean, with the sea breeze blowing in. Though it carried a salty tang, it was still a feast for the eyes.
"Don’t you love eating seafood? This place is known as the City by the Seaside; there’s plenty of seafood that’s especially fresh and sweet. Let’s order a bit more today," Qi Taiguo said to Cheng Su.
Cheng Su nodded with a smile, took a sip of tea, and said, "Then you hold our son, and I’ll go order?"
"Alright!"
"What do you want to eat?" Cheng Su stood up.
"Just order what you like; I eat seafood almost every day and I’m not picky," Qi Taiguo said, holding Qi Xiaoqi.
Cheng Su went to find the owner and saw various seafood kept in large basins, all plump and fresh. Unable to resist, she ordered several types, a vegetable dish, a steamed egg for their son, and half a steamed chicken, which was more than enough.
Returning to the seating area, she saw Qi Taiguo playing with Qi Xiaoqi, tossing him up and down, the child’s giggles carrying far away. She couldn’t help but smile.
She, unlike others, wasn’t worried her son would fall. She trusted Qi Taiguo, but seeing that it was hot, she said, "Don’t play too wildly, you’ll end up drenched in sweat. Drink some water!"
"Oh, your mom says no more playing." Qi Taiguo put their son on his shoulder, walked over, sat down, and placed Qi Xiaoqi on the seat between them.
Cheng Su handed the feeding bottle to their son.
"You just said you eat seafood almost every day? Is the army’s food supply that good?" Cheng Su asked him.
Qi Taiguo poured each of them a cup of tea, saying, "The island is full of fishermen. They go out to sea daily, and the catch is sold and delivered to this city. Our canteen needs meat dishes, so they’re always delivering fish and stuff. Of course, during the fishing off-season, we don’t get as much. During peak season, we have it almost every meal."
"But you still lost weight." Cheng Su looked at his face with a sympathetic look: "You’re as dark as charcoal."
"What can you do by the seaside? The ultraviolet rays are strong, but honestly, being much darker isn’t a big deal. As for being skinny, eating those high-protein foods every day without increasing training would make me gain a lot of fat," Qi Taiguo laughed. "So the training here on the island is a bit tougher than in Qing City."
Cheng Su gave a gentle "Oh" and said, "That’s tough!"
"That’s what I should say to you!" Qi Taiguo’s gaze was very gentle, "With me away, everything falls on your shoulders. Thank you for your hard work."
Cheng Su gave him a playful look but was inwardly sweet, fully accepting his gratitude.
The dishes arrived one after another, the seafood fresh and flavorful. Qi Taiguo personally peeled a large boiled shrimp for her. Cheng Su took a bite, and even without soy sauce, it was bursting with freshness.
Seeing her enjoying it, Qi Taiguo had a pampering look in his eyes and quickly peeled several more.
Steamed egg for Qi Xiaoqi was served as well. Cheng Su didn’t worry about eating for herself, called for a bowl of rice specially pressed into the rice, and started feeding their son, mixing it with the egg custard and blowing it cool mouthful by mouthful before feeding him.
Qi Taiguo saw and said, "You eat, I’ll feed him!"
Cheng Su raised her eyebrows, saw he was eager to try, and passed him the bowl.
This was also Qi Taiguo’s first time feeding his son solid food. At first, he clumsily smeared Xiao Qi’s face, but later got accustomed to it, making Cheng Su laugh but she didn’t take over.
Kidding! Why should she be as clumsy as others, fearing that her husband might not do well in taking care of their child or feeding him properly and thus do it herself? This was building Papa’s enthusiasm for parenting and a great chance for father-son bonding.
See, with him feeding, Cheng Su enjoyed the sweet seafood meal, relaxed and happy.
