Chapter 1778: Chapter 1779: Family Reunion

It was the first time Cheng Su traveled alone with Qi Xiaoqi, and Mother Cheng was extremely worried, reminding them over and over. In the end, she still said, "Why don’t I go with you?"

"Mom, it’s fine. Xiao Qi is already a year old." Cheng Su smiled, cherishing the rare family reunion of the three, knowing that adding another person would make it less free.

Seeing her determination, Mother Cheng had no choice but to relent, handing a red envelope to Qi Xiaoqi: "Wishing our Xiao Qi good health and safety to a hundred years old."

"Hurry and thank Grandma." Cheng Su glanced at her son.

Qi Xiaoqi held the red envelope and looked at his Grandma: "Thanks."

Mother Cheng couldn’t bear to part with her grandson, hugging him tightly and calling him lovingly.

Cheng Su found it amusing, put on a backpack, and then secured Qi Xiaoqi in a front carrier before heading out to catch the bus.

The journey from Guangcheng to Zhu City took three hours. In her previous life, Cheng Su went to Zhu City quite often, although it had already developed well by then. Unlike now, the roadside scenery was nothing but fields.

Cheng Su didn’t forget to introduce the scenery to her son, the two of them chattering all the way. As they entered the boundary of Zhu City, the endless sea unfolded by the roadside.

"Xiao Qi, look, that’s the sea." Cheng Su patted Qi Xiaoqi’s hand, pointing at the azure sky and sea outside.

Qi Xiaoqi turned his head to look out.

It was already July, the car windows were open, and since it was morning, the sea breeze brought a unique salty scent.

Qi Xiaoqi got excited, twisting his little body, wanting to place his hands on the glass window. Cheng Su, worried he might get hurt, had to let him stand on the seat and held him, preventing his hands from grabbing onto anything and getting scraped by passing cars.

"This is Zhu City already. Soon, Dad will come to pick us up. Remember to greet him, okay? Let’s practice, ’Dad...’" Cheng Su coaxed him.

Qi Xiaoqi seemed not to hear, only staring at the sea, eyes unblinking.

Cheng Su tried several times, but there was no response, which made her a bit deflated.

After another half hour, the bus slowly pulled into the station. Cheng Su kept looking out the window, eagerly awaiting.

Where is he?

Qi Taiguo stood outside the bus station, watching the inbound bus. Seeing the one marked Guangcheng-Zhu City, his eyes lit up.

It must be this bus, right?

He stepped forward a few paces, eyes glued to the passenger door, heart pounding fiercely.

They had been apart for half a year.

Living on the island and thinking of them every day, and now that they were about to meet, that expectation and excitement spread through his whole being.

Finally, a slender woman in a floral dress, holding a child, stepped off the bus.

It’s Cheng Su, his woman, his son.

Qi Taiguo pushed through the crowd and rushed over, "Susu!"

Cheng Su was holding Qi Xiaoqi with one hand, fumbling with a backpack she hadn’t had time to put on with the other. Hearing the call, she looked up.

Before she could get a good look, a tall figure ran over swiftly, enveloping her and the child in a hug, spinning them in a circle before setting them down.

Dizzy, Cheng Su steadied herself, looked up at the man before her, teasing with a smile, "Are you trying to make us dizzy?"

Their eyes met, and in each other’s gaze was an uncontainable affection and tenderness, along with the joy and satisfaction of reunion.

"You’ve lost weight, and gotten darker!" Cheng Su’s hand touched his face, tears rolling down.

"So have you, thinner."

Qi Xiaoqi glanced at his parents who were ignoring him, silently turned his gaze away, resting his head on Cheng Su’s shoulder, deciding it was best to pretend he didn’t exist.
