Chapter 501: Chapter 501: Eyesore

"Principal..." Before Tutor Daliu could finish, Principal Shen cut him off.

"That’s enough. Professor Frank is getting impatient. All of you, follow along." With that, Principal Shen got into the car.

Long before Tutor Daliu had even approached, Gu Jiaojiao had already removed her foot from Wei Zhu’s back and settled into her seat in the car.

The principal’s assistant opened the passenger-side door and got in. The moment their doors shut, the driver started the engine and sped away.

"We’ll get in the cars behind," Tutor Daliu told his students, a hint of resentment in his voice.

’This is all Wei Zhu’s fault. If I really can’t go this time, I’ll be utterly humiliated!’ 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮

"I’m so sorry, Tutor. I wasn’t in my right mind and embarrassed you. Please, can I still come along?" Wei Zhu asked pitifully.

She scrambled up from the ground and looked down, brushing the dust from her clothes, not daring to meet her tutor’s eyes.

’How could someone as outstanding as me stand being upstaged by a mere freshman!’

When she saw her tutor didn’t respond, she began to whimper. "Tutor, Principal Shen said we should all follow."

It had to be said, Wei Zhu truly was a top student. Her mind was sharp enough to find the loophole in the principal’s words.

"Fine. You can come along. But remember this for the future: do not provoke the principal again." Tutor Daliu was, in fact, normally quite fond of Wei Zhu.

While she had personality flaws, her academic ability was undeniable.

With Wei Zhu’s knowledge, she could certainly become a clinical physician one day.

But she could never be a surgeon. No one with such a flawed personality could ever become a qualified surgeon.

If Wei Zhu knew this was what her tutor thought of her, she would probably be angry enough to spit blood.

But she didn’t have the Mind Reading Technique, so she couldn’t know her tutor’s thoughts. All she knew was that he had always been very fond of her.

Wei Zhu’s little tantrum was a minor incident. As planned, the motorcade departed from the university in a grand procession.

Her married classmate asked with feigned concern, "Wei Zhu, what did you do to offend Principal Shen?"

Wei Zhu replied haughtily, "I don’t believe I offended the principal at all! He has always been perfectly pleasant to me."

"Then why were you sprawled on the ground?" a male classmate asked curiously.

Wei Zhu: ...

’She wasn’t about to tell her classmates that Gu Jiaojiao had sent her flying with a single kick.’

"Wei Zhu, why did you suddenly run over to the principal?" the married classmate pressed, not letting the matter drop.

’Tutor Daliu is so biased. Even after Wei Zhu offended the principal, he still brought her along. It’s so infuriating.’

"That’s right, Wei Zhu. Why did you run up to the principal? You almost kept our tutor from coming along."

The tutor was also curious. ’What on earth goes on in the mind of a student with such a flawed personality?’

"Tutor, I just wanted to greet Professor Frank. I was rushing and I tripped."

Wei Zhu offered an excuse she didn’t even believe herself. If she had simply tripped, the principal wouldn’t have gotten angry.

But she couldn’t think of a better excuse on the spot. She couldn’t possibly admit she was jealous of Gu Jiaojiao.

’...that she had tried to drag her out of the car, only to be kicked to the ground!’

"Then be more careful next time. Don’t fall again. You, sprawled on the ground like that, damages my reputation," the tutor said sternly.

"HAHA..." The two male classmates and the married female classmate in the car burst out laughing.

Soon, their cars arrived at the hospital entrance. Xia Qiuming himself was there to greet them.

Standing at the hospital entrance, he wore a white lab coat that accentuated his tall, slender frame.

He had healthy, wheat-colored skin and a handsome, resolute face with sharp, well-defined features. His gentle eyes shone with a bright spirit.

The normally serious Xia Qiuming broke into a smile the moment he saw Gu Jiaojiao, and it was a very handsome smile.

Wei Zhu, who had just stepped out of a car further back, stared, completely captivated. Professor Xia was the spitting image of her Prince Charming.

Unfortunately, during his lectures, Professor Xia never so much as glanced her way, let alone called on her to answer a question.

She had been nursing a crush on Professor Xia for years with no success, and she compared every man she met on blind dates to him.

"Wei Zhu, compose yourself," Tutor Daliu warned her sternly, watching her lovesick display with open displeasure. "Professor Xia is not someone you should be having designs on. Stop gawking, you’re embarrassing us."

His own young daughter had also been infatuated with Professor Xia, but he had patiently convinced her to go on blind dates instead.

And while none of those dates had been successful, at least she had listened to him.

’Even we don’t dare to have designs on Professor Xia. What gives Wei Zhu the right? Her good grades? Don’t make me laugh.’

’Professor Xia isn’t just exceptional on his own; his family background is absolutely top-tier.’

’His daughter was a finance major, yet here she was, interning as a junior nurse at the hospital.’

’Her intentions were as plain as day to the whole family.’

The tutor looked up and was so shocked he stumbled, nearly falling over. Standing right next to Professor Xia was his very own daughter.

His twenty-two-year-old daughter, in her blue nurse’s uniform, looked so compatible standing next to Professor Xia in his white lab coat (an absolute eyesore).

"Tutor, what’s wrong?" the married classmate exclaimed. Then she turned on Wei Zhu. "Wei Zhu, have you no shame? Look at you, swooning like that! You scared our tutor half to death!"

"Wei Zhu, if we’d known you were this shameless, Tutor Daliu shouldn’t have brought you along. What an embarrassment," another classmate added.

Wei Zhu was furious enough to spit blood. ’Can’t I even look at Professor Xia? I always just watch him from a distance like this.’

"Don’t blame Miss Wei Zhu. Let’s head inside," the tutor said, his voice betraying a guilty conscience.

"Tutor, you’re just playing favorites with Wei Zhu," the married classmate huffed, stomping her foot.

Up at the front, Gu Jiaojiao called out from a distance in a deliberately gossipy tone, "Professor Xia, looking sharp today! And who is this pretty young lady?"

Her voice was crisp and unusually loud, ensuring everyone in the motorcade could hear. She was doing it on purpose.

Her hearing was astonishingly sharp; she had heard every word of the conversation among Wei Zhu, her tutor, and the other students from the last car.

"On behalf of the entire hospital staff, I extend a warm welcome to Principal Shen, Professor Frank, and all the tutors and students."

Xia Qiuming boomed the welcome with a broad smile, but his eyes were fixed on Gu Jiaojiao.

He lowered his voice and said to her, "Teacher Jiaojiao, don’t tease her. She’s a new intern nurse, Xu Yue. She’s very shy."

"Oho, jumping to her defense already? How would you know she’s shy, Professor Xia?" Gu Jiaojiao grinned like a sly fox.

Xia Qiuming: ...

’How did he know Xu Yue was shy? Because she blushed beet-red every time she tried to speak.’

’He hadn’t paid her much mind at first, other than finding it curious that a finance major was interning as a nurse.’

’But then he figured it wasn’t so strange, since the Xu Family had been doctors for generations. Still, she always blushed when speaking to him, which is how he knew she was shy.’
