Chapter 459: Chapter 459: A Fruitless Search

Old Sir Si clutched his chest, his breathing labored. His eyes bulged.

"Old man, don’t you scare me! Quick, Xiao Wang, call Elder Si’s personal physician right now!" Elder Geng ordered urgently.

"Right away." The middle-aged man, who had been at a complete loss, immediately scrambled to make the call after hearing Elder Geng’s command.

Mr. Li watched Old Sir Si, his heart pounding with anxiety.

He instinctively followed them to the door, wanting to call Gu Jiaojiao back to treat the old man.

But Elder Si’s status was exceptional. If Gu Jiaojiao failed to treat him, the consequences would be dire.

It wasn’t that Mr. Li doubted Gu Jiaojiao’s medical skills. He simply knew that even a Divine Doctor wasn’t an Immortal—there were no guarantees.

Su Shuochi stood outside, holding Gu Jiaojiao’s hand. He heard footsteps; someone was following them.

It wasn’t that he was heartless enough to let a man die. Rather, both Mr. Li and Elder Geng knew his wife was the Divine Doctor Su Gu.

Yet neither of the old men had called them back. To him, that meant Elder Si’s condition couldn’t be too serious. So, Su Shuochi tried to pull Gu Jiaojiao away.

Gu Jiaojiao didn’t move. She looked back at Mr. Li, who was leaning against the doorframe, his gaze fixed on her.

His expression was grim, his brows furrowed. His eyes held an indescribably complex look.

She then looked up at Su Shuochi. His deep eyes were like an undercurrent surging from the ocean floor, as profound as a deep pool of water.

Mr. Li hadn’t asked her to stay, but Su Shuochi was trying to pull her away. Gu Jiaojiao was caught in a dilemma. With her physician’s conscience, she couldn’t simply let someone die.

"Help... me up," Old Sir Si managed to say, pressing his right hand to his chest and extending his left arm.

Elder Geng and the others in the office carefully helped him onto the sofa.

Soon, a middle-aged male doctor and his young assistant rushed out from the room next door.

If Su Shuochi hadn’t pulled Gu Jiaojiao aside, the middle-aged doctor would have nearly crashed into her.

He moved with a sense of urgency, rushing over to ask, "Elder Si, what’s wrong?"

By then, Elder Si had already fallen unconscious and couldn’t answer.

"Get over there and examine him! You’re his personal physician, how could you not know what’s wrong with him?"

A flash of anger crossed Mr. Li’s face as he watched the middle-aged doctor, and his tone hardened.

"Yes, Mr. Li." The doctor didn’t overthink it. He turned to his assistant and ordered, "Get the equipment ready."

With that, the doctor took out the portable instruments he carried and began to examine Elder Si.

"What in the world is wrong with him?" Elder Geng asked anxiously, watching the doctor work.

The doctor shook his head. "Elder Geng, Elder Si has a history of heart disease. He passed out today from the shock. He needs to be taken to the hospital for surgery immediately."

Mr. Li frowned at the doctor. "Can he be moved in this condition? If something were to happen, it would cause an uproar."

"Mr. Li, please don’t get upset. Elder Si must have surgery right away, or he’ll remain unconscious."

Hearing the doctor’s increasingly dire prognosis, Gu Jiaojiao strode forward, grabbed Elder Si’s wrist, and began to take his pulse.

"The patient can’t be moved right now. It would be life-threatening. Besides, he’s not in a suitable condition for immediate surgery."

"Where did this little brat come from? Who do you think you are? Saving a life takes more than just running your mouth," the middle-aged doctor said, furious.

"The patient is in shock, not merely unconscious. Your delays are unacceptable," Gu Jiaojiao stated firmly.

"What the hell do you know? Do you have any idea who he is?" the doctor retorted, annoyed.

Gu Jiaojiao shot him a contemptuous look. "I don’t care who he is. I’m telling you, if you delay any longer..."

"...even the highest Immortals won’t be able to help. You’re Old Sir Si’s personal physician. You see him go into shock, yet instead of providing immediate emergency care..."

"...you have the nerve to stand here arguing with me? Get the hell out of my way."

The doctor sneered. "Little girl, this is no place for you to act high and mighty! You’re a complete nobody spouting nonsense. Get out of here, and stop interfering with the treatment—"

"Interfering with your treatment? Then why haven’t you done anything? To be precise, I’m the only one who can get him through this safely." 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂

Gu Jiaojiao’s voice was firm, her expression remarkably calm. ’It’s his good fortune that he ran into me.’

The doctor scoffed, "Are you saying you can guarantee you’ll save him?"

"Old Sir Si’s condition is complex. An ordinary doctor couldn’t possibly treat it. And surgery? He’d be dead before he even reached the hospital."

The doctor’s voice dropped to an angry roar. "I am Elder Si’s personal physician! As long as he cooperates with my treatment, I can get his condition under control!"

After speaking, he moved to pull away Gu Jiaojiao, who had already taken out her Golden Needles.

"What the hell do you know? You think she’s just some kid? She’s the renowned Divine Doctor Su Gu! Never mind you, even I have to show her the utmost respect!"

Mr. Li, furious, shoved the middle-aged doctor aside.

The middle-aged doctor was speechless. ’...Divine Doctor Su Gu? She’s the one I’ve been dreaming of meeting for ages!’

Si Jingping, who had just rushed over after receiving the call, was also stunned.

’He and his father had been searching high and low for Divine Doctor Su Gu to treat his grandfather. It was a perfect case of ’after searching far and wide, one finds it right under one’s nose’.’

The middle-aged doctor was utterly stunned. He wanted to get a closer look at the Divine Doctor’s technique, but a sharp glare from Si Jingping made him recoil two steps.

Old Sir Si had sunk into a deep coma, but Gu Jiaojiao remained calm. She laid out her Golden Needles and began the treatment.

Several Golden Needles danced in her hands, flying into Elder Si’s various acupoints like a goddess scattering blossoms. The sight was dazzling to all who watched.

Even the laymen who knew nothing of acupuncture were in awe, to say nothing of the middle-aged doctor, who had once claimed to be an heir to a great acupuncture tradition.

"Heavens, to think I’d get to see the Flying Needle Technique in my lifetime... I can die without regrets."

The doctor, a master of traditional Chinese medicine, was an expert in health preservation, so while he looked middle-aged, he was actually nearly seventy years old.

Su Shuochi stood beside his wife, carefully wiping the sweat from her brow. He also used the opportunity to block everyone’s view, the couple sharing a perfect, unspoken understanding.

Gu Jiaojiao discreetly fed Elder Si a mouthful of spiritual spring water. About half an hour later, she removed the Golden Needles, and Elder Si awoke.

He opened his dazed eyes and shot upright with a WHOOSH. "What happened to me?"

"Grandpa, are you feeling uncomfortable anywhere?" Si Jingping rushed forward and asked, excitedly gripping his grandfather’s hand.

How could he not be excited?

A moment ago, his grandfather had looked like he was at death’s door, but after the acupuncture, he was full of life.

"Haha, I feel so light! It’s like my chronic old ailments have vanished completely."

Old Sir Si roared with laughter, as if the attack had never happened.

"Elder Si, do you still feel any pain in your chest?" the master of traditional medicine asked cautiously.

"Not at all. It’s like it never even happened."
