Chapter 448: Chapter 448: The Lin Family Answers the Call to a Brawl

Lin Sisi waited until Gu Jiaojiao was completely out of sight before shaking off Lin Wanwan’s hand. "I don’t need your fake concern."

"Sister, what’s wrong?" Lin Wanwan put on a pitiful expression. To an unknowing observer, she looked like the one being bullied.

"Hmph. All you do is act. I’m going home," Lin Sisi scoffed, then turned and left without a backward glance.

Xu Lin scurried after her. "Sisi, are you mad that I didn’t step in to help you back there?"

"I wasn’t expecting you to fight for me. But you saw her push me down and didn’t even come over to help me up. That’s what I’m mad about."

"Sisi, that shrew scared me stiff! Can’t you please forgive me, just this once?"

"Hmph. Forget it. I don’t have time to argue with you anyway. I’m going home to get my older brother and my mom to go to Hualin Road and beat up that caregiver."

"Sisi, I know a few thugs. Should I have them come along?"

"Thugs? But what if they actually beat that caregiver to death?" Lin Sisi despised Gu Jiaojiao, but she had no desire to go to prison.

"They’re just hired muscle. They do the job for money. They won’t rat on us," Xu Lin said cautiously.

She despised Gu Jiaojiao. The chance to use Lin Sisi to get rid of Gu Jiaojiao... ’The mere thought is thrilling,’ she thought.

As for the consequences? ’As long as it has nothing to do with me, it’s fine.’

’Whether the thugs rat anyone out isn’t my problem. In fact, I’ve been wanting to see those guys end up in jail for a while now.’

"Really? Then go contact a few of them. Just tell me how much it costs."

"Okay, I’ll have three of them meet you at the gate to the Lin Family’s courtyard," Xu Lin said, her voice trembling with excitement.

"Okay, have them wait for me at the gate to the Lin Family courtyard. I’m going home now to get my older brother." With that, Lin Sisi left.

In truth, the people Xu Lin mentioned weren’t thugs at all. They were just some young men from the rural village where the Xu Family had been relocated.

They had always been infatuated with Xu Lin, and they used to do all of her farm chores for her.

To get out of doing farm work, Xu Lin had pretended to be dating one of them, and the young man had treated her with nothing but sincerity.

Xu Lin, however, had never taken any of them seriously and had simply wrapped them around her little finger.

Later, the Xu Family returned to the Imperial City. Three years ago, Xu Lin was accepted into Imperial University and had long since forgotten about her "boyfriend" from the countryside.

But now, four years later, those boys had grown into tall young men, and they had actually traveled together all the way to Imperial University to find her.

Xu Lin didn’t dare let her family find out about this, especially since she had recently offended her maternal grandfather’s side of the family.

With no one to back her up, she had originally considered swallowing her pride and asking her cousin, Han Jingyi, for help.

Now, she could palm them off on her "good friend" Lin Sisi. ’And if Gu Jiaojiao beats them to death, all the better.’

And so, Xu Lin excitedly ran to the school gate to find those young men from the countryside...

Word of the fight between Lin Sisi and Gu Jiaojiao never reached the teachers’ ears.

However, it caused a massive stir throughout the student body. Everyone was talking about it.

The female student on the assembly stage today wasn’t just fluent in a foreign language; she could also knock over a senior with a single finger.

Everyone was secretly gossiping about it with great relish, and just like that, Gu Jiaojiao’s name became famous throughout Imperial University.

Many students who had never met her became her instant fans, while those who already considered her an enemy only grew more hostile.

As a result, every class split into two factions: those who supported Gu Jiaojiao and those who were jealous of her. With opposition came conflict.

As soon as classes ended, the students would automatically separate into their two camps to debate one another. But that is a story for another time.

Meanwhile, at the Lin Family estate, Lin Sisi arrived home in tears, announcing that she had found the caregiver at school.

She knew that for the past few days, the Lin Family matriarch, acting on the Old Master’s orders, had been searching for that very caregiver, but to no avail.

If Gu Jiaojiao hadn’t made an appearance on stage today, Lin Sisi would never have found her.

So, upon returning home, Lin Sisi went to her eldest aunt and told her an embellished story. She said that she had found the caregiver and tried to invite her to be a guest at the Lin Family home.

But the caregiver, not knowing what was good for her, had openly scoffed, "Who does the Lin Family think they are to invite me?!"

And if they wanted to meet, they’d have to go to Hualin Road.

The Lin Family’s Old Master was so enraged that he immediately ordered the family’s descendants to take fifty people and go meet her.

And so, Lin Sisi became the hero who helped her aunt, the family matriarch, find the "culprit" caregiver. Aunt Lin was immensely grateful.

She promised Lin Sisi that after they dealt with the caregiver, she would give her a new set of clothes.

Lin Sisi was moved to tears—of excitement. Soon, she would get to see Gu Jiaojiao beaten to death by the Lin Family.

The Lin Family’s Old Master had spoken. So, as soon as everyone in the family got home from work, they didn’t even stop to eat before taking all five of the family’s cars and heading out.

Third Aunt Lin’s family of five led the charge, piling into the first car. As the family matriarch, Aunt Lin brought up the rear, riding in the last vehicle.

The Lin Family’s eldest and second sons hadn’t gotten off work yet, but the family’s butler, the cleaning staff, and even the head chef all went along for the confrontation.

Lin Wanwan and her mother, however, did not go. Since her father and two older brothers were still at work, there would be no one to protect them in a brawl.

The Lin Family’s Old Master and the current Family Head didn’t go either. The Old Master was too old.

The Family Head, for his part, had always disliked violence. He much preferred the elegant pursuits of romance and art, composing poetry and lyrics.

As Lin Sisi sat in the car, she looked out and saw three hulking, bear-like young men standing right at their courtyard gate.

"Dad, Mom, those are the thugs my friend called over. Should we take them with us?"

Lin Sisi asked her parents meekly, though ’in her heart she believed these three alone would be enough to cripple Gu Jiaojiao.’

Third Aunt Lin thought the same, but Uncle Lin was more hesitant. When they taught someone a lesson themselves, they knew their limits.

If they brought thugs along, things could turn deadly.

He was just about to refuse when his son shouted, "Stop the car! Bring them with us! That broad is a hell of a fighter."

So, Uncle Lin had no choice but to get out of the car and invite the three young men to squeeze into the family’s sedans.

The three young men had no idea where they were going or why, but they were following the instructions of their "goddess."

Their goddess had told them that if they just came to the gate of the Lin Family’s courtyard, someone would arrange for them to live in the city, with all their food, drink, and lodging provided for.

’Oh my god, it’s actually true!’ they thought. ’This wealthy family took one look at us and invited us into their cars.’

’And to think we suspected our goddess was trying to trick us.’ For the past few days, she had been constantly avoiding them.

They had spent all the money they’d brought with them on a gift for her, so they were practically broke. Eating in the city was expensive...

...let alone finding a place to stay. They had been sleeping under an overpass every night.

Aunt Lin’s eldest daughter had just gotten divorced and was living at home. Her son had already been sent back to the Geng Family, and she didn’t want her daughter to leave the Lin home again.

Aunt Lin wanted to find a live-in husband for her daughter. The Lin Family was large and prosperous, and besides her daughter, she only had a ten-year-old son to rely on.

When she saw the sturdy young man in the car, she asked in an exceptionally warm tone, "Young man, do you have a girlfriend?"
