Chapter 396: Chapter 396: A Stunning Glimpse

By the time Gu Jiaojiao found out about the Wang Family’s situation, several days had already passed. She could only sigh at how pedantic the father and son were.

Early on Sunday morning, Gu Jiaojiao woke up naturally. The first thing she saw upon opening her eyes was a handsome face.

"You’re awake, honey?" Su Shuochi asked awkwardly. He had been staring at her, completely captivated, and was momentarily embarrassed to be caught.

"You were awake? Why didn’t you wake me?"

"I was just leaning over to wake you. Who knew you’d wake up on your own."

Gu Jiaojiao: ...

She lifted her wrist to check her watch. It was only six-thirty. ’Guess he knows his limits,’ she thought.

"Honey, I’ll go make breakfast for you. You can take your time washing up and putting on your makeup."

Su Shuochi gave Gu Jiaojiao a light kiss on the forehead, then quickly got out of bed to go make breakfast.

Gu Jiaojiao washed up, put on a wavy, chestnut-colored wig, and then applied some light, mature-looking makeup.

She bronzed her skin, giving her the simple and natural charm of a mature woman, making it impossible to guess her specific age.

She wore a white cotton T-shirt, a pair of light-colored, stretch-skinny jeans, and on her feet, a pair of classic white sneakers—a style that would become wildly popular years later.

When Gu Jiaojiao came downstairs, Su Shuochi had already finished making breakfast. It hadn’t taken him long, but it was a rich and nutritionally balanced meal.

There were pre-made dumplings in their fridge that just needed to be boiled; he had pan-fried two steaks, boiled two eggs, and made a glass of hand-ground soy milk for each of them.

"Wow, this is all my favorite food! Su Shuochi, you’re so fast," Gu Jiaojiao praised with a beaming smile.

"As long as you like it." Su Shuochi’s voice was even, but Gu Jiaojiao could still feel how happy he was.

"Honey, this look really makes it hard to tell your age," Su Shuochi said, pushing the cut steak in front of Gu Jiaojiao.

"That’s the point. I don’t want people to know my real age. If I look too young, they won’t take me seriously, and I don’t want to look too old."

"Haha, you... I thought you were going to disguise yourself as an old lady!" Su Shuochi teased as he attended to his wife’s breakfast.

"I did consider dressing up as an old lady, but then I remembered I’d have to hunch over, which would be inconvenient for performing surgery."

"In that case, it seems you and I are quite in sync," Su Shuochi said with a smug smile.

"If a married couple isn’t in sync, then what’s the point of being married!" Gu Jiaojiao shot the man a playful glare.

"Haha, that’s a good point."

"Stop with all this nonsense and hurry up and eat. I’m putting the motorcycle into my space. We’ll take your car, and I’ll switch to the motorcycle once we’re somewhere deserted."

"Jiaojiao, are you saying our courtyard is already being watched?" Su Shuochi asked in surprise.

Gu Jiaojiao looked up at the man, her expression serious. She swallowed the food in her mouth and said gravely.

"We can’t rule out the possibility. It’s always better to be careful. If there’s a problem, we fix it. If not, we remain vigilant."

Even though Su Shuochi had been talking, he ate much faster than Gu Jiaojiao. They both put down their bowls at the same time.

While Su Shuochi was washing the dishes, Gu Jiaojiao went upstairs. She stood on the balcony for a moment, then came back down and quickly got into the car.

After washing the dishes, Su Shuochi locked the door, deliberately making a bit of noise as he closed it. Then, he got into the car by himself, started the engine, and drove off.

From his hiding spot, even Mu Shan didn’t see Gu Jiaojiao get in the car, to say nothing of the enemy’s spies...

On the wide asphalt road, an engine roared as a brand-new motorcycle sped past like a bolt of lightning.

The rider sat with a straight, commanding posture, their speed soaring. The motorcycle drifted through a curve, looking just like a flash of lightning.

This cool maneuver caught the attention of many pedestrians, and lots of people couldn’t help but stop and watch.

Whether they were driving cars, riding motorcycles themselves, or pedaling bicycles, all eyes followed that figure.

The rider wore a helmet, making it impossible to tell if they were male or female. They straddled the brand-new motorcycle, hands in gloves, gripping the handlebars.

As the morning wind whipped by, the motorcycle carved a graceful line down the highway.

"Whoa, who is that? So stylish!" a couple exclaimed, snapping a photo of the stunning glimpse with their camera.

Su Shuochi’s gaze was also glued to that figure. That was his darling wife.

Han Jingyi was driving Xiao Rui and a few other grandchildren from the Xiao and Han families to the hospital to visit their grandaunt.

Since it was Sunday, many of them didn’t have to work, and they happened to have brought their cameras.

Xiao Rui’s older cousin quickly snapped a picture of the stunning silhouette. "Tsk tsk, my god, my photography skills have never been this good."

"Cousin, let me take a few shots!" Xiao Rui said excitedly, trying to grab the camera.

CLICK. CLICK. He took several shots in quick succession. "Han Jingyi, isn’t that our aunt’s husband over there?"

After saying that, Xiao Rui quickly snapped two more shots. CLICK. CLICK. "I just saw our aunt’s husband staring dazedly at every rider passing by."

"What’s so strange about that? He’s just admiring the rider’s skill. You can’t even tell if the person on the motorcycle is a man or a woman."

"Hehe, you have a point, cousin. I guess I was overthinking it," Xiao Rui said sheepishly.

At eight-thirty, Gu Jiaojiao arrived at the hospital entrance right on time. She showed her work ID and entered the hospital without any obstruction.

The hospital director, Xia Qiuming, ten elite surgeons, sixteen students, and a few school administrators were already lined up in the lobby, waiting.

"Reporting to the deans, Divine Doctor Su Gu has arrived at the entrance," a security guard announced, rushing over to the head dean and Vice Director Xia.

"Show her in, quickly!" the dean said, unable to contain his excitement.

"Reporting to the Dean, Divine Doctor Su Shuo has arrived in the lobby," another security guard came to report.

When the guard finished speaking, everyone turned to look and saw a young, fashionably dressed woman at the entrance to the lobby.

She wore a pair of oversized sunglasses that hid most of her face, and she walked gracefully toward the crowd.

She drew closer and closer. They couldn’t hear any footsteps, yet with every step the woman took,

it was as if she were stepping on their very heartstrings, making their hearts tremble along with her.

The newcomer had wavy, chestnut-colored hair cascading over her shoulders. Her bronzed skin glowed. From a distance, she looked eighteen, but up close, she seemed more like twenty-eight.

"Divine Doctor Su Gu, you’re perfectly on time. Eight-thirty on the dot, not a minute early, not a second late," Xia Qiuming said with a touch of witty humor as he stepped forward to greet her.

His tone was neither too familiar nor too distant. "This is our Dean Fu, and this is Divine Doctor Su Gu."

"Aun— Divine Doctor Su, I have long admired your esteemed reputation. It is my great fortune to finally meet you today," Dean Xiao said, bowing respectfully.

He had wanted to call her "Auntie" but was afraid of being too forward.

He was the most outstanding man from a side branch of the Xiao Family, the eldest son of Mr. Xiao’s second, younger half-brother.

Therefore, he also knew that his uncle, Elder Xiao, and Divine Doctor Su Gu were sworn siblings.

His name was Xiao Zengang. His grandmother and father had been sent away to Hong Kong City long ago by the old Master Xiao.

He had studied abroad in many countries and was an outstanding brain specialist. Two years ago, his father had sent Xiao Zengang back to seek out his elder brother.

A year ago, thanks to his genuine skills and his connection to Elder Xiao, he became the dean of the People’s Hospital.
