Chapter 381: Chapter 381: A Fight

"Ah!" Jiang Ruyan’s shriek drew the attention of many students on the athletic field, who quickly started to gather around them.

"Hey, what was that line you just said? Even I couldn’t have come up with something like that. And you just casually break someone’s finger? You’re way too arrogant."

The speaker was a young man in a white shirt, blue jeans, and a pair of white canvas sneakers.

This young man was none other than Shen Ling, a junior. He had been close to Gu Jiaojiao’s group, so he was the first to arrive.

Thanks to his powerful family background, he bullied people frequently and was known as the school’s resident demon.

Although he only ever bullied unscrupulous people, he couldn’t be bothered to explain himself, so nobody knew the truth.

All anyone knew was that his clique bullied people indiscriminately, male or female.

Gu Jiaojiao’s eyes were as cold as ice. Seeing students closing in from all sides, she was just about to speak.

But then she heard a student shout, "Oh my god, where did this immortal maiden come from? Daring to break a senior’s finger... I totally worship you!"

"Seriously, look closer! She looks just like one of the Seven Immortal Maidens from *Heavenly Fairy Match*."

"Oh my god, one of the Seven Immortal Maidens walked right out of the movie and onto our campus! Am I dreaming?"

The guys who spoke up were Shen Ling’s lackeys. Seeing that their boss had taken an interest in the "immortal" student, they astutely started hyping her up.

The other students just stood around watching, neither helping Jiang Ruyan nor criticizing Gu Jiaojiao.

Jiang Ruyan’s public image at school was that of a beautiful, kind-hearted girl, and she had a large following of admirers.

But right now, none of her admirers dared to directly confront Shen Ling.

A few of them could only glare fiercely at Gu Jiaojiao, but they didn’t dare step forward to defend Jiang Ruyan.

Xi Siya, standing beside Jiang Ruyan, recognized Gu Jiaojiao after a quick look.

’Gu Jiaojiao, you’ve shunned the easy path and chosen to walk straight into hell. You can’t blame me for what happens next,’ she thought resentfully.

She scoffed and said loudly, "You guys worship her? Do you really think she looks like an immortal?"

With that, she turned to Gu Jiaojiao. "Do you guys even know her? She’s already married at her age, and to a disabled husband! Ha ha..."

Xi Siya was wearing a pink dress and light makeup today.

Though her features were what one might call delicate, her current expression made her utterly detestable.

"Watch your mouth," Shen Ling immediately warned.

It wasn’t that he particularly admired Gu Jiaojiao; he just hated it when people looked down on the disabled.

His own cousin, Mu Ziquan, was disabled now, but he had once been a true prodigy.

So he said nonchalantly, "And why shouldn’t she be an immortal?

She has the aura of an immortal, one that makes you want to bow down in worship. In fact, I’d kneel and worship her right now.

Heh heh, I’m just speaking the truth. What do you all think, am I right or am I right?"

"Yeah! If he says she is, then she’s definitely an immortal!" Xiao Rui immediately chimed in loudly.

"Anyone who dares disrespect an immortal deserves a beating! Stop your caterwauling, it’s annoying."

Neither he nor Han Jingyi knew Shen Ling, but supporting their boss was their undeniable duty.

Seeing others chime in, the rest of the students also began to chatter amongst themselves. "Who’s the crybaby? Anyone know what class she’s in?"

"I recognize her. She’s from the Jiang Family. I heard she’s getting married off to some guy older than her own father."

Jiang Ruyan hated nothing more than people talking about her marrying an old man. Forgetting the pain in her finger, she started crying and pushed her way out of the crowd.

"Sob... You’re all ganging up on me! I’m telling a professor! This student broke my finger for no reason!"

The students automatically parted to let Jiang Ruyan pass, and her admirers followed her to go report to the professors.

Gu Jiaojiao had no intention of stopping her. She wasn’t afraid of Jiang Ruyan running to tattle; after all, her finger wasn’t actually broken.

When Xi Siya saw Jiang Ruyan leave, she also tried to slip away, but Shen Ling blocked her path and warned her with a cold sneer.

"Listen up. If you dare say another disrespectful word about our immortal classmate, I’ll break your damn legs. Got it?"

Xi Siya’s companions were so frightened they clapped their hands over their mouths and quickly took a step back, trying to distance themselves from her.

They all knew Shen Ling was a ruthless person who always followed through on his threats. No one dared to cross him.

Shen Ling paid the cowards no mind, his gaze landing back on Xi Siya. "You just said her husband is disabled?"

"Yes, yes! I know her! I’m from Qing City, too. I’m not lying!" Xi Siya answered hastily.

Terrified she’d be punished by the "demon" if she answered too slowly, she was already scared out of her wits and wanted nothing more than to burst into tears and run away.

Gu Jiaojiao snorted. "What’s wrong with being disabled? Is it any of your business? Or do you not want that tongue of yours anymore?"

Shen Ling: ’...What kind of bizarre line was that? How refreshing!’

After speaking, Gu Jiaojiao produced a packet of salt from her interdimensional space, though to everyone else, it looked like she had just pulled it from her small shoulder bag.

She hooked Xi Siya’s jaw with her index finger and, without another word, shoved the salt into her mouth.

An overwhelmingly salty taste instantly flooded Xi Siya’s mouth.

Gu Jiaojiao had actually emptied the entire packet of salt into Xi Siya’s mouth. She despised it when anyone called Su Shuochi disabled.

Even though Su Shuochi had been disabled, she couldn’t stand anyone speaking ill of him.

When it came to being fiercely protective, no one in the world could hold a candle to Gu Jiaojiao.

Gu Jiaojiao patiently made sure Xi Siya had swallowed all the salt before finally letting her go.

Once released, Xi Siya immediately doubled over and ran to a nearby trash can, retching violently.

Unfortunately, the salt had already dissolved in her mouth, and she couldn’t vomit it back up.

After what felt like an eternity, Xi Siya finally looked up at Gu Jiaojiao, her eyes red, and screamed, "Gu Jiaojiao, you bitch! How dare you force-feed me all that salt!"

"Xi Siya, have you never seen a pig’s tongue being cured? You need to use a lot of salt, or else the rank taste is too strong and it won’t be any good."

"You... I won’t let you get away with this," Xi Siya stammered as she backed away, not daring to stay there a moment longer.

"Hmph. As if I’d let *you* go. Anyone can talk tough. Just remember to make a wide detour whenever you see me from now on."

With that, Gu Jiaojiao swung her arms and swaggered away as if she didn’t have a care in the world.

Han Jingyi and Xiao Rui finally pushed through the crowd to flank Gu Jiaojiao, following her as she swept away.

Shen Ling’s cronies were dumbfounded. "Ling, are all the freshmen this badass now?"

"Yeah, aren’t they even going to come pay their respects? And here I had my lines all prepared."

"I mean, come on, our man Ling helped her out. Why didn’t she at least come over and say thanks?"
