Chapter 377: Chapter 377: Killing and Condemning the Heart
Mu Ziquan wasn’t happy about his aunt trying to defend him. Her interference only put him in a more passive position.
He was just considering how to continue the conversation with Lin Yu when he heard the man launch into a self-important speech.
"Grandpa and my cousin aren’t mad, so what’s my future mother-in-law getting so worked up about? I was just speaking the truth.
I genuinely don’t see him making it in the business world. It would be better to have Grandpa contact your old superiors and arrange a cushy, unimportant desk job for my cousin.
After all, my cousin only lost the use of his legs. His brain and hands are fine, so he can still write documents or something."
Lin Yu spoke as if he had Mu Ziquan’s best interests at heart, but his actions could only be described as a fate worse than death—designed not just to kill, but to crush the spirit.
He knew Mu Ziquan had fallen from grace, becoming a cripple who was worse off than even an ordinary person.
He had come today specifically to crush Mu Ziquan. Their goal was to make him sink into such a deep despair that he would never recover.
What Lin Yu didn’t know, however, was that there was hope for Mu Ziquan’s legs. He would be able to stand again.
Moreover, Mu Ziquan now had someone he wanted to protect. He was no longer the prickly person he used to be, who would fly into a rage at the slightest provocation.
Therefore, Lin Yu’s soul-crushing words couldn’t harm him. Besides, the Poisonous Gu in his body had already been cleansed, so he couldn’t be goaded into a mad rage.
But Mu Ziquan was no pushover. Lin Yu’s behavior seemed to make him realize something.
In an instant, his eyes widened as if they would split, revealing a terrifying, violent fury.
"Ah! Stop talking! My grandfather and I adhere to strict principles, and you’re actually egging us on to pull strings?
Do you, a complete stranger, also think that because I’ve fallen from a genius to a worthless cripple, the fall is so great that I should just stay depressed for the rest of my life?
Get out! All of you! Don’t you dare come to my house and spout this nonsense again! Get out! Get out! Get out..."
As Mu Ziquan spoke, he began smashing the cups on the coffee table. His wheelchair was quite agile, but he couldn’t bear to destroy too many of his family’s things.
So he pretended his wheelchair was stuck, limiting his range of motion to the area right beside the coffee table.
He deliberately smashed a couple of teacups on the floor, the piercing sound stunning Lin Yu.
With bloodshot eyes, Mu Ziquan roared and cursed. The look he shot Lin Yu radiated an evil power.
It was as if that gaze could drag him into a dark and sinister abyss, a malevolent force that sent a chill down his spine.
He wasn’t just an ordinary businessman, after all. A sinister glint flashed in his eyes as he sat on the sofa and calmly caught a few of the cups.
But Mu Ziquan’s attack—born of eye-splitting, terrifying, violent rage—was not something he could withstand.
Then Mu Ziquan hurled another cup from the coffee table at Lin Yu, each one landing with enough force to break a rib...
Lin Yu howled in pain like a stuck pig. Helpless against a madman, he looked up, seeking help.
But Mr. Mu merely looked stunned. Mu Qingtong was genuinely frozen in fear—no acting required.
As for Wang Yuting, she was so frightened she wet herself. The acrid smell of urine spread across the sofa, and Lin Yu waved a hand in front of his nose in disgust.
Mu Ziquan seized the opportunity to hurl another teacup, dislocating the man’s hand.
"Cou— Is he insane?" Lin Yu couldn’t bring himself to finish calling him ’cousin’. A sinister glint flashed in his eyes.
He stared coldly at Wang Yuting and demanded an answer, but she was completely numb, showing no reaction at all.
Frustrated to the point of madness by her stupidity, Lin Yu could only endure the excruciating pain, abandon Wang Yuting, and leave without a backward glance.
Wang Yuting watched his retreating back, a venomous light in her eyes. She recalled the scene from a few days ago when the Mu Family’s bodyguards had thrown her out.
She had to take advantage of the fact that the old geezer and that stupid adoptive mother were still dazed. She scrambled to her feet and ran for the door. Without orders from their master, the bodyguards didn’t stop her.
Mr. Mu gave the bodyguards a look, signaling them to help his daughter upstairs to rest. "Ziquan, why did you injure Lin Yu?"
"This Lin Yu is highly suspicious. No matter what, it’s better that I injure him first. My surgery is in five days; this should reduce some of the risk."
"Mm, what you did makes perfect sense, Ziquan. I’ll call the Han family and tell them what happened today."
It was destined to be another restless night.
But Gu Jiaojiao slept soundly, not waking up until Su Shuochi roused her at seven-thirty the next morning.
"You’re so annoying! Are you ever going to let a person get a good night’s sleep!" she grumbled, rubbing her drowsy eyes and taking her temper out on the handsome face before her.
"There, there, darling. Time to get up, eat breakfast, and head to school. It’s already seven-thirty."
Su Shuochi beamed as he gazed at his precious wife, his eyes filled with contentment and adoration.
"What?! What time is it?" Gu Jiaojiao cried out. Then, remembering last night, she shot Su Shuochi a harsh glare.
"Oh no, I’m going to be late..." She hastily jumped out of bed, only to stumble dramatically right into his arms.
Su Shuochi was about to carry her into the bathroom to get ready when, in the blink of an eye, she vanished.
Ten minutes later, she emerged from her personal dimension feeling refreshed and looking immaculate, then walked out of the bedroom.
Downstairs, she walked to the dining table and complained to her husband, who was ladling porridge, "Su Shuochi, why didn’t you wake me up earlier? I’m so late!"
"Don’t be mad, honey. I was just worried you hadn’t gotten enough sleep. It’s all my fault."
Su Shuochi handed her a bowl of porridge, dotingly coaxing his wife.
Gu Jiaojiao rolled her eyes at him, took the spoon, and began to quickly gulp down the porridge.
"Slow down, no one’s going to steal it from you," Su Shuochi said, unable to help but shake his head with a soft chuckle.
"I can’t... I have to eat fast, or I’ll be late for class," she said between bites.
Hearing this, Su Shuochi’s smile grew even wider. He slid a plate of pan-fried dumplings in front of Gu Jiaojiao. "So my Jiaojiao isn’t angry anymore?"
"Hmph! I can’t be bothered to bicker with you," Gu Jiaojiao snorted, continuing to eat her porridge and dumplings.
After breakfast, Su Shuochi didn’t even bother with the dishes before walking Gu Jiaojiao to school. At this time of day, walking was faster than driving.
"I can go to school by myself; you don’t have to walk me. Go clean up the dishes and take care of your own business."
Just as Gu Jiaojiao finished speaking, Su Shuochi spotted Han Jingyi and Xiao Rui at the corner. "Alright then, be careful on your way."
Su Shuochi returned to clean up the dishes, feeling at ease. He actually had a lot to do, but he was more than willing to take care of his wife.
Han Jingyi and Xiao Rui flanked Gu Jiaojiao as they walked. "Milady, my grandfather asked me to tell you something."
Han Jingyi rattled on, telling Gu Jiaojiao everything that had happened with Lin Yu at the Mu Family’s home.
Normally, a student like him wouldn’t have access to this kind of information. This time, his older cousin had asked him to pass the message to Gu Jiaojiao.
He assumed Gu Jiaojiao didn’t know his formidable older cousin, so he claimed the message was from his grandfather instead.
After listening, Gu Jiaojiao blurted out, "Holy hell, Wang Yuting actually knows someone from a spy organization?"
"What? That Lin Yu is actually..." Han Jingyi clamped a hand over his mouth, stopping himself from finishing the sentence.
