Chapter 367: Chapter 367: Meeting Fu Mingyue Again
"Why can’t they go back to the Fu family estate?" Su Shuochi asked casually as he dialed a phone number.
He was as straightforward as they come, and Gu Jiaojiao was the only one who could make his heart skip a beat. As a result, he had no idea how terrifying a woman’s jealousy could be.
Gu Jiaojiao shook her head and cautioned Su Shuochi and Fu Junyuan, "You two must remember something.
When it comes to someone you don’t love, either don’t get involved at all, or if you do, don’t fail them.
When a woman’s love turns to hate, she’ll go mad and plunge you into a hell you can never escape."
Fu Junyuan nodded in agreement. Ever since he was a child, he’d witnessed his second aunt’s jealousy toward his mother, constantly trying to undermine her with petty tricks.
But his mom was very clever. She never fell for the traps and didn’t even consider his second aunt a worthy opponent.
That was the root of his second aunt’s hatred for him and his siblings after their mother passed away.
Su Shuochi didn’t quite get it, but he knew listening to his girl was always the right move. "I never get involved with other women," he said.
The three of them were so absorbed in their conversation that they didn’t notice Mu Ziquan’s bodyguard walk into the room. "Ma’am, are you ready?"
"Yes, all set. We were just waiting for you. Let’s go." Gu Jiaojiao said her goodbyes to Su Shuochi and Fu Junyuan, then followed the bodyguard out.
When Fu Junyuan ran outside, he was surprised to see a truly one-of-a-kind car parked in Su Shuochi’s yard.
He stared at it, but for the life of him, he couldn’t identify the make. And this was coming from a massive car enthusiast.
"Su, do you know what brand this car is?"
"It’s a model that just came off the factory line. Your sister-in-law and I had it modified to our specifications."
"No wonder I didn’t recognize it. Su, I like to think I know a thing or two about cars, and I’d just about concluded it had to be a custom job. I’ve never seen a model like this before."
"Of course you haven’t. Come on, I’ll take you for a test drive. We can also head to the outskirts of the city and see if there’s any suitable land for sale to build a factory on."
"You’re planning on buying land, Su?"
"Yeah, I want to buy land and build a factory. Did you find the people I asked you to look for last time?"
"They’re all lined up. We’re just waiting on your instructions, Su."
"Let’s go. We’ll go look at the land and check in on those people at the same time."
"Su, can I drive?"
"You can drive it on the way back," Su Shuochi said generously.
...
Gu Jiaojiao got into Mu Ziquan’s car. Uncharacteristically, Mu Ziquan, who was usually a man of few words, chattered nonstop the entire way.
’He must be this happy because there’s finally some hope for his legs,’ Gu Jiaojiao thought.
She didn’t overthink it. In fact, she listened with great interest and would occasionally ask a question, which only encouraged Mu Ziquan to talk with even more gusto.
This left the Mu family’s driver and two bodyguards stunned. They didn’t say a word, but they were all thinking the same thing: ’We have to tell Old Mu about this as soon as we get back.’
Gu Jiaojiao truly didn’t realize that Mu Ziquan was being so talkative because he wanted to share his past with her.
Mu Ziquan didn’t cross any lines. He only spoke of his past.
’A kid who struggled through such hard times and still came out so driven truly deserves respect.’
Listening to his story, Gu Jiaojiao was deeply moved. Even though Mu Ziquan was technically her junior...
...she wasn’t about to foolishly pity him. Her feelings were closer to respect. ’Men don’t need pity, after all.’
Her attitude touched him deeply. He clenched his fists, struggling to calm his wildly pounding heart.
A wave of powerful emotion and a strange fluttering sensation made his heart feel like it was being torn apart, yet his expression remained perfectly calm.
Gu Jiaojiao was completely oblivious, even turning to look at him, wondering why he’d gone silent.
"Goodness, has it been an hour already? We’re already at the hospital entrance. Come help your master get out."
"Right away, Ma’am. Master, we’ll help you out." The two bodyguards then helped Mu Ziquan into his wheelchair.
After getting out of the car, Gu Jiaojiao took the handles of Mu Ziquan’s wheelchair and began pushing him toward the hospital.
"Mu Ziquan, are you feeling unwell? Was it from talking for so long?" Gu Jiaojiao asked with concern.
It was only then that she realized Mu Ziquan hadn’t said a word since they arrived at the hospital entrance.
"I’m fine, just a little tired. I want to rest for a bit." Mu Ziquan didn’t want to admit he had an aversion to hospitals.
Mu Ziquan had made an appointment with Xia Qiuming the day before, so he didn’t need to register or wait in line and could go straight to the diagnostics department.
From a distance, Gu Jiaojiao could see Fu Mingyue standing in the corridor, holding a cup and chatting with Jiang Ruyan’s mother about her daughter’s wedding date.
Jiang Ruyan’s mother wore a deep purple dress under her white doctor’s coat, and her face was beaming with happiness.
They weren’t speaking loudly, but Gu Jiaojiao’s hearing was exceptionally sharp, so she couldn’t help but overhear.
She had to push Mu Ziquan right past where they were standing. ’Maybe those two won’t recognize me,’ she thought hopefully.
"Well, well, if it isn’t the country mutt we saw at the Mu Family home yesterday?" Fu Mingyue said to Jiang Ruyan’s mother, not bothering to lower her voice.
She was saying it loud enough for Gu Jiaojiao to hear on purpose. After all, they had been thoroughly humiliated after being thrown out of the Mu Family’s home the day before.
"Mutt? Who are you calling a mutt?" Gu Jiaojiao demanded, striding forward with the wheelchair.
"I’m talking about you! Ha! It’s so obvious, and you don’t even realize it?" Fu Mingyue cackled arrogantly.
"Oh, so it’s a mutt who’s talking about me!" Gu Jiaojiao’s retort made a few passing nurses snicker.
"What nonsense are you spouting, you wretched girl? I’m calling you a mutt! What right does a mutt like you have to be in our hospital?"
Fu Mingyue cursed, flying into a rage. Her still-elegant face was twisted in a hideous expression. She had also completely forgotten that Mu Ziquan was right there.
"Get out of the way. Don’t good dogs know not to block the path? Or do you own this hospital?" Gu Jiaojiao’s face instantly turned cold, but she restrained herself from laying a hand on her.
"You little tramp, what makes you think you’re worthy of setting foot in this hospital?" Jiang Ruyan’s mother sneered, shooting Gu Jiaojiao a contemptuous glare.
"And why can’t I be here?" Gu Jiaojiao asked, her patience wearing thin.
"Because..." Fu Mingyue’s tone shifted, and she let out a cold snort. "You’re a mutt."
"Damn you! Your whole family is a pack of mutts!" Gu Jiaojiao rolled up her sleeves, looking ready to throw down.
"Jiaojiao, don’t dirty your hands on her. Both of them have just been fired from the hospital," an ice-cold voice said from the wheelchair.
"Zi-Ziquan... I haven’t done anything to offend you," Jiang Ruyan’s mother stammered, trembling like a coward.
"Don’t be afraid of him. Even Old Mu himself doesn’t have the authority to fire us," Fu Mingyue declared, her arrogant bravado returning in full force.
She was relying on her status as a daughter-in-law of the Xia family and the fact that one of her sisters-in-law was from the Xiao Family. That was why she wasn’t the least bit afraid.
"Jiao— Ziquan, what’s going on here?" Suddenly, Xia Qiuming’s voice cut in.
Hearing Xia Qiuming’s voice, Fu Mingyue froze. She and her husband had been able to get jobs at First People’s Hospital entirely thanks to this nephew.
"These two are unworthy of being a doctor and a nurse. I demand that the hospital fire them immediately. Do they think putting on a white coat makes them some kind of angel?"
Mu Ziquan’s voice was bone-chillingly cold. Though he was in a wheelchair, his presence was so overpowering that the gawking crowd immediately dispersed.
