Chapter 356: Chapter 356: Unlucky Kidnappers

With a THUD and a SMACK, Gu Jiaojiao took the opportunity to climb out of the trunk.

Seeing Old Three go flying, the three men in front quickly closed in on her.

All three were utterly shocked. The second-in-command, in particular, took a defensive stance, ready for a fight. Their knockout drug was an enhanced version.

"Haha, you’re a feisty one. I like that."

The leader stroked his chin and laughed, his eyes filled with greed.

Seeing his expression, Gu Jiaojiao grew even more furious. ’You guys are going to regret ever running into me today,’ she thought.

She feigned fear and said, "I’m warning you, don’t try anything funny, or I’ll scream for help."

"Go ahead and scream. No one will hear you, even if you scream your lungs out," the man snickered, his eyes full of malice.

"Take a look, aren’t we handsome? Our family is rich and powerful. And what you don’t know is that I’m the most eligible bachelor in the Imperial City, you know."

As he spoke, his gaze roamed shamelessly over Gu Jiaojiao’s body. ’Damn, she’s gorgeous,’ he thought.

Gu Jiaojiao scoffed. "Young masters of which family? How come I’ve never heard of you?"

"Damn it, you bitch! How dare you not believe me!" the man roared, pointing an angry finger at Gu Jiaojiao.

If his family hadn’t fallen from grace, they would be counted among the old, established families of today.

He wouldn’t be acting as someone’s lapdog like this. Although he held a decent rank within his organization, they were a group that had to operate in the shadows.

The man’s anger flared. "You two, go strip that bitch’s clothes off."

Seeing the man was truly enraged, Gu Jiaojiao decided to stop toying with them. She executed a clean leg sweep, kicking out at the two men who were advancing on her.

She put her full force into the kick. Caught completely off guard, one of the two tall, brawny men was sent flying while the other was knocked flat on his back.

The one who was sent flying was surely unconscious, most likely from the impact of the fall. Gu Jiaojiao stepped on the other man’s back, ground her heel down hard, and he went still.

"You... you... you’re really something else!" the leader stammered, so scared he’d pissed himself.

Gu Jiaojiao looked at his pathetic expression with growing contempt. She gave a cold, mocking smile. "How do you want to die?"

With that, she took two steps forward and launched a flying kick at his chest.

The gun the man had just pulled out clattered to the ground. Gu Jiaojiao felt a flash of relief that she hadn’t continued toying with them.

She had only just begun to develop some Inner Strength; it would be useless against something like a bullet!

"Talk. Why did you kidnap me?" Gu Jiaojiao demanded, planting her foot on his chest. She let out a cold scoff, her gaze sharp as a knife.

The man was scared out of his wits. "I... I don’t know! The order came from above! They sent the four of us—their elites—to kidnap the person in the photograph."

Gu Jiaojiao looked at the cowardly wreck of a man with even more disdain. "Don’t worry, I’ll be sending you to a very special place soon."

The man cried out in pain and immediately begged for mercy. "I was wrong! I was wrong! Miss, I really messed up, please spare me! I’ll never do it again!"

Gu Jiaojiao stared at him, her expression icy and silent, and pulled a syringe from her backpack.

Seeing this, the man panicked and continued to beg, terrified of angering this terrifying woman. If he did, he would be the one to suffer.

The man lifted his eyes to sneak a glance at what Gu Jiaojiao was doing, his mouth never stopping. He prayed to every Immortal in the heavens but still wouldn’t reveal his identity.

Gu Jiaojiao removed her foot, her voice detached and cold as she uttered two words: "Shut up."

She injected all four men with a potent dose of Soft Muscle Powder, a new formula she had personally developed.

Then, she tossed them into the car one by one, slammed the door shut, dusted off her hands, opened the driver’s side door, and started the engine, peeling away into the distance.

This entire scene was reflected in a pair of dark, deep-set phoenix eyes. The watcher’s thin lips were pressed into a tight line, his gaze flickering with a complex light that was impossible to decipher.

Gu Jiaojiao drove straight home. Just as she pulled into the courtyard, she saw Su Shuochi rushing out of the house, his face pale with panic.

"Su Shuochi, I’m back," Gu Jiaojiao said, forcing a smile.

"Jiaojiao, I came back a moment ago and couldn’t find you. You scared me to death," Su Shuochi said, trying to return her smile.

Perhaps because he had been worried for so long, or perhaps because he was still in shock, his smile was a little stiff.

"Oh, come on! Don’t you know what I’m capable of? What is there to worry about?" Gu Jiaojiao said, getting out of the car and taking Su Shuochi’s arm.

"This car... There are people inside..."

"Let Mr. Han and Old Mu handle all this. You go make dinner; I’ll call them."

"Do you know why it happened?" Su Shuochi asked, still worried.

"I didn’t ask. I just took them down. It’s probably because I helped Mu Ziquan with that Poisonous Gu. The people who inflicted it must have found out, and now I’m a target."

This was only Gu Jiaojiao’s guess; she hadn’t actually managed to get the specifics out of them. She had a feeling that while she was dealing with the kidnappers, someone else had been watching from nearby.

It probably wasn’t an enemy, or her life would have been in danger. But Gu Jiaojiao didn’t say any of this to Su Shuochi, truly afraid of making him worry.

Su Shuochi knew she must be hungry, especially since Grandpa Gu and Mr. Gu were coming over to their house for lunch.

He didn’t want his father-in-law to notice anything unusual, so he turned and went to make lunch. He trusted that the men in the car wouldn’t be waking up anytime soon.

The kidnappers’ car was a common model, so nothing could be gleaned from it.

Meanwhile, Gu Jiaojiao went to make a phone call. The line connected quickly, and Mr. Han said he would immediately dispatch people to take both the car and the men away.

Old Mu also answered Gu Jiaojiao’s call right away. In truth, he already knew what had happened to her. 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺

He didn’t say anything, simply listening patiently until Gu Jiaojiao finished speaking. Only then did he make a promise over the phone.

"Jiaojiao, rest assured. Mu will definitely protect you."

"Thank you, Mu. Could you please contact Han and ask him what’s going on?"

"Of course, Jiaojiao. I’ll send someone to pick you up this afternoon so you can administer the silver needles for Ziquan, alright?"

"Sounds good. Shu Ci is making lunch right now. My grandpa and my dad will be here to eat soon, so I have to go. Bye."

"See you this afternoon, Jiaojiao."

Although the Mu Family didn’t have many masters in the present day, they still retained death-sworn retainers, similar to those of ancient times. Their existence was a closely guarded secret, known to no one.

When Old Mu learned that Gu Jiaojiao was, in fact, the Divine Doctor Su Gu, he had dispatched two of his top experts to protect her in secret.

The Mu Family had been a top-tier noble family back in the Daqing period, possessing immense wealth and a profound heritage.

Furthermore, the prestige and capabilities of each successive Mu Family Head had been extraordinary, allowing the family to avoid both fading into obscurity and withdrawing from the world.

Even though the past years had been unpredictable and rife with power struggles, many of the old, established families still stood strong.

The families Gu Jiaojiao knew—the Mu Family, the Xiao Family, the Han family—were all considered illustrious and noble houses in the Imperial City.

There were also many families Gu Jiaojiao didn’t know. It was no exaggeration to say the Imperial City was a land of crouching tigers and hidden dragons.

Gu Jiaojiao had just hung up the phone when she heard a car pull up outside the courtyard. It was Han Jingyi, and he had brought men with him.
