Chapter 454: Chapter 484: Working Together for Happiness

It was hard to say what would happen in the long run. Lin Nian was a resourceful man; he might just manage to move Li Xiaomei one day.

For now, however, Lin Nian certainly couldn’t meddle in the clothing factory’s business.

Shen Yi spent two days and a night rushing to finish the fake design drawings. Seeing the dark circles under his eyes, Qin Jiao gave him a light kiss and said, "You should hurry and get some sleep. I’ll arrange for someone to handle these designs."

"I’ll go with you."

’He’s getting more and more clingy,’ Qin Jiao thought. She had no other choice, so she went to the clothing factory with Shen Yi.

But seeing how exhausted he was, Qin Jiao drove. Shen Yi failed to claim the driver’s seat and had to settle for the passenger side.

He watched the focused look on her face as she drove. "Jiao Jiao, let’s make a deal," he said. "When you’re driving, only I get to sit in the passenger seat. And when I’m driving, only you can sit there."

Qin Jiao couldn’t help but laugh. "And what kind of rule is that?"

"That’s just how it is."

Qin Jiao didn’t argue with him. "Alright, you got it."

That satisfied Shen Yi.

When they arrived at the factory manager’s office, they called in Chen Sheng, Sun Jianhua, and Qin Na to lay out the plan.

Chen Sheng and Sun Jianhua went their separate ways to handle their tasks. Qin Jiao then turned to Qin Na. "Auntie, please purchase some rice and cooking oil to distribute as year-end bonuses. We’ll also need to rush production soon, so please let all the group leaders know in advance. We’ll have to hit the ground running right after the New Year."

"Got it! I’m on it!"

When only Qin Jiao and Shen Yi were left in the office, Qin Jiao said, "Shen Yi, after we get through this push for the new spring collection, the factory will be on completely stable ground. When that happens, let’s find a reliable person to take over for my dad."

"What’s wrong? Did someone say something?"

"No, no, nothing like that. My parents have always had a dream of opening a small restaurant to create their own dishes. I was just thinking that after the New Year, once the factory is stable, I’ll help them open a little place near North City University."

Qin Jiao knew her parents weren’t particularly ambitious. They had always been simple, family-oriented people, focused on working hard, caring for their elders, and raising their children. That was why their grandparents had been able to take advantage of them in the past.

Qin Jiao didn’t want her parents to work so hard; after all, their jobs in the cafeteria were quite demanding.

It would be wonderful for them to open a small shop and sell the food they love to make.

Shen Yi nodded immediately. "Of course, I support you. Do you have enough money? If not, just let me know."

"We have enough money. Besides, they don’t want to open a huge place. My parents have some savings, and so do I. It should be enough to get a small storefront to start."

Shen Yi said, "The factory will pay out dividends at the end of the year. Take your share and use it to open the shop for our parents. And pick a good spot. Let me tell you, when you’re opening a business, location is everything."

When he finished speaking, Shen Yi noticed Qin Jiao was looking at him with a smile. He paused. "Jiao Jiao, what is it?"

"Well, well. ’Our parents,’ huh? That rolled right off the tongue."

Shen Yi faltered for a moment, then let out a soft sigh. "To be honest, Jiao Jiao, I’m not really used to calling anyone ’Mom’ and ’Dad.’ I don’t even call my own father that anymore. But for you, I’m willing to try my best with your family. Just give me some time, okay?"

He spoke with such sincerity. In truth, Qin Jiao herself still felt a little awkward calling Du Liya "Mom."

She walked over and hugged the slightly awkward man, murmuring, "Let’s build our happiness in this life together."

Shen Yi froze for a second, then wrapped his arms tightly around her. "Yeah."

Qin Na had just picked out the rice and oil and was about to discuss the quotes with Qin Jiao when she saw the two of them hugging. A smile touched her lips, and she quietly backed away.
