Chapter 339: Chapter 339: Putting on Such an Act, Aren’t You Tired?

But no matter how much his heart ached, Shen Feng still had to attend the wedding the next day with Shen Zhengfeng and his family.

He didn’t want to go, but Li Xiaomei insisted. "This is a great time for us to gloat," she said. "And besides, that Qin Jiao is definitely after Shen Yi’s money. They won’t last."

Shen Feng fell silent for a moment before finally nodding.

The venue was a very upscale hotel. At the time, large, dedicated banquet halls weren’t common yet, so anyone who could afford to host a wedding at a major hotel was considered wealthy.

The Du family had always been very well-connected. However, over the years, with Mr. Du falling gravely ill and returning to his hometown to recuperate, and with some relatives moving abroad, Shen Zhengfeng had gradually taken over their network of contacts within the country.

Nevertheless, a large crowd showed up, most of whom were Shen Zhengfeng’s acquaintances. Someone even leaned in and asked him quietly, "Zhengfeng, what happened? Why did you and Liya divorce?"

’In truth, Shen Zhengfeng had never intended to divorce Du Liya so soon. Li Xiaomei was utterly devoted to him, so he could have put it off. The whole thing was an accident.’

But the divorce was already finalized, and he still wanted to leverage Du Liya’s connections. He forced a bitter smile and said, "Alas, it was all a misunderstanding. A cruel twist of fate. There was nothing I could do."

Of course, no one was a fool. Though Shen Zhengfeng had remarried with little fanfare, everyone knew his new wife had brought a son with her into the Shen Family.

Rumor had it the boy had already taken the Shen surname, and what’s more, he even bore a slight resemblance to Shen Zhengfeng. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞

In their social circle, having a mistress wasn’t unheard of. As long as a man’s business dealings were sound, most people would look the other way. Of course, whether Shen Zhengfeng’s own business would remain sound was another matter entirely.

However, another guest remarked with some admiration, "Zhengfeng, you’re quite generous. I heard you gave an entire clothing factory to Xiao Yi?"

This guest was a relative of the Du family. Though Shen Zhengfeng was inwardly fuming, he had to force a smile. "Whatever happened, Xiao Yi is still my son."

After that exchange, the crowd’s impression began to shift. ’Hey, maybe this Shen Zhengfeng isn’t so bad after all? As for him making the kind of mistake that many men make, well, that was hardly unforgivable.’

"Shen Zhengfeng, don’t you get tired of putting on this act?" a young woman called out as she sauntered over. She was dressed stylishly, her blonde hair styled in large, flowing waves.

This was Du Liya’s cousin, Zheng Zhuli. She was Zheng Duo’s younger sister, a stunning, mixed-race beauty in her early thirties who had returned with her brother specifically for Du Liya’s wedding.

Shen Zhengfeng recognized her immediately. He knew this firecracker was notoriously difficult, so he simply offered a faint smile, giving her no opening to vent her anger.

Li Xiaomei, however, immediately went on the defensive at the sight of any beautiful woman. She whispered to her sister-in-law, Shen Xiaoya, "Xiao Ya, who’s that?"

"Du Liya’s cousin. Neither she nor her brother are easy to deal with." Shen Xiaoya’s voice was hushed, suggesting she too had suffered at Zheng Zhuli’s hands in the past.

Li Xiaomei was a patient woman—otherwise, she would never have endured so many years to win over Shen Zhengfeng. Knowing Zheng Zhuli was trouble, she decided to stay quiet.

Zheng Zhuli’s gaze, however, swept past him. That old fox, Shen Zhengfeng, wasn’t taking the bait. ’But he’s not my only enemy here,’ she thought. ’The homewrecker can’t get off easy, either.’

And so, Zheng Zhuli walked over. With a sudden ’jerk’ of her hand, she splashed red wine all over Li Xiaomei. "OH MY GOD!" Zheng Zhuli gasped, then apologized with zero sincerity. "Oh, ma’am, I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to do that at all."
