Chapter 534: Episode 532: The Females always Rule

The girls didn’t listen at all. They didn’t even blink.

Ren’s clever little redhead daughter just turned around and gave her mom a completely innocent, sweet smile. Then she pointed her tiny finger straight at the cardboard sign on the pillow fort.

The invasion instantly began.

The boys gripped their foam swords tight inside the dark fort. Jax, Torian’s son, was sweating. Drake (Zarek’s son) tried his absolute best to look brave. They braced themselves for a loud, screaming charge.

But the girls didn’t charge the front door. They were way too smart for that.

Cora (Caspian’s daughter) walked right up to the front entrance of the pillows. She stopped. She dropped her bottom lip. She let out a loud, totally fake sob. She rubbed her green eyes and looked so incredibly sad that it actually broke your heart just looking at her.

Torian’s boy completely panicked. He hated when people cried. He was a tough kid, but he had a huge, soft heart just like his dad. He dropped his foam sword right on the floor. He crawled out of the fort to check on her and see if she bumped her knee.

Mistake number one.

While the boys were totally distracted by the fake crying, Kaelen’s quiet daughter sneaked completely around the back. She didn’t make a single sound. She grabbed the main wooden dining chair holding up the heavy blankets. She pulled it hard.

The entire fort collapsed.

Heavy couch cushions fell right on top of the boys. Thick winter blankets tangled completely around their legs. Before they could even figure out what happened, the five girls scrambled right over the ruined pillows. They giggled loudly and grabbed the boys’ favorite toys from inside the wreckage.

The fort belonged to the girls now. They claimed the ruins without throwing a single punch.

The boys finally scrambled out of the messy blankets. They looked completely betrayed. They stomped their feet. They marched straight to the kitchen to find their giant, scary dads. They wanted justice. They expected the mafia bosses to step in and fix this total disaster.

Roxy followed them down the hall. She sat on a tall stool at the marble kitchen island to watch the show.

Zarek and Torian were drinking dark coffee at the counter. The boys ran up to them. They started yelling and pointing toward the living room, complaining about the stolen fort and the stolen toys.

Torian cracked his giant knuckles. He set his coffee mug down hard. He tried to look very tough. He marched into the living room to scold the girls and demand the toys back.

Roxy took a sip of her coffee and waited.

It took exactly ten seconds for Torian to completely fail.

Roxy peeked around the corner to watch. Torian was standing over the ruined pillow fort. He opened his mouth to give a strict order. But his tiny daughter just looked up at him. She widened her massive, watery blue eyes. She held out her chubby little arms toward him.

The giant White Tiger completely melted into a puddle.

His tough face vanished instantly. He picked his daughter up and kissed her cheek. She pointed at a tiny plastic teacup on the floor. The terrifying fighter actually sat down cross-legged on the rug and started pretending to drink invisible tea. He totally forgot about the boys and their fort.

The boys groaned loudly. They turned around and ran to Syris.

The Swamp King was incredibly smart. He loved rules. Surely he would enforce the law of the house.

Nope.

Ren’s redhead daughter just walked right up to Syris. She handed him a bright pink plastic tiara. She patted his knee softly. Syris let out a long sigh. He put the sparkly pink tiara right on top of his perfect hair. He went right back to reading his morning newspaper like absolutely nothing was wrong.

Roxy threw her head back and laughed.

The Kings were totally helpless. They ran a massive, dangerous criminal empire. They terrified the worst bad guys in New York City. They had billions of dollars and hundreds of security guards. But they couldn’t tell a group of tiny girls the word no.

Caspian let his daughter cover his entire face in sticky glitter stars. Kaelen sat perfectly still on the floor while two girls totally ruined his hair with messy braids. The giant men were completely wrapped around their daughters’ little fingers.

The girls ruled the house. It wasn’t even a debate anymore.

Drake hated losing. He was the son of a Dragon King. He looked exactly like his fierce dad. He was supposed to be the tough boss of the house.

He decided he was going to take a final stand. He stomped upstairs to the huge playroom. He grabbed his absolute favorite toy. It was a shiny red fire truck with loud sirens and flashing lights. He held it tight against his chest. He was going to sit right in the middle of the upstairs hallway and play with it loudly. He wanted to prove that he was still the tough guy and nobody could take his stuff.

He sat down on the rug. He rolled the truck back and forth.

Ren’s little girl peeked around the corner. Her bright red hair matched the toy truck perfectly. Her purple eyes locked right onto the prize.

She didn’t try to run up and snatch it. She was a fox. She used her brain.

She walked up to him with a giant, totally fake gasp.

"Look out!" she yelled, pointing her finger down the hall toward the massive walk-in linen closet. "There is a giant spider in there! It is huge and scary!"

Drake stopped rolling the truck. He stood up fast. He puffed out his chest. He was a brave boy. He definitely wasn’t scared of a bug.

"I will squish it," he announced proudly.

He put his favorite red fire truck down on the floor. He marched straight over to the closet. He grabbed the brass handle and pulled the heavy wooden door open. He stepped bravely inside the dark room. He looked around the shelves for the giant spider.

"Where is it?" he yelled into the dark.

Click.

The heavy closet door slammed totally shut. The lock clicked into place.

He spun around fast. He grabbed the handle on the inside. It didn’t turn at all. He was completely trapped in the dark with the towels and the blankets.

"Hey!" he yelled, banging his little fists hard against the solid wood. "Let me out right now!"

He heard a soft, totally wicked giggle from the other side of the door. Then he heard the loud sirens of his favorite red fire truck rolling away down the hallway.

Rowan had completely tricked him. There was no spider. She just wanted the truck.

He was locked in the closet for ten whole minutes. Finally, Mr. Vance the security guard walked by. The giant man heard the angry banging and quickly unlocked the door.

Drake stomped out into the hallway. His face was bright red with pure anger. He was furious.

He didn’t go to his mom this time. He marched straight down the stairs to Zarek’s private office.

He pushed the heavy oak door completely open. Zarek was sitting behind his massive wooden desk. The Dragon King was looking over some very important business papers. He looked up when his son stomped loudly into the room.

The boy crossed his arms tightly over his chest. He stood right in the middle of the expensive rug. He looked exactly like a tiny, extremely angry version of his dad.

"She locked me in the closet!" the boy complained loudly, pointing upstairs. "She stole my fire truck! Tell her to give it back right now! I am supposed to be the boss!"

He totally expected Zarek to stand up and roar. He expected his giant dad to march upstairs, scold the girls, and get the toy back immediately.

Instead, Zarek just leaned back in his big leather chair.

The terrifying mafia boss looked at his angry little boy. Zarek didn’t look mad at all. A slow, deep chuckle rumbled in his massive chest.

He tossed his silver pen right onto the desk. He smiled a huge, totally proud smile. He loved watching the kids figure things out. He loved how incredibly smart they were getting. He wasn’t going to fight this battle for him.

"It is not funny!" the boy yelled, stomping his foot on the rug.

Zarek laughed even harder. He crossed his thick arms over his broad chest. He gave his son a totally calm, knowing look.

"You are learning a very important lesson today, my son," Zarek grinned. "The females always rule."
